Muscle Glycogen vs Liver Glycogen...how much glycogen can the body store.
Muscle glycogen is stored differently than liver glycogen. Sugars from starches like a white potato are mostly stored in the muscles while fructose from fruit and high fructose corn syrup are stored in the liver.
The body can store about 400 to 500 grams of muscle glycogen depending on how big you are and about 50 to 100 grams of liver glycogen.
All the health problems start (metabolic syndrome/fatty liver disease) when the liver is full and you keep on eating more fructose.
How to eliminate high fructose corn syrup:
start looking at labels
avoid soda
stop eating processed foods

where dose dextros store muscle or liver?
@MikeCola
@MikeCola 5 лет назад
@@musclelift ...It’s a little confusing... but I think dextrose is mostly stored in the muscles because it is pretty much the same as glucose. Dextrose is the sugar from corn (corn starch). High Fructose Corn Syrup is ½ glucose and ½ fructose so it will be stored in both live and muscle. Best - Mike

I probably would start taking long walks and keep yourself in a mild calorie deficit. If you go on a low-card diet you will also get ride of water weight and lose some volume to the muscle cells. If you've been training heavy your whole life I would definitely lighten up the weights and do a greater time under load. I remember watching an interview with DORIAN YATES when he talked about wanting to lose muscle mass and how he did it...I think it was London Real. It was interesting. If I can find it I will send it to you. Hope this helps. Best - Mike

I have a small question sir. 1)Can I take glycogen liquid while during workout? Because at that moment our body observe glycogen well. 2) can I add creatine with glycogen liquid? Because creatine helps to observe water and glycogen content in body. 3) how much glycogen our body observe while during workout? Because if i take more glycogen during workout, it observe all? Or excess is waste?
@MikeCola
@MikeCola 4 года назад
Hi Abhilu, 1- You can take a glycogen liquid (sugar) while working out. Some will be used (burned) up while working out and the excess will be stored away in the form of glycogen. 2- You can add creatine...It might be better absorbed with the sugary liquid. 3- How much glycogen you absorb depends on how much you consume. The average person can store anywhere between say 1,200 to 2,000 calories of glycogen in the muscles and liver. The bigger you are the more you can store. The excess can be converted into body fat. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video. Best - Mike

Basically - have enough carbs to regenerate your glycogen but no extra or it turns to fat. Stay sway from sugra because the fructose in it (~50%) is processed in the liver identically to alcohol and gives fatty liver disease which causes diabetes and other metabolic syndromes. Adapting to burn more of your body fat makes it easier to eat less often, not crash after having no carbs, and other things. Humans in prehistory didnt need to eat 4 times a day plus snacks.. they ate when they found food and ran off body fat for the rest, plus maybe lean meat from small animals and fish in between the larger hunts which would have been fattier. Get your protein, enoygh carbs to regenerate glycogen adequately but not crazy carb-loaded, and fat for the rest of your needs.

Hello Mike. I always had a nice healthy skin but for the past 3 years or so my face is always red. Dermatologist says its dermatitis. I now know every skin problem begins in the gut. With this said, I wanted to ask you if you think a low carb diet can help me overcome this and also if I can keep eating oatmeal, potatoes and rice for carbs. Thank you.
@MikeCola
@MikeCola 6 лет назад
Hey Rich...sorry about the dermatitis. I do think that a low carb all natural diet will help your gut health. In addition, intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating could help too. The type of carbs you want to eat (prebiotics) should feed the good bacteria (probiotics) in your gut. High fiber nutrient dense carbs are the way to go. If you're eating low-carb, stick to mostly vegetables and some resistant starches. If you like potatoes and rice... eat them cold. They turn into a resistant starch when they are cold. Hope this helps...all the best - MIke

Hi Do I need carbs to do weight lifting As l'm diabetic ,?
@MikeCola
@MikeCola 5 лет назад
Hi Emad, If you are diabetic I would check with your doctor and see what he or she thinks..... That being said, If I was diabetic and wanted to weight train. I would get my body acclimated to a low-carb diet. I would go on a modified ketogenic diet. Keeping my carbs at about 50 to 100 grams (per day) and take it easy in the gym until I became somewhat fat adapted. Once your body gets used to eating a low-carb diet you should be able to weight train without a problem. Hope this helps. Best - Mike

Hi Ashley, I would avoid fructose... It goes directly to the liver. Think of liver glycogen more for raising blood sugar in general and for the brain. I don't think there's any particular exercise that will burn more liver glycogen.

I don't eat processed food at all. But during hectic work life I end up consuming more of healthy food that does in fact turn into fat and not stored in muscles. Could you expand at what point the body will fire up it's muscle to use calories rather than stored in fat. I can only think that doing a few sets strength training prior to meal would do. Apart from that it goes straight into fats
