i use popcorn also. I use 1 teaspoon of coffee per bag of popcorn. Then i pressure cook it for 21 min. Then i strain it then. Then i dump it out of strainer onto towel on my counter. Lay it out thin. Let it sit til its cool and dry. Bam ready for jars and sterilization. ❤. Love your vid. Thank you. I also save some of my corn coffee water to make agar with. Makes mycelium move fast across the agar
So the only thing I left out on the video was if you use more then 1 bag of corn , after you simmer it for a hr , then let it rest to dry off give it more then a hr , I do 2hrs now
I live in a country where there aren't really alot of 15 psi pressure cooker (heck they don't even have gauges here, just used for casseroles or what have you). Is it good to assume that using that pressure cooker will be better than doing the steam route?
Another good question, I have yet to use a pressure cooker. I had to make the choice between a pressure cooker and the steam pot I chose the steam pot because it’s just simpler. The pressure cooker can over complicate things I think sometimes and you can only use that for one thing, a pressure cooker .
Hi there and thanks for the comment. The coffee grounds are many used if you plan on using a MSS . So far everything has worked with the corn , I used new coffee ground when I did mine . Good luck on your first grow and please do not forget to clean and wash your hands. Super important.
Those are canning jars, why do you think they will blow up? I can hundreds of jars a year at 15 PSI, not one has "Blown Up". they are made for pressure canning so they are safe.
Ya I get that but I like to get as much out of a jar I can, I use 1 qt jar pre shoebox and it seem to be working good . Thanks for the info , sorry it took me time to hit u back
Popcorn I get is for human consumption so it has to go through a process to be cleaned and all that before it’s packaged for people to buy. Field corn or also known as livestock feed is not cleaned or washed so there can be more contaminants on the corn like bacteria and stuff like that.
I do put holes in the lids but later on in the videos , I’m teaching myself how to do things so i teach me and y’all the different ways how to do things
@@JaysMycology all my jars are getting bacterial contamination like I can get them mostly all white but then some of it looks like wet rot that colonized well
@@JaysMycology I mean after the steam bath/PC are you supposed to let them sit overnight to reabsorb the moisture. I don't soak and simmer popcorn I just simmer and steam bath it
I simmer the corn for 1hr for it to absorb moisture then pull in out and I use a strainer to get rid of the water. I let it sit there for an hour or so so I can dry off before I stick it into my jars. I then steam it for 2 hours
You wanna use spent coffee grounds so the nitrogen isn’t super high. Or I skip coffee ground and put a few tablespoons of gypsum instead. Good vid brother
Must be talking about the boiling point , shouldn’t be bad cause you sterilize once it goes into the jars it should be good. But I guess we will find out . Stay turned to find out cause I’ll be inoculating them jars in the next day or two.
It's not a matter of sterilization. It is a matter of tap water being tainted with hydrofluoric acid aka fluoride, chlorine (which creates chloroform when it reacts with decayed plant matter), and psychotropic pharmaceuticals that outdated water treatment systems and faucet filters don't remove from the water. Boiling the water only concentrates these poisons.
