I am so jealous of your CNC setup. Nice application of CAD design with bow building. I never thought about that, it’s a game changer. Solidworks is my preferred CAD program for designing for my 3D printers. I wouldn’t use it to model a bow although…or maybe I would? What CAD software do you use for your bow designs? Awesome video, I subbed, looking forward to more videos.
It is an asymmetric design with the upper limb longer than the lower. It is a more complicated design but when done correctly, it allows more energy transfer to the arrow
Nice bow but that’s way out of my league brother, I’m still using an axe, a draw knife and card scrapers. My end result isn’t near as nice though, keep up the good work.
A cut to center shelf opens up your window of tune, making it more forgiving. Let's take for example you don't fully expand your draw when you're in a tree stand in late December and it's 5° and you're wearing a bunch of extra layers. That cut to center riser is going to be much more forgiving of that short draw , still giving you good straight arrow flight and impacting where you want to. Now you take the same situation with a sight window that is cut well outside center, and your short draw at least impacts to the left but also may have the back of the arrow slam off the back of the riser, robbing it of a lot of energy, significantly decreasing penetration. Both bows can be tuned to a perfect tune, but when you have a form flaw or something isn't perfect, the center cut shelf/sight window will always be more forgiving
I'm assuming you are referring to a reverse handle ASL? If so, I have a model called the Northern Styk, which is a reverse handle. However it is a string follow, not a backset. I do not build a reverse handle with backset
I have a backset HH Cheetah and it's a great bow. All the guff about backset asls being harsh in the hand is just that. I'll happily trade the supposed harshness for the extra zip.
That bow takes everything that makes an ASL and throws it out the window. It may be a nice bow, but it is NOT a properly built ASL. Heavy mass weight, cut to center risers......that's not really what an ASL is about. No thanks.
