I know I'm late to the party here, but hope you still react to comments. couldn't find it in the comments, sorry if i missed it and am repeating stuff. Flesh Reaver: 4/4 creature that deals double damage of any damage dealt to a player or creature to yourself. If it gets blocked by a 1/1 creature, does it deal 1 damage and 2 to myself, or does it deal full 4 damage and 8 to myself even tho the creatures toughness can't actually take 4 points of damage?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 3 дня назад
No worries! Creatures always deal ALL their damage unless stated otherwise. So it'll deal 4 damage to the 1/1, definitely killing it. The Reaver will deal 4 damage to you as well. As far as dealing double damage, if you give Flesh Reaver double strike, it'll deal 8 damage to the creature or player and 8 damage to you. Is that what you're wondering about?
@nebroht2470
@nebroht2470 3 дня назад
@@ManfredPlusMagic yes, and it already just deals double of the damage it dealt to anything to yourself, it already does 8 then, let's... Well... Not talk about double strike in that scenario please, the thought worries me. Tyvm \o
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 3 дня назад
@nebroht2470 so you won't ever take 8 unless stated otherwise. It doesn't have trample so it won't deal damage to the creature and the opponent. Even if it did have trample somehow, it still only deals 4 damage. Reaver won't deal 4 damage to the 1/1 AND 4 damage to the opponent. In the case of trample, it'll deal 1 damage to the creature and 3 damage to the player, still only making 4 damage total.
@nebroht2470
@nebroht2470 2 дня назад
@@ManfredPlusMagic nah, the flesh reaver is a 1b 1any mana creature with 4/4 that states:"whenever flesh reaver successfully deals damage to a creature or opponent, flesh reaver deals an equal amount of damage to you" So if with double strike it deals 2x4 damage to some 1/1 it will deal 2x8 damage to yourself. That's the mechanic I am asking for^^ Since if it'd only deal as much damage as said creature has toughness one would only eat 2 damage to oneself, but if it deals full damage it still does 8 to oneself Edit: yeah don't ask where in my head I got double damage to self from, but anyways, it deals 4 to self or 2x4 with double strike, but the essence is still the same, even if my brain didn't remember correctly ^^

Yugioh player here and either I'm using the wrong terms or this isn't how the game works. Player 1 attacks with a 4/4 and player 2 blocks with a 2/2 they also cast an instant after they've declared the blocker to make the 2/2 a 5/5 Does combat proceed with the 4/4 being destroyed or does the attacking player get a chance to redeclare their attackers/cancel their attack?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 4 месяца назад
The 4/4 player can respond to the 2/2 creature buff, but if they can't it's going to die to the 5/5. Once attackers are declared you can't go back on it.
@dutch6247
@dutch6247 9 месяцев назад
Just to make sure, this means that after the order is assigned, you could use a pump spell like Giant Growth to increase the first creature's toughness to a higher number than the attacking creature's power, and they would be unable to kill any of the blocking creatures?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 9 месяцев назад
Correct. It basically takes turn order. YOU declare attackers OPPONENT chooses how to block YOU can then respond OPPONENT has an opportunity to respond THEN combat damage is assigned

what about if one of those blocking creatures had deathtouch ? would our troll die and the deathtouch ?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic Месяц назад
If the deathtouch creature has a low enough toughness, they would both die! So if the 1/1 had deathtouch, the moment it deals damage to the troll, it'll die as well as the troll.

@jdwylde7 4 месяца назад
What happens when the attack and toughness are not able to be evenly distributed? Does the greater damage go to the first creature it hits?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 4 месяца назад
Great question! Say you're attacking with a 3/3 and your opponent blocks with a 1/1 and a 1/3. You'd choose which creature to hit first. So you could deal 3 damage to the 1/3 and have nothing left for the 1/1 or vice versa. You'll basically choose which creature dies. Both of these creatures deal damage back, but since it's only 2 power total, your 3/3 survives.

@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 2 месяца назад
Thank you so much! Glad they could help. Once blockers are declared all creatures deal combat damage at the exact same time, unless they have first strike/double strike. We tend to view it one at a time toale it easier on our brains, but it all happens at once. First strike damage then regular damage.

What if for example I’m attacking with a 5/5 and am being blocked by 5 1/1s can I assign more then lethal on the first two say 3 and 2 what happens with the other blockers or my attacking creature
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 8 месяцев назад
Yeah you can do that. The other 3 that you didn't deal damage to just stay out and don't die. You can assign the damage however you want, but whatever doesn't get dealt damage will survive.

If u had a 4/4 and they had 2 1/1 devil tokens. You can assign all 4 damage to the 1st devil token and deal none to 2nd token..that way your 4/4 will survive. Being that the token deal.1 damage when they die. So only 1 will die dealing only 3 damage total to your 4/4 Making it a 4/1 after combat..yeah one token survived but so does ur 4/4

@@ManfredPlusMagic I'm asking because I'm playing Shelob as a Commander in a tribal deck of spiders, so the theme is to whipe the creatures of my opponents to create foods with their abilities, can I use something like Lure or Nemesis Mask to try to swing Shelob at them and still kill 8 creatures? So something I'm a bit confused about, that I can't seem to find an answer to is say your opponent attacks with a 3/4, I block with a 3/2. Now my blocked is at 2/1, and the attacker is at 3/3. Does that damage to those cards stay for the rest of the game, or is it only until the end of the combat phase? Would my blocker card just be a 2/1 now, or does it reset back to a 2/4 when combat is over?
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 7 дней назад
Great question! 1. The power of a creature won't go down during combat, it'll stay the same. 2. 120.6. Damage marked on a creature remains until the cleanup step... So if you blocked the 3/4 with the 3/2, the 3/2 would die and the 3/4 now has 3 damage marked on it making it a 3/1 until the END of your turn, after your second Main Phase. 3. That creature goes back to being a 3/4 when the cleanup step happens during your end step.

What if they block with one creature and then they sacrifice it...does attacker deal combat damage to opponents instead? And if not. Why
@ManfredPlusMagic

Ohh that's a great question. The attacking creature is declared as being blocked. No fake damage will go through UNLESS the attacker has trample. In that case all the trample damage goes through.

@jeremykelley6733 3 месяца назад
So we did play that right..my friend had a 16/16 beast b Creature attacking me. I have 3 goblins on the board one being a skirk prospector...i declared my bock but then sacrifice it adding one to my mana pool...and they said then I'd still 16 damage..I was like no this ability has to resolve before combat is dealt. Kinda like it goes on a stack like an instant
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 3 месяца назад
Yeah that means goes to your mana pool and then they have a chance to respond. Then you have a chance to use that mana. But if the 16/16 doesn't have trample it wouldnt go through if you blocked
@aydennuula979
@aydennuula979 2 месяца назад
Isn't this how trample works? I thought one creature kills one only unless they have trample
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 2 месяца назад
Trample only counts towards players, planeswalkers, or battles. Otherwise you deal damage in order of who's blocking. Deathtouch is another story though. 510.1c A blocked creature assigns its combat damage to the creatures blocking it. If no creatures are currently blocking it (if, for example, they were destroyed or removed from combat), it assigns no combat damage. If exactly one creature is blocking it, it assigns all its combat damage to that creature. If two or more creatures are blocking it, it assigns its combat damage to those creatures according to the damage assignment order announced for it. This may allow the blocked creature to divide its combat damage. However, it can’t assign combat damage to a creature that’s blocking it unless, when combat damage assignments are complete, each creature that precedes that blocking creature in its order is assigned lethal damage. When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures that’s being assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change the amount of damage that’s actually dealt. An amount of damage that’s greater than a creature’s lethal damage may be assigned to it.

So out of curiosity how does this work with banding now? Im assuming if banding is on the defending side thay player choses the order rather than the attacking player.
@ManfredPlusMagic
@ManfredPlusMagic 7 месяцев назад
Yeah, it's complicated... 702.22k During the combat damage step, if a blocking creature is blocking a creature with banding... the active player (rather than the defending player) chooses how the blocking creature’s damage is assigned. That player can divide that creature’s combat damage as they choose among any creatures it’s blocking. This is an exception to the procedure described in rule 510.1d.

What happens, when the multiple defending creatures have more attack power in total, than the attacking creature? Does the attacking creature die then?
@ManfredPlusMagic

Correct. They all deal their total damage back to the attacker and it would die. You assign where the damage goes to the blockers, but the attacker still gets wrecked.
@Papiness
