I don't care who you are or where you are from, those bagpipes must surely stir even the coldest heart. As a Scotsman it makes me so proud every time I hear them.
@Chunkymonkey7, it stirs my heart to hear bagpipes. I'm a Tamil lad from Chennai in South India and grew up in a Scots Kirk (St. Andrews in Madras). Many of my playmates at the time were Scottish. The Madras City Police started a bagpipe band in those days because one of the sergeants made a request.
My dad, a Scott, loved the bagpipes until a neighbour, where he rented an apartment, would start playing the bagpipes after midnight every night. My father needed to get up at 5am. That experience turned my dad off the bagpipes. But I love them.
My great great grandparents, came to West yorks from Scotland We live west yorks. Would move to Scotland if our sons had not settled over 200 mils South of us
That's why Paul McCartney wrote the song with pipes playing together. He is a musical genius and we have been blessed with his music. I love him forever 🙏
Makes me so proud to be British not just English, the Welsh male choirs, the Irish poetic music, & this it’s , a pity we don’t always see eye to eye but I love you all.
@@jamesbooker9411 You do know who wrote Mull Of Kintyre? Liking music from whatever country it comes from is not ‘claiming culture.’ English people are allowed to respect and enjoy another country’s culture be that Scotland, Wales, and Ireland... wherever. I suppose you only listen to music than comes from Scotland and nowhere else in the world as, according to you, you would be ‘claiming their culture’.
Love this; from an American whose ggggreat grandfather, Bruce clan, came from Scotland to the New World in the late 1700's. We all go to the local Scottish Highlands festivals each year here in Colorado. About 8 parishioners including my son, celebrate Easter at our local Church (Orthodox ancient Church) in Kilts. Our Bishop in California is Scottish and actually wore his kilt upon visiting us a few years ago. Tradition.
Proudly Scotland, the Highlander Bagpipers...from yours truly Simon Tay. Uplifting inspirations of a well blown tune, Mull of Kintyre. "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!"
Love the moment when the 40???bagpipers jumping into the song with just one deep tone like.....here we come, here we come! Amazing! Great song.Wish i was there! Thanks.
My Great Uncle belonged to the Black Watch. When the pipes marched into war the enemy called them the ladies from Hell because of the loudness of the pipes and the wearing of the kilt. Bless them all... Love to all.
@@KelpieDog My cheeks get wet any time I´m listening to Paul´s probably best song ever.🥲 A slow english waltz, the text, the melody and the bagpipes, simply great.
This only shows that Paul Mc Cartney has created an instand Folk-Song. And therefore it shows the genius he is. He should be the only one singing that song. Love from Germany to British brothers in hearts :)
I suspect McCartney would see the many covers of his song as a high compliment. Imitation, as the saying goes, is the sincerest form of flattery. McDermott and others do a fine job of it. Pipes are a necessity, of course!
I think John Lennon could do better. But really who care what I think. I would rather hear a Amazing Grace. Please don't get me wrong it is a beautiful song Mull of Kintyre.
Paul McCartney is the musical genius who created this beautiful music. I am certain his ego could handle someone else singing this creation of his. In fact I think he would be pleased to see it performed with such respect.

I hear this and shake fighting back tears. Why do I fight the tears? If I give in I will collapse to my knees and beat my chest and give the world the sound of real joy and sorrow mixed. Eres tae us, Scots! WHAS THERE LIKE US?
I love this song but I especially love the BagPipes!!!Aye, I do that for sure!!! My ancestry on my Maternal Grandmother's side is Scottish, from the Isle of Skye, the family name was Martin, but Macdonald was also a clan name of our.
There are no words, as we know them, none that speak what my heart holds…near to bursting…and the soul soars every time I hear bagpipes. Surely there must be bagpipes in Heaven!
I am a Scot, and I have lived in Beautiful Australia for over forty years, but every time I hear this song, all I want to do is go home again. Maybe I will get lucky, because I really miss my fish and chips.
My mother came to Aust when she was 22yrs, although she spend the rest of her life in Aust ( the largest part of it) she never forgot her " homeland", the pipes always brought tears to her eyes..
The first time I saw, "Trooping the Colours", in Canada, I became a Scott! I have Alway's wished to go to the Dundee Castle, to honor the "Trooping of the Colours" Scotland the Brave.
Marty Moore. I was born in Campbeltown. So we're my parents. Their wish was to be cremated and their ashes buried in Kilkerran Cemetery. We did that. There is a Memorial Garden In front of the Campbeltown Library in memory of Linda McCartney. I live in South Carolina and there are a lot of Scots here. Two.of.my.friends were.born.in.Campbeltown.
@flip inheck What do you mean? That Denny Lane is the author of this song? If you are implying that Denny is co-author, then you should have written "and Denny Laine" You would have been wrong, at the same, but you wouldn´t have made a fool at of you, suggesting that Laine is the solo creater of it...
@flip inheck I´m from Portugal. Not an expert in English. But, I bet i can write in your language much better than you in mine... Now, stick to the point: what do you mean by "Denny Laine"??? Are you trying to tell the world that the this song was written by him and not McCartney??? Or are you just being silly???
@flip inheck So, you should have written "and Denny Laine"!!! Not just "Denny Laine". There should have been an "and" before the name of Denny. Because, it´s very clear that, without the "and", what it does means is that you are saying that it is only Denny the author. Get it? Simple logic... And yes! It is a P. McCartney AND D. Laine composition! Although Macca have purchased the rights from Denny, some time ago, and now the title can be credited just to Macca.
@flip inheck No, we don´t. But we have brains here. Do you know what it is? Have you ever been closer than 5000 kms from one??? Course not! Don´t even know what it means... "Brain? What is it? Could I have one?" says the moron. No, you can´t! There´s no space for it in that empty bucket above your idiotic neck!... Now, don´t have any time left for little brainless kids. So, go... where you imbeciles use to...

This was played as a feature as a comtemporary tribute to Scotland in the Edinburgh Tattoo 2005 near the end of the program. Now that was a performance. And not many modern day music pop stars can say that their song was featured in the Edinburgh Tattoo.

I am Brazilian. But I had the opportunity to visit Scotland and know a little about its culture. It is a beautiful and welcoming country. The Scottish spirit is very warm. And the sound of the bagpipes makes me cry. I had no doubt and I ended up buying two of them in Edinburgh. That eventually served as decoration on the wall of my office. Because it is very difficult to play. Sir James Paul McCartney was sure to be very insumed (as always) when he created this beautiful song. And he made a great tribute to Mull of Kyntire. And of course to all Scotland. Detail I learned to sing this song in 1978. Hugs from Brazil.
It's so fast sound and Song.. Singer hurry up...good voice..Paul McCarthney and scots band...with bagpipes are amazing...there is melody...no hurry up 😂
@@fc4660 And, what´s even more: He´s not Sir Paul McCartney...😁. Isabel is right anyway. I`m german and able to pronouce "back" correctly; you don`t have to be a native speaker to do that.😉😇
It´s touching my 💔 and it`s wettening my cheeks almost any time, I´m listening to Sir Paul´s most beautiful song ever. Since 1977 I didn´t manage to sing along the whole song through. At the latest when I gotta sing "Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir"...OVER, it touches me so hard, that my tears prevent me from singing on. 😢😭😪🤧😵💫 Am I too sentimental? Yes, probably.🥴
When my second child graduated from college, Oklahoma State university/ he was an arts grad and they were piped in with the bagpipe. It was the most exciting way to bring grads in.
A mans a man for ah that. Its famous line is... Let us pray, that come it may as come it will for all that, that man to man the world over shall brothers be for all that. (in english so you will understand it. Lol) It was written by the Scottish Bard, Robert Burns. 1759/1796. In fact you probably sing another one of his songs every year at the "Bells" (New Year) its, Auld Lang Syne. He wrote a massive amount of song and poetry, his most romantic is, A Fond Kiss and My love is like a Red Red Rose. There are many others but those are the most popular. In nature, his famous one is To a Mouse (last verse very apt in todays world events). Then my favourite, On scaring wild fowl at Loch Turret. Today Loch Turret is now a reservoir above the village of Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland. Such a lovely part of the world. Nice distillery there, that blends, The Famous Grouse. Although Scotland is really a beautiful country, so is the whole world, its the people thats in it!! 🤣
What an impression with this version of Mull of Kintyre . I’m from Scotland and I remember my neighbour playing the bagpipes over the quiet night with the Northern Lights dancing in the background. It was Pure Magic. This was on the Isle of South Uist.☘️🌹🌛
