That classic line really made me chuckle Jeff, " it's 'only' in the 80s today " 😂. Dream temperatures here. Great use of mulch, I tend to use bark here to keep in moisture and keep the weeds down
@@TropicalGardenGuy I say grafted, but to be fair I’ve not checked if it had a graft union. It only arrived a few hours ago. It’s a named variety at least anyway. I’ll take a closer look in the morning 👍
Hi! I’m learning so much with your videos! Thank you so much!! I grew up with lychees so bought a Kaimana lychee tree and am growing it in a container in Southern California. Had a bunch of flowers and fruits but then the fruit all turned brown, dried out and fell off. I water daily so wondering if you know why this happened and if you have tips to prevent this? Thank you so much!
So many variables there. First, you shouldn’t need to water a young tree everyday. Unless the pot is drying out. When you do water , make sure that you water the tree twice and the amount should be equal to the pot size. A five gallon pot should be watered with 5 gal of water… imo Also no fertilizer at this stage.
Ah we did fertilize when it bloomed and when we saw the fruits so that probably did it. Shucks, didn’t realize that. Thank you so much for that important advice and explanation! Looking forward to watching more of your videos, such great content!
@@TropicalGardenGuy how kind you are, I am in 9b as well, I am in Bay Area. I was told Bay Area is not a good place to plant Lychee, your video is convincing me it is possible
Hello ! I have 3 lychee tree seedlings here in LB California. A quick question is which acid soil do you recommend and which fertilizer?? I'm currently using plain garden soil but I want it to grow successful please help!
I’ve used miracle grow moisture control soil ( blue bag) for short term, say a year or less. Better to buy a airlayer at mimosa nursery and plant in ground as your weather in Long Beach should be almost perfect.
@@TropicalGardenGuy Thanks ! I'll definitely get that miracle grow bag and air layer and plant in ground soon. Would adding peat moss to the soil help too for lychee ? Thanks again I appreciate your help
