Munetaka Murakami is the reigning MVP of the NPB. He is the third baseman for the Yakult Swallows of the JPCL. Murakami announced that after the 2025 season, he will be coming to the MLB, and is looking to sign with either a west coast team (maybe the Padres?) or the New York Yankees... Murakami wears the number 55 because of former Yankees star Hideki Matsui, who wore the number as well. Matsui also spent a decade in the NPB as a member of the Yomiuri Giants. Murakami definitely has a swing that I feel can translate to the MLB, and his swing reminds me of a player we talk about in this video, whom you might know... Munetaka Murakami is Japan's best player currently, and it will be interesting to see what kind of contract he can receive once he makes the jump to the MLB ($300 million maybe? Hint, hint, wink, wink.)
