The turned up tail end makes no sense at all, detracts from the load distribution that is the purpose of the 'shoe. I just viewed a set of these on a used sporting goods site,the seller said, "never used". They look cheap and probably are, straps look like they'll break easily when cold, $49 doesn't get you much of a snowshoe, think I'll pass and look for something better constructed.
