So I bought one of these yard bug MTD lawn mowers recently and it had a broken cable too but it was the other cable, the one for forward motion. the reverse cable was looking like it was gonna break any day too so I bought both cables and started the project yesterday and finished it today. You are right about the reverse cable being easy because it's the lower cable down low by the deck. The forward cable was real bear to replace because I had so much trouble getting to it. But, I'm glad I watched your video before I tackled the project. You definitely saved me some time. Thanks for posting the video. Much appreciated.
Yes! About a 5 minute change on the lower cable, I worked about an hour on the upper (forward) one! Yikes! I have bear paws for hands, it is easy to SEE where the cable goes, hard to get your hands in to hook it up! And when you DO get a hand in to hook it up you have to do everything by feel, you can't see a thing because your hand is in the way! And if you have to take the "cone" off below the steering wheel it is a good idea to have wasp spray close, probably it good idea to spray it down the throttle and shift lever holes before you even attempt to take anything off and let it set a while! When I took the one on my mower off it was completely full of wasp nests!
@@woodchuck4562 You did good if it only took you an hour. I ran into the exact same problem, I could see it but I couldn't get that forward cable hooked. I was starting to think I was never going to get it but I finally did. I was glad when that project was over. MTD should have come up with a better setup than that.
I bought an old Bug last year, thanks to you i know how to lube the moving parts cables etc. It works fine but i put tubes in front tires. In. Michigan it sat from September till May and it started in about 4 seconds. Your vids are great.
Good video, camera work not bad- pretty stable. Music volume just right. Might want to order a second cable, usually if ones frayed, the other is on the way out.
Hi Terence! I was wondering if you still had the video you had up a while ago that had to do with a snowblower and bad gas issue. It worked wonders for me, I just can't seem to find it on your page? Kinda need a walk through on it again. If you can you you put the link in the comments here? I'd really appreciate it. You the man!
