An overview of the new Beans update(v11) to muOS CFW for Anbernic RG35XX-H and Plus. This update brings massive changes, such as 64-bit Portmaster game support, standalone N64 and PSP emulators, and tons of QOL updates.

Mine came in the mail today. I have about 12 modded consoles, so I'm not as geeked as I should be but I'm still looking forward to what custom firmware brings to the mix. editors note: got portmaster up and running. AM2R is incredible, GTA: Vice City is great and I bought Stardew and its on there as well. Couldn't be happier.

HDMI out is working but in order to get the audio to go through HDMI you have to set the audio device setting in retroarch to HDMI. Bluetooth is not working yet. However people have said that connecting controllers with the OTG port is hit or miss depending on the controller. I have yet to try it but plan on doing that soon.

If it had bluetooth and HDMI support it would be perfect. Batocera had me spoiled with the built-in scraper too but really it's the HDMI and bluetooth that hold me back from making the switch. Portmaster adds a whole new dimension to this little device.

I completely understand. Everyone has different needs and priorities with these devices. HDMI support is halfway there and will be fixed up kinda soon. But I think bluetooth is further away. Thanks for watching the video!

Is there a noticeable difference in using the 32-bit and 64-bit version? I'm currently using the 32-bit compatibility version of Stardew Valley and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to switch to 64-bit.

im use garlicOS on the original RG35XX, ive decided to order the plus model. im used to holding menu during a game to get ingame hotkeys menu and making some changes now and then in retroarch. is this possible on muOS during a game? or is every game played the same as you shown in n64 emulator?

No that is just for the standalone N64 emulator. Most everything else uses retroarch and you can change those menu+" " hotkeys to whatever you would like.

You should be able to hit the select button on the game selection menu. Then select Nintendo 64 and then choose a core.

Thanks! You will want to double check that you are connected to your wifi. May even want to disconnect and reconnect.

@Niklasquaresma I was having that issue myself it would show when I was offline but wouldn't show when I was online I gave my system a reset and switched off static wifi and then it worked for me

Would you recommend to use 1 SD card or 2 cards? If 2, should I install the OS on one card and ROMs on the second one?

Yeah, most people recommend using 2. The main benefit is that if you update the firmware and have to flash the 1st SD card again you don't have to do anything with your roms that are on the 2nd card.

@@dknnyy If you don't back up your saves before flashing the update yes. But with the backup manager tool it makes it easy to back up your saves.

Why can I get Stardew to run on my older 351p, but not my 35xxh? I have tried copying the [compatability] files as well as ones I downloaded through the consol.

A two SD card setup will make it easier when you have to flash the main SD card to update. Other than that it mainly comes down to how much space you need or how many SD cards you want to buy.

They are both great devices. You really can't go wrong with either one. 35h/+ has a bit more power but Onion OS for the MM+ is still the gold standard of custom firmware. It might really come down to what games you think they would want the most and the form factor they might like.

He has big hands as I do so that made me think that he might like more the horizontal form factor but I love my miyoo mini + with onion as you said, so my decision comes down mostly to that custom software experience. I don’t feel like the vertical form factor is a deal breaker for me but i haven’t tried the H.

Depending on if he is tech savvy or not might also influence your choice. If you think he may like learning about how to update the software and messing with it go with the 35H. But if you want to get something that he will not have to mess with and just work get the MM+ with Onion OS. With that the over the air update with be easy and since you already have one you can help with any troubleshooting if he runs into any problems.

Hmm, If the device is not picking up any wifi networks when you try to scan with the X button, you may have to enter the name of your network manually.

I do not think there is one working for idle timeout. I think as of right now you would have to manually hit the power button for the low power mode.

True. I don't think it has a video player. I don't consider that as big of a deal as something like Bluetooth which people seem to look at as a major feature. Video players are a nice bonus feature though.

With battery percentage basically only being a visual display of voltage, it's ridiculously unreliable. I think they removed it as it was causing a lot of confusion.

The battery indicator is very inaccurate. I'm doing a full battery drain test and I'll let you know my findings. Let me know what else you experience with it too.

Very new to this hobby (literally got my device 4 days ago) but videos like yours make this much less daunting for a noob, so thank you friend! Just subbed! I have a question tho, I downloaded the cheats for PPSSPP from the link in your bio, copied it to the SD card and installed it via archive manager, but I dont know how to activate it within the emulator. I don't see a 'Cheats' option on the main menu, wondering if I did something wrong. Is there anything else I need to do to enable cheats?

Welcome to the hobby! Glad my videos can help and thanks for subbing. Yeah I forgot to mention that by default muOS has cheats disabled. To enable them: Launch a psp game Hit the menu button Go to Settings > System Scroll down on the right side until you find the option to enable cheats. Then you should see the Cheats setting on the main PPSSPP menu like in the video.

Wasn’t expecting a reply from you that soon! Thank you!! I just did that and I’m still not seeing the cheats option on the main menu in PPSSPP even thought the check box is ticked. Wonder what I’m doing wrong. I downloaded the file from your link, copied it on to the SD card under the archive folder. Then put the card back in, fired up archive manager and hit install on the same file. Went to GoW, ppsspp settings-> system -> enable cheats. Am I missing something? 😅

@@greezelybear8211 As with most of these Linux devices, These types of updates are normally packaged into the updates of the OS itself just like how Retroarch was updated to 1.18 with the Beans version. Updating them yourself can cause issues so its not unreasonable to disable them so people don't mess things up by accident. If you know what you are doing you can still manually update shaders/cheats by adding them to the Retroarch folder on the SD card but they should be updated when new version come out.

Nope, this is the Linux version. After installing with Portmaster, It requires you to add Linux files. I'm currently making a video tutorial for it.

Forgot to mention this. It does not have a built in scraper yet, still being worked on. It does support box art but it would need to be scraped off device with something like Skrapper.

needs more work. previous os was stable than this one. keeps locking up in any menu selection. loads some roms and not all. flash sd card twice Also, redownload file twice to make sure its not corrupted file. still the same issue. going to wait for next update after a while.

@@PhyrexTechs downloaded it for 3rd time. flash it again and no lock ups. scummvm still dont work. most roms/emus work. havent tested the others. had my rg35xxh for 3 weeks and havent explore muos features. oh becareful using previous muos downloaded themes because it will lock up at loading screen. hitting reset and still lock at loading. end up flashing sd again. good thing i did my backups before muos bean .
