My theory is that the Eldrazi are supposed to be the eaters of worlds on the cusp of their ends. Maybe mana goes "primal" as a plane nears its end? Aside from that, lovely 8-bit Hearthstone music.

Maybe the multi-verse isn't endless. There could be limited space for the planes. If the planes were created at some point then maybe there still being made. The titans could be endlessly destroying planes as more are endlessly created. A predator-prey relationship.

Simply put, any threat like the Eldrazi, consuming and collecting- growing stronger- is doing so out of avarice and fear. Something's coming for them in the blind eternities and whatever it is just got all that more threatening with Ulamog and Kozilek gone.

It's good that the story is all coming together now after all these blocks. I like how they reassured us that they haven't forgotten about nicol bolas. I hope to see more of him in years to come.

So THAT's how the stories of OGW and SOI patch together, I think that this game has a better lore then most give it credit for :)

I really liked this video, and I do think Ugin's words carry a lot of meaning, we usually think of the eldrazi as "beings" from the blind eternities, but every time someone refers to them, they're mentioned as if the where a hurricane or a flood, a force of nature and part of the multiverse, if what little we know is true and there where only 3 titans, then that means that the only one left, Ulamog, now has the ENTIRE eldrazi race under her command, a theory I've been working on is that, maybe the eldrazi are like the "white cells" of the multiverse, and they only consume planes to keep the multiverse clean, but they're 3, so they're usually competing with each other for more food, Zendikar was a really mana rich plane, that was the reason why it was chosen as the prison, so that could explain why the titans didn't fight over this bounty-full world, but now that they're gone, there are no 3 separate heads leading the Eldrazi in different directions, they're now all under 1 single titan, so my theory in short is that, now that there is no competition for food, Ulamog has the entire multiverse to consume, and has every single last eldrazi left behind by the fallen 2 as part of her brood, this may prove to be even worse than having 3 different titans moving around, and may create a scenario where multiple planes could be under siege in unison by the new Titan lord, and who knows, maybe Ulamog will create new lesser titans to replace the fallen 2, in order to lead her now unified brood in their new quest to devour all.

I think what Ugin was saying about unknown consequences totally foreshadows the possible conflict with Nahiri and/or Avacyn. It just seems to fit smoothly with the OGW theme wizards has going on

Thanks for doing all this. Keeping up with the lore is the main thing that keeps me ducking in and out of magic.

I just wanted to let you know I just listened to your whole lore playlist within the last 2 days and I have immensely enjoyed it! So when it comes to the repercussions I think that I could cause mana to distort such as white become black, good becomes evil, angel becomes devil. But I did also have another theory about Nahiri traveling to Innistrad that probably isn't right but it's interesting. So from Structural Distortion you have the flavor text:"As Zendikar has bled, so will innistrad. As I have wept, so will Sorin." -NahiriSo from what we can tell angels are going crazy and Nahiri is in Innistrad looking for Sorin most likely because she felt like Sorin abandoned Zendikar because he never showed during the Eldrazi events. So Nahiri is pissed and wants to commit Innistrad to the same fate as Zendikar. The only Eldrazi titan we didn't see was Emrakul, it's a theory and I know people have suggested Emrakul but what if Nahiri found a way to bait the titan through the Blind Eternity so that it would destroy Innistrad as a punishment to Sorin for his "betrayal"? From Sorin's lore we also know that he did not want to travel back to Innistrad before Nahiri, Sorin and Ugin trapped the titans in fear of them following. So the presence of Emrakul in Innistrad could be messing with the little White mana that is present in Innistrad, since it is primarily a Black plane, turning the angels evil!Again great series!!! And if you could do another one like you did with Tibalt I really enjoyed it!

I was never a huge fan of Chandra until I listen to these lore videos. She's become a pretty awesome character in the stories.

Perhaps the existence of the Eldrazi in the blind eternities is what made traversing them lethal to anyone without the planeswalker spark.

That bit of the Lore really made it implied that emrakul wont be SOI, thankfully.

I believe that the Eldrazi act as a kind of clean up crew for collapsing and artificial planes and probably posed the best chance at ending the phyrexian threat.

What if the eldrazi consumed all that mana because they acted as the bridge between planes. What if they needed all that energy because it is what allows planeswalkers to planeswalk. With all those planeswalkers, this bridge between worlds needed mana to keep it active. Hence the eldrazi. The eldrazi would gather mana from planes and funnel it into the blind eternities. This would account for a lot of things like why no one really knows about them or why they consume so much mana or even why they can travel through the blind eternities.

Nice video, good to see Wizards wrapping up Zendikar and the Eldrazi, and I didn't even know that the article was out yet, so thanks for the update Seiben. And lets hope SOI gives us another good storyline just BFZ and OTW

i think the eldrazi are like a natural occurring forest fire where it burns down everything but makes way for a new healthier forest to grow on the refined nutrient rich soil.

I feel like drawing the eldrazi in and essentially killing them within the plane will cause them to re-emerge as something stronger. After all, they did bring in their full forms, and as such, Zendikar took quite a blow. If Ulamog and Kozilek do make a return, I'm pretty sure they'll be much stronger and Zendikar will fall immediately. Also nice 8-bit remix of the Hearthstone theme.

this forever cemented my live for the Planeswalker Chandra. Fire magic destroyed the greatest Monstrosity known to the planes.

FINALLY This is the closest thing we've seen multiple planeswalkers working together since the legacy weapon era. I would honestly love to see all the allied planeswalkers obliterate Nicol Bolas.

i got a bit of an obtuse theory: first off with a quote: no matter how hard you fight or how great the feats of heroism, there will always be a bigger adversary. now, im a fairly newer player so apologizes if im incorrect on specific details i had enough curiosity to research Nicol Bolas and what makes him a bad guy; his sole goal is to undo the Mending, this astronomical cross-plane occurrence that nerfed the greatness of planeswalkers. before the mending, planeswalkers had godly levels of powers, and complete control of the mana around them. an example a pre-mending Jace Beleren would most likely be so powerful he would have complete psionic and mental control of entire planes, memories and ideas would be as easy to manipulate as grains of sand with zendikar being such a mana heavy plane, i dare say its the most mana filled plane so far, so what if the Eldrazi were formed as vacuum cleaners, drifting the blind eternities and instinct to consume where there is the most mana. after her lil soul-bonding with Ashaya, Nissa is pretty damn powerful, being able to call upon the mana of the entire plane to her bidding. ((before i click post even im not confident in the above theory, because that just makes the eldrazi titans as powerful if not more so than the current planeswalkers, and almost on par with pre mending walkers.... unless NEW THEORY WHAT IF THE ELDRAZI ARE PLANESWALKERS THAT GOT TOO MUCH MANA AND WENT PRE-MENDING another theory more based around my friend's idea: what if each plane already has some form of entity to balance the mana, or at least keeping it out of the hands of planes walkers? for example, Theros has its gods, Tarkir has the five dragonlords, Innistrad has Avacyn and Griselbrand causing a reoccuring cycle of life and death, reanimation and destruction

The good thing about their deaths is that if wizards eventually comes back to Zendikar their remains could be possible card art. 1 or 2 land cards that uses the Titans as a basis for abilities and art sounds awesome!

A common theory seems to be that the Eldrazi were holding something bigger back. I think that could be interesting, but something as big as the Eldrazi could be even more connected to the universe of mtg then simple blocks for a bigger bad guy. Since they come from what's outside the planes, maybe their deaths can actually effect the ability to travel between them, effecting planeswalkers directly with their ability to planeswalk

It was a pretty good conclusion with a slight cliffhanger. Can't wait for SOI, because I didn't play during the original Innistrad Block!

Hello sir Seiben. Here is what I think. Since the Eldrazzi embodies the void (the destruction) they probably cause a huge rift / balance of power thus causing untold chaos throughout the multiverse. Since one side lacks, the other compensates (creation) thus it will create another life form that will do the same function as the Eldrazzi but in a different purpose (probably assimilation or something) Thanks again for this vid sir!

i might be new to mtg since i started playing it after a convention took place in my city, but thanks to you i managed to get most of its lore :D

the eldrazi are like cleaners, they suck up all the mana in the plains and then releasing them when they are done renewing the plains for new life while redistributing the old life to other plains

I believe that the Eldrazi serve as a role of balance to the whole multiverse as a form of of entropy, a thermodynamic quantity representing the unavailability of a system's thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work, in that way ensuring that the multiverse vast energies are balanced out. This would explain why they attacked Zendikar a chaotic and mana flooded plane, and with two of the Titans gone, maybe the there would be a huge surplus in mana, enough the give a certain ancient evil dragon back the power he lost, especially if a third Titan is killed.

with one of the upcoming sets being "eldritch moon," I think there is definitely going to be at least some connection between the Eldrazi and Innistrad, as eldritch almost exclusively is used in tandem with lovecraft, which the Eldrazi are drawn from

I;m just glad we're done with the Eldrazi for a bit. Now we get to go to Innestrad again. I joined into MTG just after Return to Ravnica came out, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this plane 'feels', if you will. To clarify, by feel, I mean how well do the mechanics (new and old in the event of a returning plane) mesh with one another. Zendikar felt very meh, but Innestrad is looking to fix that with any luck. I really hope Nahiri is just mucking about the place causing problems, and I would love nothing more than a new Sorin (sorry, I think the guy is really cool and Khans didn't do him justice to me.), Tibalt (Because why not?), and more humans for the tribal deck I'm working on.

i think one of the consequences will be that with no one eating up planes, they will eventually collide. so, in a comic book style fashion, the future Gatewatch will be the ones choosing which which of the colliding planes should be destroyed so that the other may continue to exist.

My guess is for Shadows Over Innistrad is that the Moon on Zendikar corrupts those who are under constantly under the Moon's rays.

The destruction of the Eldrazi Titans could lasting rippling effects across multiple planes, similar to the events of Time Spiral.

My guess is that Emrakul was actually awaiting the death of the other two titans. The three of them inhabited the Blind Eternities, and if you look at it from Ugin's pond metaphor, if three men have their hands in the pond trying to catch a fish, there will be competition. With Emrakul being alone to consume and grow, it could very well become more powerful than the other two titans were combined.

Nice ending Cop-out Wizards. "Hey hey, all of you who know storytelling is more than fairy-tales, if there's enough disagreement, there could be something that is ACTUALLY unkillable in the waits. Do you guys want to TEAM UP with Eldrazi?"

Is the glyph actually permanent? If so, it is pretty much a beacon to Emrakul: "Come and get your concentrated, delicious mana!" Maybe the Eldrazi are like Black Holes: they kept the fabric and/or planes of the Multiverse from floating away. Who knows?

I can't wait tell the next Eldrazi sets. They always have some of the most interesting cards.

When you think about how now they are returning to sets with unfinished storylines it make you wonder if they will return to alara and the story line of nicol bolas. Jace did mention him and killing the 3 Titans might be his plan to do something.

Maybe the death of Titans anger whatever gods traverse the multiverse? Maybe they turn into zombie eldrazi? That'd be both kewl and disturbing... Imagine the artwork!!!

Theoretically, I believe that, following Kozilek and Ulamog's "deaths", either Emrakul will reappear in some kind of enraged state over the loss of her fellow titans and attempt to find and dispose of those responsible for their destruction, or Nicol Bolas or some other greater evil will make an appearance to threaten the limited peace of the multiverse.

My friend and I were theorizing that they were basically the multiverses recyclers, eating colored mana and leaving it colorless mana

I can't wait to find out more about what's going on between nahiri and sorin! they are my favorite lore characters and innistrad is my favorite set/plane the amount of excitement I have is unreal! really looking forward to the lore vids on innistrad and it's characters, you do a great job!

I think the Eldrazi's main purpose in the multi-verse is to combat plane devouring sources like the Phyrexians. The Eldrazi would inevitably bump into them and devour them and the whole plane they were on. With the fall of the titans the Phyrexians grow stronger.

So I'm a little hard on the writing sometimes, and I would like it to be a little more consistent, but overall wotc is doing a great job. Your videos just add to the mythology of mtg. Great FNL. The impact of the loss of Ulamog & Kozilek will not be immediately felt in the MTG multiverse. However, MTG seems to be a place where vacuums are nearly always filled. Perhaps their loss may result in a backlash from The Blind Eternities that is quite possibly, titanic? :/

Maybe the titans existed to keep planes in check, like not letting a plane get too out of control by consuming it.

I think the eldrazi may have been a power check for excessive mana, for example they act as a void to perhaps stop someone or something from using is as a weapon (Nicol Bolas)

in honor of Ulamog serving as Chandra's chair, I recommend tossing in a Dragon throne of Tarkir to the prize as well. it has the same flavor :)

Perhaps the Eldrazi play a Galactus type role? While yes, they do destroy planes in the multiverse their mere existence holds back a much larger threat that would consume worlds at a much more efficient and alarming rate. Perhaps outright destroying planes with a single thought.

Also, they could be a defense mechanism against the god-like powers of old-planeswalkers. Eldrazi are attracted to high concentrations of mana, and old-walkers tended to have that. Because the Eldrazi were caged, the multiverse almost collapsed, which led to the mending, the multiverse's second line if defense against the effects of old planeswalkers. Wouldn't this be a great way to tie the great old-walker stories to the new-walker stories?

The Eldrazi were holding back the phyrexians and slivers, now we will have to deal with them again.

I think that the three were connected like a sort of hive mind and Emrakul will be out for revenge and may come back and there will be a "Gathering" of planeswalkers to fight him off or maybe the eldrazi work for Nicol Bolas

I feel like the titans kept the balance in the multiverse. When it is time for a plane to die, the eldrazi consume it
