Much Abrew: Gitrog Golgari (Pioneer, Magic Online)

That was the coolest deck to watch get played. That was a blast.

Seth during the entire gameplay, "I think we need 1 more swamp." Seth during the wrapup, "I wouldnt change 1 thing." Past Seth has to be yelling, "No actually we would change something."

This is far and away my favorite deck that you've played in a very long time. This is the kind of Seth silliness that gets me going.

5-0, 10-0. I think this is the second ever in this channel? Incredibly impressive. Looks super fun too, needs just a little tweaking. Probably my favourite pioneer deck so far.

Any chance the artist of the thumbnails would sell playmats?

Okay seriously, in a deck with 8 copies of evolving wild's why in the world would you NOT put another basic swamp in the list. The black in this deck is more or less just a splash but with all the removal requiring black I don't understand why there is just one basic swamp to fetch up when or if needed especially if you need to cast 2 fatal pushes in one turn and don't have any duals on the field.

It feels like you are missing some coloured mana sources. Having only 3 black sources and only 1 basic swamp almost always puts you at 1 black mana, which is not enough for frog + fatal push, or 2 fatal push (34:15). Probably add at least 1 swamp, and maybe also 1 or 2 forests (so when you have the engine like 22:30 you can get to at least 10 mana).

"Lantern" Scout

I loved this deck so much after watching every minute of the video I jumped right on cardkingdom to order my missing pieces ... Which was approx 325 dollars .. so let's hope when I sit down for Pioneer Monday at my LGS next week it was worth it hahahaha... No seriously Seth... Thank you. I may do some of my own tweaks to it.. like adding a second basic swamp hahaha.. but I'm so very excited about this deck and to showcase it at the upcoming local events. One last time... Thank you !

Against the enchantment deck, when you had two sylvan advocates in hand and said all the little Nissa ultimate did was turn six lands into 6/6s. Six 10/10s might have been able to go over the top.

Everytime I see that card kingdom add at the start stating that they are rewarding your pre-orders with a "sweet token spirit" I just can't help but roll my eyes.

That deck plays amazingly similar to an EDH Gitrog ramp deck. As a follower and fan of everything our lord Hypnotoad does, I like it!

This deck makes me want to play pioneer. (The Frog is so strong everywhere you put it that I'm definitely in love with it.)

Ok, that game 2 against Dredge alone was... well... let's just say that the Nykthos turn was one of the best things I've ever seen.

This is basically the deck I ran in standard when excivator and gitrog were in standard together. This just has better lands. I used dunes of the dead to generate zombies on top of the drawing.

I have a simialar deck, wich would only be allowed in vintage i guess, thanks to Fastbond being in it. And since Gitrog is probably my favourite card in all of MtG, it was a blast to see you play this pioneer-version of the deck.

Simic Ascendancyas + Corpsejack Menace + Hydra's Growth = lots of fun

Seth always says that blood moon and panharmonicon are his favorite cards but really one of the most revisited cards after those two are gitrog but this is the first time it's ever looked pretty good.

Seems like there could be some very interesting tech choices you could make in this deck. Llanowar Scout doesn’t let you play lands out of your graveyard, perhaps the new Dryad of the Ilysian Grove could be better? That makes the 3 drop slot heavy... Llanowar Elves is legal in this format as well. Doesn’t help us with lands, but it does get us to 3’s and 4’s earlier... Seth, you might have pulled me into Pioneer with this one...

It feels like basic lands are better than all the random utility lands in the deck. Except drownyard temple, that one was sweet.

This deck is wild. What I like is you have so much card draw and lands, but not really a win con. So you just flex until you draw Ulamog or they concede

Damnit. I just want to see one land fall creature. Didn't mean this landfall creature, but Jaddi offshoot would be incredible in the sideboard against the red decks.

19:15 "Lantern Scout" Now you have to play Boros Allies for a Much Abrew! I've had a lot of success with my modern boros allies.

If you can find place in your manabase - field of ruin is a land that you can get you a lot of triggers (too bad there is no ghost quarters!).

1:02:45 You win here by playing Mutavault, floating mana, untapping it with WAR Nissa, activating 3 more Mutavaults. Then you play another WAR Nissa and untap another land. After attacks, you can activate Mutavault in combat to make it a 5/5. So this leaves you with two 5/5s, a 3/3, and three 2/2s

So this deck, which I have been brewing a different version of with the new wayward sword tooth dryad and Dread Presence for swampy action all the time, incidentally can be made to have tons of “scouts” in it. Anyone know of a worthy tribal payoff for that in Pioneer at all? I agree with a lot of the others here as well saying this particular mana base is a bit off, I think you should play more hissing quagmire rather than mutavault for the mana fixing.

Some of the numbers seem off to me. The 2/2 split between Excavator and Crucible seems off, and I think this deck wants more Coursers.

What set are those forest from? They are lovely and i need them in my life.

So when you make an arena deck, preferably blue green, you can out value many opponents just by drawing cards. Scary sphinx also super helpful

I wanna do this with Dread Presence and the new Dryad that makes all your lands Swamps.

I think the deck can cut 1 llanowar scout for that 2nd swamp. Lets you cast Ulamog off the 10 basics, and let you dodge that color-screw a little more often.

So we've got Crucible of Worlds and Ramanap Excavator, but not even a single Field of Ruin? I feel like this deck would go nuts with a strip mine effect.

This deck is super sweet. But I feel like Mutavault is kind of useless/ redundant?

So I built this budget mono red god pharoh's gift pioneer deck, that uses iron crag feet and creatures that sac for Mana to ramp out GPG and bring those creatures back or use the ramp to power out a massive stone coil serpant. The deck can be bought for under 30$. It's really comsistant and fun 4 insolent neonate 4 skirt prospector 4 generator servent 2 abrade 2 scorching Dragonfire 2 treasure map 4 iron crag fleet 4 stonecoil serpant 4 god pharohs gift 2 pira nalaar 2 pia and Kira nalaar 2 Thrill of possibilities 22 mountains 2 blast zone

This but once Theros comes out add Dryad of Ilysian Grove and Dread Presence somehow. Also surprised there's not a single Field of Ruin anywhere.

I just feel compelled to ask Llanowar Scout or Arboreal Grazer?

My one concern would be some sort of UB control shell with Narsets and Ashioks. That seems like it would be good against this deck, given Ashiok can exile your grave and Narset prevents card draw. I get that the deck has its answers to that, but that could prove difficult for the deck to handle.

50:05 Why not just play double tireless tracker, + swordtooth, let him put you to 1, then spend the rest of the game cracking clues? Two trackers gain you way more life than the flyers are dealing, block everything, and quickly grow to lethal size.

There has to be room for field of ruin right? Even just one copy.
