One of my favorite players, Munenori knows little english, but very much japanese. Cubs have him right now, they better utilize him before I have a heart attack
For real bro. Imagine having to hear something, translate it to your native language, think of what you want to say, translate that into another language, and say it all while hammered.
I met him on the street one time after a blue jays game with his wife and child. Really nice guy... his wife took a picture of us and he told I should be wearing a helmet (I was biking home). Great fucking guy! One of favourites
Am I wrong in that i think he understands English perfectly but he pretends sometimes not to understand so he can make a joke? Either way, hes hilarious.
@@jsilva7005 I’m Japanese, and for me, speaking is way harder than listening. I can understand what the president of USA says, but I can’t even talk about my favorite food.
As an eng learner I can understand well this situation. "***you**Go*s*o***?" Hmm, he asks me about GhoSt(o), maybe! (not understand well about "I'm scared" "I'd scared" "I scare")
my favourite blue jay ever. at the time he joined the bench, morale was very low. the dugout needed a clown. he arrived, and everyone loosened up. everyone's stats went up. and he could play! i remember sitting in the 500s watching him knock that single to win it. clutch play in a tense moment.
I don't know shit about baseball, but I love his personality and was watching some clips. Some people saying he was a very good player, some people saying he was actually very bad. What was he actually like?
@@cooledry well he kinda rolled around the majors from team to team. So he got stuck in a lot of positions both in the batting order and defensively that made it difficult to stand out. Real lunchbox player as far as stats. But you don't spend years in the show if you're japanese unless you bring some skills.
REPENT and be BORN AGAIN believing on Messiah Lord Jesus, nothing more important, today is the day of salvation and Jesus can show you the truth, its not blind faith you can see it for yourself if you truly seek like promised. John 3:3 unless a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God / Luke 13:3 unless you repent, you will all likewise perish ⚠️❤️⚠️❤️
Essentially that was the case near the end of his stints with both the Jays and Cubs who, despite his being ineligible for play, invited him to join them during their respective postseasons because he was so good for team chemistry. Kawa being Kawa, he showed up for every game and you can see him out on the field celebrating with the Cubs when they won the Series that season
Spengrish actually... He learns English from his latino teammates. 😂 But seriously, the guy is a goofball in any language, especially in his mother tongue.
Kawasaki: Do you know Michael Jordan? Interviewer: yes, I know Michael Jordan Kawasaki: ok, because Michael Jordan once said: Have fun, enjoy the game 😂😂
I’m glad to watch this video. He retired last year. He is still my hero. I’m in America and I’m trying to make people happy like him. He is pure, humble, and honest. I respect him. I wanna be like him.
Once a t a interview, he said, “many Japanese people come here and don’t make it and they complain. They say the environment is bad, my English isn’t good, etc. Too many excuses. If you don’t like the environment, try to change it. Don’t complain.” He’s not only funny but very intelligent and works very very hard to where he wants to be. All Japanese love him!!
This is what confidence is. None of that arrogant, "no fucks given" attitude. Knowing you're not great at something, but eager to try and do your best. Watch everyone smiling in his presence. What a guy.
He WAS the team when we had him in Seattle. I missed him so much when he went to Toronto. Mune is truly forever a treasure to baseball. Fearless, and always so positive❤
I am living here in Japan and I regularly see him on TV doing commentaries on baseball specially about Ohtani and what he is presently doing now. Mr. “Kawa” is still THE man with lots of positive energy even on early morning sports news, , , 😊❤
I know someone who was a Kawasaki’s physical trainer in Japan. When the physical trainer’s son was born, he visited the trainer’s wife home to congratulate him. He is a truly nice guy.❤
After Munenori returned to Japan, he suffered from mental illness. Maybe he was trying too hard to play the character. But seeing him still playing in an independent league in Japan gives me courage. He is my number one hero because he followed Ichiro, whom I admire, across the ocean and was loved in a foreign land.
I know about this guy cause my ex is a baseball fan. He met Kawasaki in front of the US embassy in Osaka years ago and my ex said he was kind and very willing to take a pic
as a Jays fan in 2019...this man is a legend!! i want him back so bad!! his charisma would lift fans to a higher level! i LOVE you Muni!!! Never change!!
Mune. Munenori Kawasaki. We all miss you. You made all teammate and fans happy❤ After Mune retired his NPB career he is currently a baseball commentar in Japan. I hope, he wil be back to the field as coach one day.
I just woke up and did a beautiful meditation. Feeling great. Then I put this on and started smiling and laughing out loud. What a start to a day! Love this dude!
Seems like a stand up guy, not taking himself to seriously, not too worried or embarrassed about the language differences, having fun, just being silly. Swell guy.
It's true when he said he was shy. Kawasaki fought dysautonomia. I'm sure he genuinely enjoyed his time away from Japan, being surrounded by great teammates and local fans. I suffered from the same condition and left Japan, and it is slowly getting better. I act like a clown without being so shy in a foreign land, and I actually enjoy that. Ichiro or Ohtani may perform better in a filed. But for me, Kawasaki is the best baseball player.
It was after returning from the United States that Kawasaki learned that he had dysautonomia. That's why I don't think it can be cured in America. Clowns can't do that forever either. In his case, it was one of his jobs in America. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of Kawasaki energetic appearance on TV.
