mundane moments ✸ four commonplace systems in four months ✸ journalling update 

hell yeah, I'm watching this while I'm struggling to catch up with my commonplacing!!

I use a Midori notebook for commonplacing, and a passport TN for lists and little things that don't need a big a5 page...I definitely see the appeal of the commonplace in digital, its very neat, but personally, I already spend so many hours of my day looking at screens and get overstimulated, that paper is a great way to rest my eyes and brain, I hope it works for u tho, it does make a lot of sense in copying things, cause by hand it can be tiring

I'm currently commonplacing the tarot from the book Holistic Tarot, which is a brick of a book, and it will take me years to long form write excerpts I need to create my own tarot codex. But it's so much fun! I'm doing it in an A5 ring planner with paper from a deconstructed Tomoe River paper notebook. Love your videos!

I use Traveler’s Notebooks for planning and journaling. I do a bit of common placing in them as well but am also torn between paper and digital. One tip I can recommend is to create an index. I give all my journal entries a title, number the pages, and index everything in the front. I also have an index for my planner for important info I might need later like dr visits, important phone calls, etc so I can refer back to them. When I was common placing on paper, I created an index for that too. Just need to number the pages and come up with a title. I have found there is something satisfying about reading the index bc it can trigger memories or give you other ideas.

I love the idea of digital. I’ve tried so hard but at the end of the day I’m very physical paper.

I've tried Notion for my commonplace but I didn't keep up with it. I am on a computer all day at work and when I get home, I rarely open my laptop. Then I tried using Goodnotes on my iPad. I realized that digital commonplacing is better in my opinion because I can quickly find things I've captured, but it's not the same as a notebook or ring-bound system. So, I'm still struggling to find what works.

Regarding google docs, you could try it in landscape and make the page two columns, to give that page view?

Wow, your handwriting is lovely. Perhaps a system that would allow you to upload your handwritten notes, and search them etc would be the best of both worlds? It would be a shame not to hand-write with your handwriting. :)
