Mumbai Special Sandwich / Bombay Sandwich is a very popular street food of Mumbai which can also be found in most of the Indian restaurants worldwide and also in every state of India.
Every street in Mumbai is filled with many chaat corners and Sandwich Stalls where Sandwiches are served in different ways. Some are plain vegetable sandwich / Cheesy grilled sandwich / Toast sandwich / Masala toast sandwich lots more. Also this kind of sandwich with lots of cheese on top which are not grilled may be rare but I just love this version of the sandwich.
So I made sure to get the recipe directly from the Sandwich wala in Mumbai who serves amazing Sandwiches. As five star restaurants or Celebrity Chefs can’t give you this typical street style recipe.

Ingredients: Green chutney:
Coriander / Dhania leaves - 1 & 1/2 cups
Mint / Pudina leaves - 1/4 cup
Green Chilli - 3 ( as per ur choice )
Ginger - 2 inches
Chaat Masala - 1tsp
Salt - very little
Ingredients:
Sandwich white breads
Butter
Processed Cheese
Green chutney
Tomato ketchup
Cucumber
Tomato
Onion
Boiled potato
Above listed ingredients to be used as per your requirement.
Note:
- Adding 1 or 2 cubes of ice to the mixer jar while grinding the chutney will help it retain its color and doesn’t turn dark or blackish. Jus make sure to add very lil water if you are using ice cubes.
- Adding lime to the chutney would again make the chutney change its color and turn dark.
- You can also make plain vegetable sandwich just by skipping the cheese part and also make it a Mumbai grilled sandwich jus by grilling it from both the sides with cheese inside the sandwich.
- Freeze the leftover chutney in the freezer so that it stays fresh for very longer time and jus defrost it before use.
