Really interesting and thought provoking thanks. I think I’ve only just started getting these same mushrooms because my lawn has recently just come good, in that I mean it’s nice and lush and much denser than it’s ever been and I’ve been leaving some cuttings on it with over seeding recently, So I’d tend to agree it may be helped by scarifying and getting a bit more air flow in there. Which is what I’ll try next. Thanks again. All the best. 👍🏼

If you can see a toadstool on your lawn then the spores have already been released. They also spread through Mycorrhizal networks under the ground. Picking them won't make any difference, it's just a waste of time. Picking will stress out the Mycorrhizal network stimulating it to push out more toadstools.

I just saw few in my lawn and suddenly thought that your fertiliser must be working because grass looks better but also these shoots appeared. @wakayama1991 2 года назад
hi, just saw this comment, and thought I would let you know something I tried. I got lawn rust last year on some longer grass (I was lazy and didn't cut for a couple of weeks...). I cut the grass, and then applied neem oil. All of it went in no time. Might have been a coincidence, but worth a try. Neem oil also good for suppressing big-ass grubs that live in the soil and munch on roots, so a win win. Cheers

You can't eliminate fungi, only contain it for specific areas and periods of time. Fungi evolved on earth a billion years ago, so it knows a few tricks about survival. Mycorrhizal fungi are beneficial soil organisms that help plants to grow healthy, so not all fungi is bad for the soil. Unfortunately some lawns will die off quickly from fungal diseases. Dethatching and aeration will help, but good fungicides are expensive. Also fungal species can build up a resistance to fungicides.

These mushrooms come and go and are harmless to kids and animals. Just a result of a lot of moisture in the soil and the right temperatures which makes the fungi in the soil grow and the mushrooms pop up. Aeration during moist periods can help if you don't like the visual effect of them as well as reducing nitrogen in your fertilisation plan in the autumn.

I would have ugly mushrooms all over my yard in the morning and they'd be gone by noon and pop the next morning. After doing some research, I bought a bottle of dawn dish soap that comes in that spray bottle and one morning I sprayed directly on top of the mushrooms that were growing in my yard and it killed them within minutes. The next morning no mushrooms!! The soap did not harm my Palisade Zoysia neither.

Best way to get rid of any mushrooms from your lawn without you having to break your back or break sweat is to inform all the local junkies you have magic mushies growing and every morning you wake up and open the curtains it’s a miracle? Just like the magic fairies have collected their brew for the teapots lol.🥴😎😋😚🤪😌😉😆🥴

I'd take mushrooms over weeds any day. Mostly upsides and they aren't actively murdering the grass.

I don’t wish to be pedantic here but I would refer to those as toadstools mostly bad for human consumption, rather than in the mainly edible type white mushrooms. I personally try to dig the root out as well with a screwdriver not, sure it makes much difference though but never had as many as you have had.

Largest organism in the world, I think in the Amazon some of the root systems spread for hundreds if miles.

I read somewhere they can spread half a mile in a day don't know how true that is but I've never seen anything grow so fast

Mycelium networks are what keep forests alive. If you have mushrooms in your lawn it means it is extremely healthy and you should promote them rather than try kill them. Obviously try remove poisonous varieties if you have kids or dogs

I watered my lawn less and the mushrooms disappeared. In some places where there’s lots of rain, that’s not an option.

yep. i don't need to water the lawn in the northeast usa, but i have a patch that gets absolutely soaked when it rains for a solid week and it's where all the mushrooms pop up. can also see black 'soil' in the grass in small spots.
