If someone needs to build monstrous turntables on big racks similar to Dubai towers to get a good sound, it means that is better to try and run across another path to get good sound.
It's hard to believe at now some 40+ years since the creation of the CD and digital sound, that records with their inherant and un-correctable faults (inner groove loss of dynamics) should command as much floor space for turntables. I find it astonishing. Only some, a very limited few pressings, are worth the effort...and the expense.
The sound of a well recorded CD on a really good player is way better than vinyl. Many make the mistake of comparing a high class turntable with a € 300.- CD player ..assuming all digital is the same anyway ! The dynamic range alone of a CD is 40% (!) higher by nature than on an LP … check if you don’t know it yet. Clicks and pops are not there and the background is pitch black. Vinyl is a hype because of its „romantic“ aura and it’s simple mechanics … nothing more!
I had a hard time to understand some of what Mr. Fusaro of Unison Research was saying. So I might add this: Unison Research sounds perfect with the Gold Lion EL82 and KT77. It has the perfect balance of the additional Power of newer Tubes with the sound of NOS Tubes. JJ gives you a ton of Power, but the sound doesn't come close to neither nos or Gold Lion. And no. You don't need more than a Unison Research Amp. Even if there is more. :) If you do, you might find the same "no BS approach" at KR Audio. I would love to see KR Audio represented in a similar way... Working on it...
