Muntjac in Long Grass 

Hi Steve, yes it's tricky trying to avoid being seen by them, and they definitely pick up on noises and scents. I was in the shadows of a wooded border adjacent to the meadow, and that helped quite a bit. The hard part was not making too much noise with lots of twigs and dead branches on the ground. The scent of your dogs will certainly make them alert. If you know of any spots with deer try approaching it from downwind and that might help. Best time for spotting them in my experience is very early morning or in the hour before sunset, and the fewer humans about all the better. I've lost count of the times I've been about to video them but they've got scared off by others approaching along the trail.

I don't wear camo or a ghillie, just green/grey bland colours. A lot of rain helps soften the forest floor and lessens the noise of our footsteps.
