I watched this video a few months back. I been doing a lot of wedding make up lately and I'm rewatching this video and realizing how much information I actually took from watching this.
Just 4min. into your video & I'm already blown away. You can literally teach yourself a lot about makeup application from the hundreds of tutorial posted on Y.T. but very few "gurus" offer practical advise beyond the putting on of product.
This has got to be one of the best videos on a mua kit i have seen on RU-vid! It was so informative down to what to wear to the client. You definitly make me want toredo my kit and add a lot more products to my roster. Thanks so much for this
Just found this video, I've worked in Sephora and at the Kohl's beauty studio for about two years total but I've just started freelancing outside of my usual theater work and this was insanely helpful! I've only ever done my sister's wedding makeup but now her friends are asking me to do their weddings and I was borderline freaking out. Thank you for putting so much time into this!
Thank you so much for this video- I'm by no means a professional makeup artist & often find that these kit videos are only aimed at those who are. However, my love of makeup has meant that my friend has asked me to do her makeup for her wedding, to keep in her budget, which I'm starting to get v nervous about! Thank you for helping me feel a bit more prepared. x
Great video Sanni! Thanks for all the tips. So important when doing bridal or any special event makeup really. I aspire to be as organized as you are!!
I have been watching mua pro kits and this is the best video hands down. You have the best products, the best explanations, and I love how you explain why you use the products you use.
This has been by far the best film I've watched with regards to putting together a freelance kit. So helpful and thanjs for sharing ps:the 2 adverts in the film are kiiling the vibe
Honestly, thank you! I don't want to be redundant, but I had to give some appreciation for what you put together here - I was searching for videos like this outlining hygiene/cleaning tips and products for use between clients, pallette ideas, and how to manage the inevitable mystery of the various skin tones and types you might encounter when doing impromptu mother of the bride or bridesmaids... Sure is dauntingly expensive to set up a kit from ground zero, especially since MOST products I've used on MYSELF are not high or even mid-end, but I want to make sure that a bride is pampered and has the most elegant countenance on the day of her wedding. Happy referring clients so far, but always looking for ways to improve. Thanks again for putting the effort into an IN DEPTH informational video!
So to be honest, there is no way around the cost..... it is very expensive to build up a kit. Apply for a discount from Mac, and other brands, so it makes it a little bit more affordable.
I'm just staring out...your video helped me a lot! I'm getting ready to pack up my new Zuca bag that I bought at The Makeup Show NYC. I loved the way you categorized your bags.
Oh my god! Just found your channel and I love your videos!! I love how in depth they are, and how informative they are! I love long videos!!! You are amazing and inspiring xxxx
This video was so so helpful! Although I'm young and on more of a budget, I've done a few weddings/other special events with good feedback, so I've been getting recommended to other people and before I watched this I had a bit of a freak out. But having a guideline like you provided is so nice and makes organizing and product buying less of a nightmare! Seriously, thank you so much for going so into depth, you've saved me so much trouble and anxiety!! Hope all is well :)
Great video...loved your tips. I just graduated from MUA school. So I found it very useful and interesting to watch. Loved the nail tip.....sooo true when you are doing makeup and the photographer is up close taking shots! XO from Canada.
great video! im not a mua, just love make up, but it's so nice of you to take the time to make this video and then actually answer to people's comments/questions! xxx
Loved this video- I would love to become a makeup artist some day, so I find these videos utterly fascinating. Could you maybe do a video on sanitizing your makeup and brushes (both during a job and after) and keeping things hygienic? I've always wondered how makeup artists keep from cross- contaminating when working with so many clients.
This video was so informative and helpful, you have such a lovely kit!! I am studying hair and media makeup in college and I have a diploma in it, I'm now doing my second year and I would love to start freelancing. The only problem is that I suffer from social anxiety so I find it very hard to communicate normally and often avoid situations I'm not familiar with, I really need to overcome this because I adore make up and I know this is what I want to do. I would love some tips on how to be confident and deal with the worries of being a mua, because I really respect your professional opinion. Love your videos x
Thanks for your advice and even for simply responding again. I appreciate your willingness to help us out - - priceless insight for free! I definitely agree with you, the Z Pallette may be the next thing I do... Now on to finding the right foundations! Thanks again!
You are amazing! Thank you so much for this video.. I am doing the makeup on my friend for her wedding day. I already attended makeup course on bridal makeup, but you're video is so useful!
Loved this video! You are truly one of my favorite people to watch. I do (mostly) bridal makeup in the US (Oregon) and I loved seeing what you use over there. Love how organized you are! Do you find it difficult to stay organized while you are doing makeup? That is the one thing I struggle with. I am often doing many clients in a row and end up misplacing things quite often and spending forever looking for things. Do you have any tips for that?
I loved this video Sanni! I am no MUA but I still love to see how you organise everything and also think about all the practicalities in terms of your wardrobe! :-) xx
Very very useful information, I am about to graduate for Makeup Artist, have some previous experience but you helped me a lot with the best brands to use on products!!!
Thanx a million for doing this video.Your video is by far the most helpful and informative that I've seen thus far (and I've looked at loads of videos). Very helpful indeed.Keep up the excellent work ,and God Bless. This video was a blessing indeed :-)
Hi Sanni, I have watched your videos for a long time. You are so helpful. I have recently become a make up artist at the age of 46!! I love seeing how your kit looks (it helps me a lot). Any chance you could show us a more in depth look at both your lip palettes in the Japonesque case? Also, would you consider doing a video on how you arrive and actually set up your work station? Take care x
Your videos are amazing! I'd love to see a video based on how you keep organized in terms of the business aspect such as making contracts & things of that nature! :)
Thanks that is excellent what I forgot to ask. Since I wanted to get both those items. I have tried a few things that just kind "glide off" the skin in a few hours. Thanks for the info and for the very helpful video :D
This video was just exactly what I needed! I'm an Aspiring MUA and have my first wedding in March, still building out my kit and this was amazing with the outfit information. I have a few questions. First do you like to use brow gel over wax? I ask because I'm worried that the brows will look "greasy" in photos. Also I still need to buy lip products,do you like to use more long lasting lipsticks like liquid lipsticks over cream (in the bullet) lipsticks? And what are your top 5-10 MUST-HAVE colors and brands for bridal? Sorry for such a load of questions but I really enjoy your take and the great information you give. Thank you!!!
By far, the most in depth explanation on this topic. Thanks for so many helpful details!! I will be doing makeup for 6 older women, in their 50's and one in her 70's whom will be attending a wedding ceremony. They are all family and really generous as to let me do their makeup for that occasion. This video has been loads of help to prepare for that day. I have a questions in regards to sanitation, if I am to use the same brushes on 6 different women, what is the best way to disinfect those brushes. I am thinking alcohol, but I'm afraid it can damage my brushes :( or is it safe to do so? Any other tip in regards to sanitation, it would be really helpful. TIA!!
Hi Sanni, the best video hands down that I've watched for bridal makeup kits! So very informative and thorough- love how you went into detail about the clothes, nails and jewellery. Are you able to suggest the best way to pick the colours of foundation- especially for MAC colours that come in neutral, cool and warm, I get confused as I try and cover everything. Though I have seen videos of people using the MUFE Flash palette to colour correct. Thanks for the helpful video!
Hey there, your first wedding job is exciting, I remember being really thrilled and nervous at the same time : ) I dont offer a goody bag as it just s impossible at the moment, I do too many weddings per week during wedding season. I give the brides some blotting papers and a mini fake lashes glue (that you get in the packet often anyways) before I go but thats it. xx
So simple, but so informative. I love that you don't carry an overload of unnecessary products like some pro muas. Good tips about the pictures and jewelery and clothing etc too. Well done. Bravo!
I cannot thank you enough for this video! I'm starting to build my bridal kit and this is SO helpful. What would you say are your top 10 bridal lipstick colors?
hi Sani. thanks for doing this video and in such detail. it was so helpful to a beginner like myself. I have a few questions for you: How you handle people helping themselves to your kit w/ no regard for sanitation and how did you get faster at doing a full face? Do you have a specific order that you do things in to keep it streamline? Thanks again for doing videos like this, they're really helpful.
Loved this and it is inspiring me towards a new career in MUA. Curious to hear your thoughts about mature skin makeup. I'm 54 and people tell me that I don't look it but the fact is that I do not have 25-35 year old skin anymore! Thank you!
Mature skin looks best with a really good hydrating moisturiser on underneath a sheerer foundation to even out the skin tone- MAC's face and body should suit well. Also Bobbi Brown do amazing hydrating products that keep a beautiful soft natural look. Keeping the skin well hydrated will help plump it and give it a more youthful appearance, and staying to softer colours and tones will look less harsh. X
I often mix if for mothers of bride to give their slightly more mature skin a beautiful glow. Also I tend to mix it to teh last bit of foundation that I put on top of the cheekbones and arch of teh brow x
Thank you for this video! Loved seeing the different types of makeup you have in your kit! I'm sure it's changed by now tho. And I was considering purchasing the Mat Velvet! Glad you raved about it!
Thats so totally normal and you're really young so you can't possibly be super confident in a stressful situation. Don't worry about it, confidence comes with experience. As a tip though I would say you need to hide that nervousness from the bride, its their special day and THEY need to have confidence in YOU. Good luck! xx
I don't let people help themselves, only I apply the makeup that I bring. You get faster and faster with experience. I do it in this order: primer, eyes, foundation, undereye concealer, powder, eyebrows, cheeks and lips. xx
This video was so helpful to me, thank you so much! I'm just starting out as a self-taught mua and the one thing I need to know is how to keep products sanitary, especially eye shadows and lipsticks. Also, what is the best way to clean brushes regularly and keep their integrity. I know these may be simple questions but everybody needs to start somewhere! Thanks!! XOXO
I use alcohol spray to spray on makeup products. I use a small palette and palette knife to scoop product onto palette to apply on client. I keep at least 3 sets of makeup brushes because if you are doing makeup for an entire bridal party you may not have time to clean brushes in between. I use a brush clean brushes directly after finishing a job. Then I clean brushes weekly with a mixture of dish soap and baby shampoo. Then, I dry them with a blowdryer. Use disposables like disposable mascara wands, lipstick appliers, sponges.
What a wonderful video! Thanks for all the great tips! I have my first wedding makeup job coming up and I"m so glad you went over what to wear. I didn't even think of that! Do you offer a touch up kit or goodie bag to your brides for free, or an additional cost? If so, what do you put in it?
I am so glad I've found your channel!! I love all the great info and tutorials! I am a makeup artist in Canada. Tell me, what is it like to live in Paris? It's my dream to travel there!
Patience Cole Yey, always nice to meet another fellow mua here : ) Pris really is just as pretty as it is in pictures...still surprises me. But like any place, its no fairy tale haha I hope you get to visit one day : ) xx
Hi! I love your videos! What’s your favorite brush to apply foundation/concealers with? How long do you spend on the bridesmaids makeup? Do you stay for the wedding party for touch ups? And if so, do you charge extra?
Thank u so much for this! U r brilliant! I had far to many "why" questions Abt products I hadn't heard of before. Could you make a video series explaining the purpose of products (the ones you dont find in the drugstore/uncommon) for us newbies?
Hello! Loved this video, very insightful. I have a question about timing on the actual day of the wedding… do you have a special order you put the bridesmaids and bride in? what is the importance of doing the bride first/last? xx
Haha, I struggle with that too. I say that I get "makeup blind'....the product was just in front of me and then its gone. Whenever possible (space being a major constraint as Im sure you know) I lay everything out exactly the same way everytime, it does help a bit. x
What a fantastic video, even for a 15+ year veteran, like myself! Just wondering, (forgive me if you've addressed this in previous comments) do you prefer to wear your brush belt or have it laying out in front of you? Loving your channel!
New subscriber here! Yay. Loved this video. It was very helpful and informative. I do have one question. Do you bring anything else with you to weddings? Besides your makeup kit, do you bring lighting, chairs etc.?
Amazing bridal kit and tips, thanks!!! I don't really know where to start from because it's a very expensive kit to invest in. Any advise on that? How can I do a drugstore/high end products kit to start with?
I carry 4-5 shades along for insurance for impromptu client (not a full range) and also my Graftobian palette cover everyone form the lightest to the darkest : )
Hi! I absolutely adore your videos and your style (both makeup and fashion). I just started watching about a week ago and am utterly obsessed already. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions I have about becoming a makeup artist? I'm hoping to start school either next summer or next fall. I'd love to talk to you about how you started, what works, what doesn't , what would you recommend now having already gone through it all? Let me know if you'd be up for that, Thanks! Sarah
