Honorable mention should include the US military P-38 and P-51 can openers . These are the smallest ever made and operate very efficiently . 12/22

Can openers and bottle openers are my most used tool in any multi tool. Eager to see who wins this battle royal.

Would have been nice to also see the Victorinox Compact combination can/bottle opener in the mix. Otherwise a nice comparison

I have used the gerber nxt suspension 2 times so far and it helps to have the flat side facing towards the outside of the can and the edge part facing the hre inside of the can i didnt really have to muscle it that much to be fair tho ive never used any other mutlitool can openers

Hey man, nice video! Excluding the can opener part, would you say the Roxon is a nice multitool to have? I just ordered one and I got a bit disappointed after watching your video.
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 Год назад
It’s an okay tool at the price. Keep in mind I’m putting it in competition with tools 2-3X the price which isn’t really a fair comparison. When it comes to my uses and collection overall it isn’t the best, but it has some decent qualities. Someone in the comments of my “16 tools over 3 years” video said the scissors are adapt at cutting tin! I never would have discovered that. Also the wine opener actually works easier than a Victorinox because of the leverage you can get with the bottle opener. The driver is a nice, simple and sturdy enough. Comes with a bit set too. Just because other tools meet my needs better doesn’t mean the Roxon is bad. I think you’ll find stuff you like and dislike about it, as with any tool. I kept it in my kitchen for about 2 months and reached for it a few times a day so I think you’ll get some good use out of it!

@@inkiron3907 Cool, thanks for saying that. Mine just arrived and I am quite happy with it. There's just one flaw (might be QA issue): The philips driver is extremely tight and hard to pull.

Trying to open OJ cardboard containers. These are cardboard -- yet they're very difficult. (I'm old and disabled.)

I recently saw an old Wenger Swiss Army knife. It looks like maybe Leatherman bought Wenger's intellectual property because Leatherman's Surge can opener is exactly the same as Wenger's and some of Leatherman's other tools (like the scissors) are very similar to Wenger's. Do you own a Leatherman Juice XE6? I own one but have never used the combo can opener but it doesn't look that great.

I don’t own a Juice, nor have a I handled one but I’ve heard many positive reviews of that tool. I may get one eventually given the interesting tool set! Not sure about the Wenger/Leatherman relationship. I’ll Google it!

Perhaps I missed it but I don't think you ranked the SOG.

Mm… you’re probably right. It wasn’t awesome, but it will open a can

Makes you wonder what is up with the design-to-production process within some of these companies. Do they not test their own designs? How do you sign off on making something that would make someone want to throw it against the room? I guess certain tool functions are prioritized over others, but STILL.

hey do you have any idea if the black oxide coating on leatherman is food safe or not?
@drakejosh808

and thanks for the video, gonna get the wave plus soon lol
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 Год назад
As far as a can opener it should be fine. I don’t use these coated tools for food prep so I cannot say if they are safe. I would recommend a separate blade for food prep, especially considering the possibility of cross contamination from the extensive surface area of even one Multitool pivot… seems like a real burden to sanitize

@@inkiron3907 ya totally agree, wasn't gonna use the stainless one either but just wanted to make sure in case of any emergencies. also ima be moving to france next month so i doubt if i can carry either of them at all haha

I believe you’re using the gerber backwards. Once I used it left-handed, it was much much easier.
