An excellent ride around Muncaster Fell, Eskdale and Miterdale Forest.
I started the ride from a layby near Muncaster Castle. If you choose to park at the castle's car park they request donations at the castle gate.
This route is loosely based around a route from my Lake District guidebook: www.amazon.co....
Additional sections are in Miterdale forest and at High Ground on Birker Fell.

Just recognised some of this route from our ride earlier in the week also your ride with Trailfinder over to Wastwater, video on its way

We followed most of your route today but couldn't work out the section between Eskdale Green and the lane to Murthwaite Halt. Great route - definitely a keeper but we would return via the south side of Muncaster Fell as as the bridleway along the railway to the Watermill is bit tedious. The Eskdale section is particularly fine.

Nice ride Ian, there are some cut though runs you can add on too keep off the road, giggle ally is one and around Parkgate tarn 👍👍

Cheers mate, I did the bridleway past Parkgate Tarn (though I didn't see the tarn). Where is giggle ally?

@@Lakedistrictrider it goes up past the outward bound right at the loos and it brings ya out at the gate where you had ya sandwich 🥪, also there's a footpath over a boardwalk into the woods and a hidden track to the tarn and onto the great down hill to slap stones 👍

Yeah been round there couple times and up hardknott pass , love that road between wrynose and hardknott in the valleys nice views and eskdale that’s proper Lake District
