Muscle Spindles: Innervations and Alpha-Gamma Coactivation

How does hair-pulling relate to alpha-gamma coactivation in muscles? In this video, I give an overview of muscle spindles and their innervations. Through various examples, I explain the components of a muscle spindle, the types of information that are picked up by sensory nerve fibers, and the difference between nuclear bag and nuclear chain fibers.

When I look for explanation videos, I normally have to pause, go back, and try again to understand but this was SO clear. I couldn't figure out for the life of me how alpha-gamma coactivation worked but you did a great job w this!

This is such an amazing explanation/video. It's clear and concise while giving all the right details. I don't have to find another video to fill in any gaps and I don't feel like I'm wasting my brain/time with outside information that is mildly relevant to the topic ( especially when I'm just trying to learn the foundation). Thank you!!!

You should have added what happens with alpha gamma coinhibition in the antagonist muscle group. The inhibition of both alpha and gamma neurons help the antagonist muscle not fight against voluntary motion. So there is a coactivation and coinhibition when it comes to the alpha gamma neuron relationship

I seriously don't get what you mean by "The intrafusal muscle is stretched and therefore it increases action potential". The muscle is stretched which should mean it is relaxed, why would it release action potential? The only way I am thinking about this is if they are antagonist muscles. So the tricep receptors sense that they're stretched and therefore they increase the action potential on the biceps, but that doesn't make sense. Please do help me understand.
