I enjoyed your technique. Especially the red (brown?) wheel on top of the settings, great hack. I have a question: in the thumbnail of this video, the random joins of the settings onto the shank(s) can be plainly seen. Are those just left as is? It seems like you laser welded and then fused (high karat gold), no solder used in attaching the settings for the stones. Can those lumps and bumps be cleaned up for a refined look? Or is the weld a permanent blob? I'm considering this equipment for tacking before proper soldering/fusing. Thank you for your time. This style reminds me of octopus settings. Cool 😎

Thank you Randy! I am always looking for the easy way. Yes, the easiest it is casting, but: - My alloys are not good for casting - Casting it is not handmade - Casting it is not unique piece If is not handmade and if is not unique, why my customers will buy my product? There is always someone who will do it cheaper.... Coly

What about wax carving? I know as a professional jeweler you are always looking for the fastest and easiest way to do things because time is money, but do you not consider wax carvings to be original, unique and handmade?

I have 3d router and I don't use it for jewellery. Wax carving it is ok but my white gold alloy is not good for casting. Coly

are you using laser soldering to put those little cuplings to the ring because I cant tell whats is happening I just see a puff of smoke and it looks like it is soldered on there

Yes, 6 parts. It’s gorgeous! What is the part with what looks like a giant cup bur, but red. Is it a custom made tool to bring in the sides of those carved out bezels.? Never seen this tool. Such a gorgeous ring! How were you able to cut off the lip on the bezels, smoothed on the outside, yes still looking thick inside. Wish I could see what was happening on that what looks to be a shot plate... after the dapping block!

@@huskyfluffyIt looks like or similar to a Dedeco red (fine) silicone carbide wheel. Any tips or wheels can be custom shaped for whatever you need. It looks like this jeweler carved/shaped the inside of the tip to a bowl form. Perfect for this use. Google Dedeco and other producers, make what you need! 👍🏻

At around 9:30 You were sprinkling some sort of powder on the ring then you lit it on fire... what is that powder and why did you burn the ring like that?
