Correct translations: 1. Please keep the restroom clean (lit. "Please use the toilet cleanly") 2. Children and the elderly should not eat [the jelly]. (lit. “Do not eat [the jelly], children and the elderly”) 3. The coffee will no longer be available after it is finished. (Basically we will not refill it after it's finished) 4. Clap your hands.

It's saying that coffee is a source of energy, and that when all energy supplies are all over, the only option is the get energy from coffee beans, which are limited. Which is saying after hundreds of centuries, of entire suns being harvested for energy, eventually burning out like dust, and coal becoming less prominent on the blue marble, the only thing that exists to continue human life is coffee. And if that coffee is finished, _its all over._ This was my Ted talk, thanks for listening.

I used to work in a Japanese-owned factory in the US. They had someone in Japan translate all the machine error messages to English for the new line that was installed. The only one I remember was, "Thread count is nothing of a start on." It meant we needed to refill the screws.

"Please urinate with precision and elegance" is actually good advice to write in urinals. A lot of guys don't follow that advice and end up splashing pee everywhere. If only they start being precise with their equipment and pee elegantly, we'll have cleaner urinals for everyone.

The reason these translate weirdly is because they are weird in America. Here in America we don't have jelly that children and elderly can't eat, coffee is almost always unlimited, but we definitely could use some precision and elegance in the public restrooms.

this video is truly inspiring, people who know actual japanese can read what these are actually saying, but they cannot feel the same level of deepness as us non-japan speakers Duolingo wil one day ask me, "japanese or broken knees?" and i would choose broken knees, so i can always feel touched and inspired by how great the japanese language actually is, so great until you dont even have to learn it. learning it ruins "the moment"
