Last week during our Instant Deck Techs it was the crazy Modern graveyard-combo deck Bridgevine that came out on top. As a result, this week we are heading to Modern to see if we can win some games by casting Hangarback Walkers, Walking Ballistas and Endless Ones for zero mana to trigger Bridge from Below and bring back Vengevine from the graveyard. Can the plan of intentionally playing creatures that die when they enter the battlefield work in Modern, backed by Bridge from Below and Vengevine? Let's get to the video and find out!

Scooped way too early in game 3 of the first match. Opponent had no cards in hand and a land on top. Should have run out Hangarback and made him close the game. Also you skipped a Lili activation.

cloysterd Yeah, that was strangely pessimistic even for Seth. If his opponent had tapped down he could have hoped to peel a VV off the top for the jank win, and usually Seth's way better at noticing those than me so he must have gone full tilt there. Pretty disappointing.

He discarded a second abrupt decay........... I have no idea why he didn't keep it. He had no answers should another ooze appear and I think those were his only two removal spells

Match 1, Game 3 I feel like Seth should have at least tried to chip in for the last few points by hardcasting Hangerbacks and Walking Ballistas.

On turn 3 of game 3 you forgot to attack with the Neonate, which would have given you that one extra damage you ended up missing.

That was a really good match vs Jund. I haven't seen a 7/8 Tarmogoyf in a long time, if ever. The Maelstrom Pulse was somehow super surprising, even though you highlighted the line you missed with Despair. This deck does look good though. Just because it didn't run well as much as it could have doesn't mean it isn't good. Even the best decks draw garbage regularly.

You deserved the win the first match. Ponza players doing ponza things. Especially game 3 where the opponent got VERY lucky. Although you may have a scooped a bit too early on game three.

Feel like you sound a bit exasperated doing the deck tech. Feel like you should do a minute or a minute and a half and if it can be shortened then do it but this is a pretty new combo that a lot of people are probably unfamiliar with even after the instant deck tech. I commented on this last week and how I felt like you improved it a lot to streamline to videos but this is tangibly worse. Small thing but feel like it should be noted. Seth do you know you can cast your Hangerbacks and Balistas paying mana, right? Match1 game3 cast Hangerback so he cannot attack you, next turn you attack with it so you get 2 thopters. Then proceed to kill him with the thopters and Balista.

Game 3: Your mistake was casting Despair. Not sure why you needed to cast Despair there. Courser was almost guaranteed to block the Zombie, and Ooze would kill a Vengevine putting it out of the reach of Anger of the Gods.

Match 1, Game 2, Turn 1, why not sac neonate immediately, pitching bridge, and make 3 2/2s? That extra damage from being able to attack immediately on turn 2 might have won you that game.

We don't actually ever want to take an enchantment (we want Bridge in the graveyard) so getting a creature or land is better than creature or enchantment.

That burn matchup was a funny one. I dont think he had a clue what he was doing...his best line was just to go full aggro to the face and instead he was trying to kill vengevines when you were clearly getting multiple things back a turn with sac outlets :facepalm: Even if he didn't read Bridge the 1st time how did he not wise up to that? The leyline thing to protect your bridges is bizarre...like I get it, but...ugh. Seems so convoluted and a waste of spots.

I love the show but why do you always forget to attack before sacrificing the creature thay can attack? Not mad about it, just wondering. And please don't say "why win now when we can win 2 turns from now"

There's some weirdness in the deck because of Vengevine. Sometimes giving up one damage from a Neonate in hopes of getting one of more Vengevines is right.
