Nope. You can't tell by looking at someone. You can certainly tell someone's NOT a Christian. But the reverse is not true, because Christianity is not a series of external changes, but an internal state change reflected in affirmed propositions. Saying that you can know someone is Christian by smiling eyes is such a foolish statement i think it crosses the line into false teaching

@@cosmictreason2242 Paul is speaking of a difference in the countenance of Christians, and I have noticed it too. More than once, a new acquaintance has said to me, I just knew you were a Christian. And I just knew they were too. How did we know? The "internal state change" you mentioned works itself outward. The bitterness is gone, the hardness is gone, and is replaced by peace and deep joy and trust in God. These are reflected in the face: the eyes (our outlook), the mouth (our words), and the hands (our deeds).

Without checking a dictionary, I believe the most straightforward meaning of submit is ‘to place oneself under’.

The entire Western culture that began with the ancient Greeks (adopted and transformed by Charlemagne, then transformed by the Reformation, the transformed yet again by The Enlightenment) was also destroyed. Politics, theology, philosophy, art, architecture, even science of the previous age was all destroyed. This was (roughly) the time (along with the following civil wars all over Europe until 1925) when the "Post-Modern, post-Christian" age began. Doug seems to continually opine about an age that was prior to WWI, which will never return. I contend that we, as Christians need to be Christian apologists, and disciples WITHIN the Post-Modern Post-Christian-age, rather than attacking it in favor of an age that can never be resurrected nor reformed. This is a daunting task. But I contend the only way Christian belief will be relevant in our post-modern, post-Christian age.
