@@JesusGarcia-jh8zd It is very cost heavy as a commander and limited your colorpile a lot. If you put in the graveyard it will also go into your deck and not your command zone. Having it among the 99 makes sense and so does Ugin, the Spirit Dragon.

@@Tupiaz if a commander is to change zones, you control whether or not it goes into the Command Zone. And building a colorless deck is really fun and interesting. And if you think money is an issue, look up the costs of some of the things in his videos. He has several foiled out decks.

Hedrons were built to contain Eldrazi. Out of all of them, Kozilek definitely fits the bill the best. A deck tech on him would be good too.

If I can bludgeon someone with a deck box containing my Double Sleeved "Zo-Zu the Punisher" Deck and the blood does not even reach the sleeves and any evidence can be removed with some cleaning...then I trust a deck box. The testing process is a bit inhumane but what do you expect from someone playing Zo-Zu?

Emrakul, the Promised End was my first Commander deck and part of the reason was just to use Leifkicker’s Hedron deck box (painted in eldrazi purple, of course). Still one of my favorite decks and an amazing box.

My favourite deckbox of all time is my Ultimate Guardb Xenoskin deckbox. Yes, it was am investment at about 30$ but one for a lifetime. It has insane quality, almost looks like new, even after a couple years and, most importantly, i feel perfectly save, whatever expensive cards or decks are in it because it will never open on accident and it is almost impossible to be seriously damaged (in a way that would endanger the cards within). A++ from me. P.S.: A colorless Eldrazi-tribal deck would undoubtedly be the best fit for the Hedron-deckbox, plus I would love to see a special and unusual deck like this and would expect nothing less from Brian.

I built an Eldrazi Tribal deck with Kruphix God of Horizons as the commander. You never had to worry about casting things what require colourless mana because of Kruphix's ability. I originally made it around the release of Oath of the Gatewatch, assuming colourless mana would be a bigger thing. It might be good in that hedron

I'm dutch so i just want the highest possible quality for the lowest affordable price … lol, though partly true … after that i would be looking for a high quality deckbox for a reasonable price, if that box would appeal to my sense of style (for this i had high hopes for the leather and cork deckboxes, until …) … so for now i am sticking with the Satin Tower. And yes, you are doing people a HUGE service with these videos, while i'm not always excited to watch them, so far I have not been disappointed with the review quality and I like that you indeed do what you point out at the end, give all options a fair chance and let US decide what works for US.

There are many good ones to put in the Hedron deck box, Tazri with the Food Chain combo or just plain ally tribal is my top choice, some eldrazi would be nice. Those deck boxes are gorgeous!

Best deck box is the 200ct cardboard boxes: lightweight, pretty sturdy, basically impossible to accidentally open up, you can write your own meme tier deck names on the boxes so you know which box is what deck and if you really need them to be more resilient to damage and liquid you can easily bedliner them. At like $0.60 by far the most cost efficient option too.

had a great deal of fun with kozilek the great distortion which would be on them for the hedron. play lots of artifact ramp then refill your hand. allstar for the deck was ring of 3 wishes letting me tutor for the right cmc for pitching.

Thank you for the review :) I think I would have liked to have seen the Pirate Lab boxes loaded into one of their foam cases, since that seems to be what they're intended for - and in that context, I think the looser lids will be less of a concern. Finding good deck boxes for the pirate lab case has been difficult for me. While the Ultimate Guard boulders fit well, they have no room for tokens; and while the Satin Towers have room for tokens and dice, they don't seem to fit well. So far, I've settled on the standard Ultimate Guard cases, which have an almost perfect fit but still have room for a few tokens in each deck. They're just a little flimsy and I'm worried a heavy hit to the case could still cause some damage. I'm curious if the Pirate Lab boxes have a comparably good fit; if so, I think they might be a good option for a little more durable protection inside the foam.

One of my favorite things about the Satin Tower is that it's ideal for customizing after the fact with paints, stickers and the like. It's true of a number of other deck boxes ya'll have reviewed in the past, but for a single deckbox it would be my ideal for that reason alone.

Professor, I would recommend building new Kozilek for that Hedron box. I bought that deckbox after your review on it however long ago that was, and it houses my Eldrazi Tribal commander deck (which prior to devoid ruining everything was one of my favorite tribes). Playing colorless in commander is a fun time and sometimes you can steal the game with hard ramp or sneaking big boys into play with quicksilver amulet and the ilk.

Going through a bunch of recommendations, i feel the Hedron Deckbox is 'best suited' for a 5 color 'Allies/Superfriends' deck. This probably gives the most build freedom, as well as a nice theme to build around and a stock of base cards to fill the deck, and it actually still leaves room to put in some very strong Eldrazi for commander (while not being a straight up Eldrazi deck).

Recently I picked up the Legion Hoard Plus in black. It's not the idea flavor match, but I'm currently using it for my zombie deck and it's great. I bought it after watching your review of it. The magnets are great, I like how it unfolds and the material used in it's construction. There's room for my single-sleeves (dragonshield) commander deck along with a decent number of zombie tokens. The extra bit holds the dice/counters and my life tracker that I got from the Commander Anthology Vol II. I think a commander deck that you're proud of definitely deserves a better deckbox than most. If you're comfortable spending a couple hundred bucks on one of the later models, go for it, but at least make sure your current pride and joy is protected. Now that I think about it, I need to get a better deckbox for my modern GB elves...

I primarily use the Ultimate Guard Boulder and the Ultra-Pro "Pro-Deck Box." Both simple budget options that work just fine for me. I also have a Satin Tower and a Flip N Tray, which are both very nice, but I prefer the less expensive boxes.

For my commander decks I always gravitate towards the Ultra Pro 100+ Deck Box. Might not be the overall sturdiest but, for $3.29 at my LGS, that few extra bucks saved on a premium deck box can be used for a mid-priced card in the deck or a set of Dragon Shields, whichever strikes my fancy.

First things first, great video. As on what commander you could brew, I would suggest a Taigam, Sidisi's Hand deck. I built one and play it on XMage and the deck is pretty fun, it has draw denial for the other players and a mill sub-theme, it's really fun and can pull out some janky combos with something like Traumatize and Undead Alchemist. You should give it a look

Build General Taziri for your Hedron box! And for me, a box is about durability, then closure security. Look can occasionally override the later; I’ve been loving the dragon vaults, though the closure is a little loose.

General Tazri Allies for the Hedron leifkicker deckbox. It's etb is a tutor for any Ally in your deck. I read that they are the morally acceptable slivers.

The best deck "box" on the market in my eyes is still the Legion Vault V2. However, I currently use the Stanley Deep Pro 10 (or 12) Compartment Toolkit from the Professor's review of everyday items.

For the Hedron Deckbox: Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim White Black clerics could be fun! Lots of old Cleric stuff out there! & she's one of the few Legendaries from a Zendikar based set with Hedrons in her art... just my 2+ cents! :)

Kozilek butcher of truth is an extremely fun beat down commander. While he doesn’t look like much if you load the deck with mana rocks he provides the much needed card draw that colorless lacks. Also, the annihilator does help to close out games ;).

Shocked defenders got a D. I bought more after my first batch because I like them so much. I noticed you didn't mention the texture series and I think they're worth trying if you have the inclination. They have a really nice feel and I haven't had any of them bust open as seen in this video since I bought them early this year. I don't know if that's because they're a slightly different product, but my boxes do jostle around in my backpack unsecured. Maybe we just have different standards! I agree with you that the paint needs work. My random internet person grade for defenders is B for BUY them and try them and see!

Ultimate Guard Boulders are what I use for most of my commander decks. Price, durability, compactness. They're great at all these things. That said, I'm considering Ultrapro's Dimir/Watery Grave deck box for my favourite commander, Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, once my LGS gets them in.

Build Hope of Ghirapur for the hedron deckbox with top end eldrazi for late game, or early depending on how quickly you can ramp. The deck can be pretty quick but can also be slow depending on hand.

100%, your commander for your Hedron HAS to be a Zendikar commander. If you don't own a cut-throat commander yet, go Tazri Food Chain. If you want casual, Mundo, Ambush Leader is pretty fun, or you can look around more! Just please keep to the flavor :D

Have you considered doing any modifying to existing deck boxes as a way to make them more protective. Like adding something to the a clove ultra pro towers so they don't instantly spill?

For the hedron deck box I think Omnath would be awesome. Either one is good too because both are super fun to play with.

for the hedron deck box, I suggest two options: * Omnath, Locus of Rage (elementals to be sacrificed for damage triggers) * General Tazri (allies)

Ultimate Guard are currently my preference from my experience. But I would like to see more options. I do have to say, their chroma line has been sweet as heck.
