My father has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t remember much of anything but he remembers the lyrics of this song and sings them every time it’s played. I always tear up when I hear the finale of the song. Love you dad

This song alone is reason enough to buy decent headphones. The experience is...cathartic...

4:09 The high note at the end of this song was fantastic. It was a wonderful vocal that almost made me cry.

I love how Muse tends to release songs that are hated by their fanbase and 10 years later they become classics.

I might be alone in my belief that the 2nd Law was a criminally underrated album, and this song is one of Muse's finest.

One of my favourite songs of all time. The build-up, the drum clicks, the synth, and the guitar, perfectly synching with Matt's unique voice. When he screams "I need your love", chills travel up and down my spine. What an epic song. ❤

There's an excellent reason why Muse is so popular and respected, it's because they cannot be easily classified into just a genre of music, they are a versatile band whose music can attract nearly all kinds of audience. Not only they experiment with different sounds (check the difference between Hysteria and this song!) their music is also ensured quality. They experiment, but they do it right.

I’ve been searching for this song since I was 11 and haven’t been able to find it. I’ll be 21 in 2 weeks. You guys have no idea how happy I am right now, lol.

For me, it's the 20 second guitar solo at 3:07 that is short but infinitely perfect. Makes my brain happy and produces that buzzy serotonin/chills throughout the body effect. The layering and build is without fault; this song I never get tired of listening to.

Madness is a perfect song. The way the bass syncopates with the dark, 90's industrial keyboards and his ethereal, ghostly voice at the songs climax is absolutely spine tingling.

The kind of song you listen to when you have had a few drinks and miss someone so much. And when that part "I need to love" comes, it hits you hard and you are so tempted to pick up the damn phone and make that forbidden drunk dial.

the part when he shouts: "i need to love", I fell my entire body feels goosebumps...

Sometimes when I feel really low I listen to this song as it is my favourite song performed by them. I close eyes in bed at night and then at 4:09 onwards, I get this massive rush of goosebumps. I just fully relax, let the song takeover and I feel like I'm floating.

This song hits me in the solar plexus. When Matt, projects his vocals to sing " I need to love", WOW, it's gets to me every single time!

The pain at realizing you were only holding yourself back, and that opening to love is the answer. His voice is so raw. Always brings me chills

This song is still as relevant and goes just as hard now in 2023 as it used to when it was released in 2012. It gives me the same chills today as it did the first time I heard it. It's an amazing piece of music. That bass... And the way they build up the sound... I have no words to describe the feeling. It's flawless.

I just love the escalation of this song. It starts at a very low pace and it's amazing how it gradually, patiently rises until 4:10, when you simply stop doing whatever you're doing just because you get too overwhelmed. Headphones are mandatory for this song.

Muse usually have two kinds of music. First is the one that you instantly love, like Hysteria, Supremacy or Dead Inside. The other one is like Madness, which sounds boring at first listen, but once you "get" it, is impossible to not love.

Anyone else feel like they’re drifting far from reality whenever they listen to this song? Because I do and I feels just right.

I remember hearing this song when I was like 11 or 12 and became obsessed with it. About two years ago it randomly popped into my head and I couldn’t remember the name. I finally found it after awhile and I’m just as equally obsessed with it. I think it’s where my love for music started.

Memories are the most important thing to Alzheimer’s peeps. I’m caring for my father, and he is near the end. Bringing up his past, and youthful memories seems to to keep him energized. It’s extremely difficult, for me.

I saw them in a concert, finally, this summer, and OMG, they are the best performers (alive)!

After the disputes that I read here, I must also share my opinion: When I look at the work as a whole and the statements of "Muse", then I say that every album from "Muse" typically "Muse" is because Matthew Bellamy likes to experiment with the music and really tries (in comparison to other bands / musicians) to create with each song / album something new. Even though the album "The 2nd Law" is fundamentally different than the previous albums and contains "atypical" sounds, it is still typical "Muse" because it shows the joy of experimentation. In "The 2nd Law" you can notice it clearer than ever. Conclusion: Despite the very different sounding sound compared to the previous albums, it is a typical "Muse" album because of the still existing passion for experimentation.

That message is INCREDIBLY TOUCHING - awesome.

I can't believe that I'm just now discovering this awesome song, it was the story of my marriage unfortunately. (30 yrs. Together 33) ended as bad as anything ever could, she literally hates me. I try to her and fool myself sometimes for a day or so but I don't have the ability to unlove. And I don't think anything is wrong with that. I would never take her back, the level of distrust is off the charts. I wouldn't fall asleep in the same house that she's in, I certainly wouldn't eat anything she cooked, I wouldn't want her walking behind me for that matter. Sad when it's like that but life goes on regardless. Love this song.

Just saw this live in Portugal, 2022. This song is absolutely AMAZING, i didnt expect myself to tear up but i just couldnt stop - and Matthew was singing this with all his heart, enjoying himself, having a great time and playing around, getting some laughs out of the crowd. it was an ethereal moment

Always listen to this song when I’m alone in the car. I’m usually with my kids all day . But when I get my ten mins alone I play this song and it brings out the most profound feelings . I get to feel my soul leave my body for a second to be ready and come back to be a mom to my 2 beautiful kids . One of my favorite songs .
