is it possible to have a color defined by a 3rd column in the table rather than the value (NOT Conditional Formatting) eg color based on team name rather than the value about the teams performance - Team A is represented in Blue - Team B is represented in black - Team C represented in Yellow - where Blue, Black and Yellow are a function of the Team name say column 3 rather than column 2 which is numeric?
Hi Oscar, it works in the same way in that you need to have a separate series for each team so you can colour them separately. i.e. instead of columns for 90+ Orange, 80+ Yellow, you'd have your team names.
Great video. I was wondering if there is a way to change the line color based on a date? (i.e. green line before January 1, 2022, red line after). Thanks.
Yes, you can. You need to enter them as separate series. I use the same technique in this tutorial for highlighting the min and max values: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/label-excel-chart-min-and-max Another idea here for you: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/highlighting-periods-in-excel-charts
Hi Mynda, excellent video! Liked and sub! Wonder would it be possible to color the area below the line all the way to zero with the same color represented by your colored lines?
Thank you! You could try using a column chart with zero gap width on the columns to create the illusion of a coloured area chart, but it wouldn't have the gradient fade from one colour to the next.
Dear Mynda, I need a line chart with color variation as mentioned below: Green under 69% Yellow from 70 to 79% Orange from 80 to 89% Red from 90 to 100% I guess the columns would be 90+ Red, 80+ Orange, 70+ Yellow and 70- Green. Can you help me with creating the formulas for the above columns ?
Please download the file from the link in the video description and try modifying it to suit your needs. If you get stuck, you can post your question and sample Excel file showing your attempt on our forum where we can help you further: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-forum
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Dear Mynda, I am unable to arrive at the formula that is required to highlight values between 70 -79. That is, I need four colors for four data points (less than 70, 70 to 79, 80 to 89 and 90+). Below formulas I got from your sample excel file but I am looking for one more formula for 70-79. 90+ Red =IF($B4>90,$B4,NA()) 80+ Orange =IF(AND($B4>80,$B490,$B4,NA())) 70+ Yellow ***** Need formula for values between 70 to 79 ***** 70- Green =[@[CPU Load]] Thanks & Regards.
I tried to use the 2nd way to color for 12 months day, if data of month is increase compared with previous month, highlighted to red, otherwise to green. But it didn't work perfectly. Some parts didn't change color. Could you please double check?
