I feel like Ultimate Guard should offer separate deck trays so that you can keep a shelf full of decks in trays but when you find the one you want to bring to a tournament or your friend's house, you can stick it in the box and go. This would be beneficial to people who want to use the Flip 'n' Tray for all their decks but don't want to spend $35 on each and every single one. If it were me, I'd have one 100+ box and one 80+ box and have commander decks and modern decks filling my shelves. Selling separate dice trays might also be nice in case someone loses one and if they do deck trays they'd kinda have to, but it wouldn't have any sort of innovation to it like a deck tray would in my opinion.

I have a comment about the quiver. First, I just want to say that I bought one and I love it; it's fantastic. I did have a small problem with it, however. The corners of the (sleeved) cards that I had at the end of the case became folded and bent because of the lip around the edge. It's not too thick in the middle areas, but at the corners it's pushing in from more than one angle so it becomes too much. Carrying around cards in it they hit the sides and get bent. I solved this by putting my dice at one end of the case and spare sleeves at the other (without cards in them they easily bend under the pressure and go back to their original shape; it's the cards inside that would get damaged before I changed the setup).

Glad to see some reviews on this stuff. I'm new to the paper game, and was really worried about things like this. My first set of card sleeves I bought PURELY for design, knowing they would deteriorate fast. And while they have lasted longer than I expected, they are terrible compared to my friends Dragon Shields. I am in need of a better deckbox soon, and this review is DEFIANTLY going to influence my purchase. Thank you very much! Also: You shaking that box like a mad man triggered my ASMR. Are you kidding me?! I watch hours of video to try and get that, and you do it by accident. Great work lol. Now to see if Heather Feather will get one of these boxes......

I can vouch for the ultimate guard flip box. Bought one the other day and couldn't be happier. I have a single sleeved 60 card deck in it along with the Jace deck (in its box) from the Jace vs Vraska duel decks, this is perfect for what i want. Also I'm new to magic again after something like a 10 year hiatus and your videos have been helpful and informative, keep up the good work.

Just got my Steel Deck Box by REP in today. Absolutely fantastic, especially at that price. The rivets barely protrude from the case and you're only ever going to catch a card on it if you try to. I could not see them extending far enough to damage your cards just by pushing on them unless you absolutely stuff the box to its limit, and even then I think you're going to just have more problems getting the cards out. I really love this thing and at that price point you really can't beat it. :)

I have a question. Can cards get damaged if you don't fully fill up a deck box? For example: If you put 40 cards in a box that can hold 80, can they get damaged from moving inside the box a little bit and also not being stacked up against eachother properly.

+Richard Welch Well, I ask for evaluation samples, because otherwise I couldn't afford to make such extensive reviews. I've had a few companies write back AFTER reviews saying they absolutely want to improve, but I never tell a company what the review says before it is posted. Once or twice, a company with a bad review has written back a snippy reply, and then become very silent regarding future samples, but for the most part my communication is "Hi, would it be possible to get an evaluation sample?" followed by either "Sure" or...silence.

Its too bad they don't know how to take constructive criticism and apply it to revising their products. The new twin flip n tray looks amazing. I have to say I got my REP deck box back in May, I think, and it has stood the test of time like a trooper and I use it to hold my primary deck to this day!

I’ll reaffirm that test of time. I’ve had two for something like five years now, and neither have aged a day. I use them to house two of my favorite and most pimp EDH decks because they deserve nothing less than bombproof protection.

I recently purchased an ultimate guard twin flip n' tray, and I absolutely love it. Aside from a playmat, it holds everything I need. Cards, dice, tokens, and extra sleeves, plus the trays that hold the decks are a tight fit, but don't cause friction or damage my cards, plus it is insanely solid. Aside from the high price, it is one of the best deck boxes around.

+Pyromancer42 Me too, and i totally agree. You can put the cards in the trays in two ways though. The first as shown in the video, being a tight fit with just a hint of friction; and the cards rotated ninety degrees, being a somewhat loose fit. I have two things to add though, one being the finish of the whole box. If you look carefully in the video, you can see that it can be just a bit rough around the edges and the other thing is the middle latch, which i find a bit akward to open on it's own while the outer ones are shut. Exactly where those shut, at least with my box, the rough finish really shows with the outer latches sticking outward just enough to notice and somewhat prevent the middle one to be opened without sticking your nail in there which will catch on between the inner and outer finish of the latch. But it's gorgeous, solid/sturdy and still is worth it's price at roughly 30 bucks. Personally, for 35 dollar/euro, i would expect a better finish. Maybe that's why the professor gave it an A instead of an A+..?

Thank you so much. The Vader deck box is something I've seriously been looking for, for years now. I know it's a failure as a mtg box, but the person who tought me how to play yugioh handed that box down to me when I was finally good enough to beat him. I charished that box and a long time ago someone stole it from me... I've looked everywhere but never knew the name of it. (Looking up MTG box didn't yield anything)

Possible simple fix for the steel case's bolt intrusion, 1 card divider to act as an interceptor between the cards and the bolt.

+Bluecrimson217 You would have to get the tape all the way to the bottom of the box, or else your cards could possibly catch on the tape. I think the divider fix is the way to go, since dividers are stupid cheap and are guaranteed to not screw up your cards.

+TheWhiteWolf1337 you may not have to depending on the kind of tape you use. I wouldn't recommend duct tape at all as the chances of it's strong adhesive ruining a sleeve or even a card, should it ever fray or turn upward, is very high, but if one were to use something such as a perforated clear medical tape from 3M, that would probably do the trick, as their adhesive factor is both surprisingly enduring, minimally damaging, and very easy to remove and clean reside from as they are meant for use on skin.

The protrusions on the inside of the steel deck box could be fixed with a simple adhesive overlay on the inside. Just cut it to size and ensure that the side that comes in contact with the cards is made of something that won't create a lot of friction. A sticker won't work, but maybe some type of felt or suede with adhesive on the back side. Just a thought.

Is the Twin Flip n Tray suited for normal 75 card double sleeved decks? Or will it be too loose to ensure safe transportation without any damage? I'm curious because I do have the 160+ and it seems to be a bit too small for 2 double sleeved 75 card decks (well at least one of the trays is and I'm afraid my cards will be damaged if I continue to pull them out and stick them in too often).

I followed an Amazon suggestion and bought the Casebel Hard Case. It has five dividers and fits my 415 card cube + 40 of each basic perfectly. The construction looks similar to the Caseling on display here and the dimensions are comparable to those of the Quiver. No cool sling like the Quiver, nothing too fancy, but I think it's a solid purchase.

Hey prof, what sleeves are you using here ? My double sleeved commander deck using dragonshield mattes and kmc perfect fits would not fit in the box! The decks were newly doublesleeved,do you think that could be the problem.

What box would you recommend most highly for a draft set. I keep 18 single sleeved lands for each color (90 total) and approximately 30 empty sleeves for my drafted deck (in case I break a sleeve during my games). I also like to keep a Chessex dice cube for dice rolls and counters. Right now I am using an Elder Dragon Vault by Legion Supplies, but I was wondering if you could recommend something better?

I purchased a Rep Gaming steel deck box based on your review and although I was quite pleased with it at first I'm recently discovering that after prolonged use it curls the cards which I was rather disappointed by at first I thought it was time taking it's course but after using a straightening method and placing the cards back in the box as a began to seal the deck box I heard a crushing sounds going on which I immediately knew was the sleeves being bent I understand the deck box is supposed to be a snug fit but perhaps a little to snug for comfort... still it looks neat though

Hi Professor! Excellent video and I'm a big fan! I'm looking for some advice though. I have a couple pricey modern decks, a commander deck, and a not so pricey casual deck that I like to tote around. All are double sleeved. I'm considering going with the Twin Flip n Tray 160+, a 100+ flip deck case, and a classic Ultra-pro case. Is there a more elegant solution you can see? I love the dice/counter tray, but don't need more than one. Is the lack of second deck tray in the 160+ a real deal breaker? Thanks again and can't wait to see more!

Just got the new Commander sized Steel Deck Box. Everything's as good as you say it is, and then some because they addressed the rivet issue. One downside, though, is that it's a little too wide for a Pirate Lab foam deck case. I'm not sure what I'll use to transport it, but I'll definitely be entrusting it with my pimp Karador deck.

More deck boxes to consider trying. Kakapopo tcg has steel deck boxes simular to the steel one shown here. They too hold a double sleeved commander deck, and have other styles like a double deck box and one with a smaller compartment for dice. The also sell time walker which has folders and leather flip boxes, but some of the older ones can be too small to fit mtg cards. One big order should be review 13 sorted.

Are those new 200+ Twin Flip n Tray out yet? The site says "coming soon" and I can't find it on Amazon. But it looks absolutely fantastic, holds plenty of double sleeved cards, gorgeous interior, comes in purple. Really hope these will be available in America.

I never used the Ultimate Guards but I always wondered that. I like the satin towers which are really thick plastic so I am mostly comfortable throwing them in a backpack or whatever.

Does the 200+ Flip'n'Tray have room for a few single sleeved tokens//emblems as well as a double sleeved EDH deck in each respective container? I adore your videos btw, keep up the great work!

+onua121 If you are using (Dragon Shield) outer sleeves for your tokens then the answer is no. The middle tray however does provide room for about a dozen or so single sleeved cards if you use pro, precise or -perfect fit sleeves. And as said in the video: the 200+ Flip'n'tray does provide room for two Commander/EDH double sleeved decks. It can however at least hold 240 single sleeved cards so yeah, with some shenanigens, you might fit your tokens in there as well..

When I go to the ultimate guard website I have to link myself to Potomac as they appear to be the only distributor of the flip n tray, as it's the only link that comes up, but on Potomac they don't seem to have any in stock, is there any other website that I can go to to order a flip n tray? Though I haven't seen in in person I have been thoroughly impressed.

+GJacketss I don't think so. I mean unless someone on reddit or sally made a list in a text document or a forum post, it seems that list only exists in video form. You should probably screen cap it, cause the prof doesn't seem to have put such info on his web page.

does the UG Twin Flip n tray 160+ holds 2 single sleeved commander decks? or is this too tight?

It'll hold them, but in my experience they fit in the tray a little too snugly for comfort. You can ditch the trays if you want.

Just recently picked up a Flip N' Tray 100+. Sadly, the Karador and Liliana for my double-sleeved Karador deck won't fit in the tray because they're sleeved in KMC Character Guards as well as in Perfect Fit. This box-and, by extension, the Twin Flip N' Tray 100+-wasn't designed to hold cards in sleeve covers, so people with InkedGaming sleeves will want to look at the Monolith, which is wide enough to hold them. Also, you don't want to use this with sleeves that are cut a little too high like Fantasy Flight sleeves; the dimensions of the box were made with not a ton of room to spare. That said, I am a huge fan of the Flip N' Tray line, and I'm pleased with the dimensions of this box. You'd expect a deck box that holds 100 double-sleeved cards to be much bigger than the 80+ model, but it really isn't that much; it's a very reasonably-sized deck box. Again, the only downside to Ultimate Guard deck boxes is their rarity in the States. I only know of two stores that actually stock them. Everyone else will have to look online or move to Europe. This is really the only thing that's keeping me from being a total Ultimate Guard convert.

I was honestly sheepish about Ultimate Guard before watching your videos, but now I am very intrigued. I hope they see this comment and realize how much influence you have with consumers ;).
