I have this deck in paper. On my sideboard I also like to run a couple transmorgifying wands to deal with whatever threats an opponent may have so I can just fly over some oxes

Probably the most synergistic budget deck I've played all year. If I had one complaint, it would be how often Spell Pierce outlives its use-fullness. Still, I tried trading them out for Negates, and that'll teach me. It doesn't take long to realize that the moments the 1 mana cost of Spell Pierce does pay off make them pretty necessary in this deck, even if they do end up going to waste about half the time. That other half... it's too critical to trade out for. I also questioned Merfolk Trickster after the first few games, but I have learned how incredibly valuable those little guys are here, and along with the 4 Stormtamers, they help up the chances for the discount on Wizard's Retort, which is just an awesome thing, and definitely makes Wizard's Retort the right choice over the other two three cost spell-counters in Standard atm. Really good stuff, and I thank you for posting it up, because I really am finding it to be a lot of fun.

Long time ago I created a deck than function similar but red and blue, it have four goblin tunneler and four scroll thief, sleep, negate and other cards to support.

This is the first build I've seen with 3 chart a course. It's a potent draw spell although you should main deck one or two copies of sleep for aggro matchups and side metamorphic alteration at one or two for stompy or midrange decks

I play a mono black removal deck in arena and my opponent play this deck one game. He had a 1/1 with curious obsession. I had 5 removal spells and he counted or dive down everything I did till he won.

I've lost once to this deck as Bant. I have only 2 non creature spells which is 2 Vivien. I lost because I was white mana screwed. So I don't mind this deck really much but I can see why it is powerful with the 1drop counter for one blue

This takes control to insanity. The way the creatures complement the enchantments is stupid. How did WoTC not see this coming? The only thing I can think to compare it to is the old Mining Grenade deck. Howling mines, Anvil of Bogardens, and Lightning Bolts with Goblin Grenades. Once you had 4 mana you just start discarding all the lands you draw. By the time you got your 2nd grenade off opponent was dead. But I think this deck would beat it.

So I litteraly starting playing since 2 days and mono U always been a thing for me how expensive is it to make it still figuring out the crafting system but can i just craft the single cards or do i need to buy packs and get lucky?

Well, it's undraftable now, so you should pretty much spend a hundred bucks or so to get wildcards enough to build it. Figure out which packs are most relevant in this deck and open those.

I am fairly new to the mtg scene And I play mostly with friends just for fun on the weekends But do you think this is a good deck to buy and start playing or should I find other alternatives to play? Also one of my friends told me that Is not worth buying something from ixalan because the game is gonna rotate with the new expansion? I didn't quite undertand that. Like I said, fairly new to mtg but any comment would be higly appreciated.

But how does one who is just starting out on arena use this deck when none of the cards are in the starting packs? I also don't understand how a deck can be a "budget" deck on arena when you can't directly purchase any of the cards... But anyway, this deck isn't available to newcomers so it's hardly good for people just starting out.

@@gregthefishburger8270 im saying it is one of the decks out there with the least rares and mythics. So in a sense it is much easier to build then lets say blue white control. I was able to build mono blue after doing good in a few drafts and i think draft is the way to go if you are just starting out. I think

@@gregthefishburger8270 i was not trying to say the deck is given to you when you start out its kind of like mono red the less mythic and rare wild cards you use for a deck the easier it will be to build on arena. They say the game is free to play and it is only to an extent of what you are trying to get out of it if you are just trying to have fun the game is free but if you are trying to climb the ranks you are probly going to spend a few bucks to be competitive. I personally think they should start allowing ppl to trade and also let ppl talk to there opponent's that is half the fun in magic if you ask me.

When I'm constructing a deck from a list in paper (assuming you didn't mean arena), I'll usually get the cards I need on ebay. Or go to your lgs, search up which sets have the cards you need, and spend an afternoon looking through cards to build the deck you want (you'll save money this way but might not find everything you need). Buying packs from specific sets trying to assemble a specific deck is very inefficient and costly.

I got top 8 at a ptq with a Similar build it's quite an interesting deck to play and very annoying to play against but it's got too few responses to sweepers so unless you've got a counterspell open its gonna hit and if will hurt your game

Awe where is your need for a challenge? That is however why we play our decks right? To see which one is the best. You lose you figure out you need to tweak the deck a little bit. But the deck in which you are playing is very challenging.

Can't do that with a paper card game. They ban cards, they don't nerf them. Bans in standard are unusual but they happen sometimes Curious obsession is nowhere near overpowered though. It's amazing in this deck but that's because the deck is built to support it
