You know what's the best thing on this channel? the fact that he shows an image of a card he mentions but it's not on the screen so you can know what is he talking about. I REALLY appreciate that. Also he has a nice voice and talk.

HAHA measure blood pressure in celcius. I don't know why I found that so funny. Maybe because sarkhan does seem like a guy from some comedy film who would do that. Just stab a thermometer into his body and then angrily announce that 100 is the ideal number so he is perfectly healthy.

Great game play and commentary. I am rather sure I often mess this deck up, but it is always fun. (although I prefer 2 chromatic lanterns and two treasures which is the only notable difference in our setups - which fixes the land issues I run into so often)

I like a Chromatic or two as well, and not a big fan of Lathliss. Sure she "rewards playing dragons" but that doesn't mean much as this video proves. Niv and Bolas are enough on their own, especially with Eldest Reborn backup. I think a more control-oriented version would work better overall.

in the first game there, when a blue player starts firing off draws with instant in their main phase, you can assume they are looking for lands almost every time.

Hey Legend, would you be able to recommend some substitutions for Sharkan and Dragon's hoard to make this deck viable? more on the black-blue side of things rather than red - i don't play much red and i can't really justify spending the wildcards on it as such. thanks in advance

I'm currently in Gold tier 4 and still doing decent with the complete dragons fire upgrade deck in ranked play, I'm starting to get to the point where it's about 50/50 though so I'll have to consider upgrading to this version before long.

Much more important to play Sarkhan on turn 3 and we can't do both unless we draw an untapped land.

Dragonskull doesn't count as a swamp for Drowned Catacomb

Built the deck as F2P having only 3 copies each of the dual lands and finally reached platinum. You definitely don't want to draw tap lands or swamps when trying to cast Sarkhan or Niv. LVD's mana fix is expensive (as required by key cards) but very consistent.

Sarkhan did far more of the heavy lifting. I suggest you rewatch and observe how relevant Sarkhan was.

I haven't seen you post videos recently in the ranked ladder, out of curiosity, may I ask you if there's a reason you aren't playing these decks on there? I'm not judging you at all regardless what standard mode you're playing on, just wondering.

As a new player i was so excited when I opened a nicol bolas in a pack...then i looked up decks online where i can play him and everything is expensive :(

I use him in a grixis control deck, heavy on U/B with just a bit of red. Pretty much revolves around hand hate with uncommons such as thought Erasure, disinformation campaign, eldest reborn... Nicol bolas fits in great because of his entering the battlefield effect too. But yeah it's fairly cheap, if I recall only other mythic I have in the deck is a Ral Planeswalker that I got and decided to include. Most of the core cards of the deck are uncommon or lower though. Most you'd spend is on the rare lands

12:22 You could use your mana a bit better here. Given that the only card that needs triple blue is Niv Mizzet and assuming you've planned to use the Dragon's Hoard, you won't be able to cast it anyway. So, with a red haevy deck, by tapping a blue source you could have saved 2 damage from the shockland for casting Sharkan and shock in the same turn. Two damage would have not made the difference, but a right play is a right play I guess :) 38:30 I disagree. Keeping up Shiven Fire is way better here. By playing Demanding Dragon you're dead to Pheonix plus Beacon Bolt. Sure, it's pretty unlikely as a combination of cards but the opponent's deck has a lot of cantrips so playing it safe in this spot isn't a bad idea. Also, you win the turn after anyway by drawing with Treasure Cove + your Draw Step and Niv Mizzet combat damage.

Yeah realised the mistake in the first case while editing, thought we had more red mana up at the time. In the second case dealing them 5 damage makes it less likely that they can chain cantrips to find what they need and get Phoenix back, still think it's correct.

Izzet Drakes has really been getting on my nerves lately. It's almost all that people want to play anymore. And I'd say that it'll be gone with the next set to come out, but that isn't the case considering a majority of the cards aren't even in Rivals or Ixalan.

@@irou95 The last patch put a pretty big dent in the infinite drafting plan for F2P players, regardless of how good they are. Can still get a lot of value out of it, though.
