Oh, you got such an ear, pointing things out in a song I've heard a billion times but still manage to show me something new, which really tells of the band's mega quality. Please pause and comment all you want and go on, Jinjer is too much fun and a world to explore. This is a bit old, nothing wrong with that, btw, love their old stuff, but I guess "Vortex" from their last album could be interesting to react to.

You mentioned the drummer's (Vlad) relaxed fulcrum. Vlad only taught himself the drums for the band he was in just prior to Jinjer because they couldn't find a drummer. He played guitar for that band until he had to switch to drumming. Vlad is the only one in the band with formal music training. He's a classically trained pianist, which may be where that technique he uses was adapted from.

He's also unflappable. "Relaxed" is his default setting. Dude just doesn't get rattled. Tatiana likes to screw with him to try to get him flustered. There's a vid somewhere of them being on stage getting ready to start their set, and Tatiana flashes a boob at him and Vlad doesn't even seem to notice.

Yes, Wacken was an awesome comcert of Jinjer and yes I'm quite frequently at Wacken, but no matter if they play infront of 85'000 people or 2000 at a small venue, they always give their best. I did saw them in fall 2021 at the Z7 in Switzerland, a small location and it was just awesome .. okay, also a break from the pande.... it was so awesome.

@@ursmetzger I had the opportunity to see them in Oct. 2023. Small venue due to the virus. I can't believe it was in front of 250 or so people. The closest, loudest and most bad assed concert ever. Killer guitar, killer bassist (self taught), killer drummer (classic piano trained), and a vocal godess. Two years ago when I discovered this band, it was love at first listen amazing. It's one of those few bands that are as good live as in studio. This is a band not formed in studio but with many hours on the road, when the next gig was their only money to survive. That's how diamonds are formed

I listened to them back in 2015 when "sit stay roll" came out, when they were more like a hardcore/beatdown band with some clean vocals and I'm more then surprised and happy about their evolution, Jinjer is just dope! and I also guess they have a new drummer since then, so the `classical piano trained` drummer is new to the band.

So much good stuff from them. Pause, replay and analyze all you want. Someone will probably complain but there's plenty of folks just listening and making faces. Your knowledge and appreciation are very welcome. Subbed. As others have said, Perennial live at Wacken is the ideal great next step. Who Is Gonna Be The One is another that is well worth doing sooner rather than later, especially since the instrumental composition is fire - the re-composed it to work with just Roman's guitar and Eugene's bass after their rhythm guitarist left and it's far more sophisticated than the original imo. Several have mentioned Home Back which is about their experiences when their hometown was caught in the 2014 war in eastern Ukraine that set the stage for the the current invasion. It hits hard and speaks powerfully for the millions of ordinary people caught in the middle of every war.

Also.. not sure if it was mentioned.. but time signatures are 7/8, 6/8, and some 4/4 slash 8/8 mixed in. Update- verses 1 and 2 are in 7/8 Pre-chorus(s) are 6/8 Chorus is 2 measures of 8/8 and one measure of 4/4... and the rest of the song can be 6/8 or 3/4 if you were in the army. 😁
@a59274c
@a59274c 2 года назад
@drumrolltony if you want a supreme challenge in time signatures... there was a jazz band at Montlake Terrace high-school in the late 90s that played a song called "the first circle" by Bob Kurnow's LA big band with Pat Matheney on guitar... song is 12/8 10/8 (alternating each measure) except for the chorus which is 8/8. They fucking killed it. I was so jealous of the lead trumpet player. He's the clapper in the intro (_23_2_23_2_2, _23_23_2_2) took me weeks to figure it out. Cheers. Side note... this would be an amazing reaction.

And I must say: keep stopping and rewinding as much as you feel to! there are enough reactionchannels just letting it flow through the whole song and giving an impressed "wow oh my god" after the song, I - speaking only for me - always will prefer seeing some reaction on an analytical base aswell because, I am not a singer, vocalcoach, tech-tank, director or composer - so this is the content I dig to find new details! Spot on analysis. One of only a few rule outstanding bands out there with song writing, instrument playing, and vocals that blow the crap out of the 'popular' crap that untrained ears have come to accept as music. Your technical explanations of time signature and harmonics really helps your viewers understand the complexity of the composition and why Jinjer's music is in a class by itself. I suggest you check out Twelve Foot Ninja (TFN) - especially 'Over and Out' which features Tatiana and is a great video for showcasing TFN's unique ability to meld metal, stunning visuals, and a bit of humor into everything they do. By my standards, TFN and Jinjer are at the top of my music recommendation heap!!!

I have only recently discovered this piece and even though I do like their music in general, I think this is a musical masterpiece. Unfortunately everyone remains stuck on Tatiana's vocals (which are amazing) and loose the thread on how well all the instruments sound together, the sincro and perfect timing, especially considering the unusual time signature . I have listened to many reactions to this song and everyone focuses their attention only on the singing voice. So i have really appreciated your analysis; and so far You are the only one (it has been a year since your reaction and I found no one else able to listen the whole and not focus on the voice)... . Thank You!

Official video suggestions: Teacher, Teacher Vortex I Speak Astronomy Cloud Factory Retrospection Wallflower No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video) Home Back Mediator Sit Stay Roll Over Live suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Who Is Gonna Be The One live On The Top live in Kiev Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement & Punishment (one take vocal performance) Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest

I wonder there are still some good people in the Universe to discover the gem of Jinjer :) Welcome on board! I fell in love with them long before Pisces was written. Saw them twice live, and can recommend that to you. You cant go wrong with any of their songs, but have a look at "Teacher, Teacher" before some later releases.

Thanks for bringing something to the table! Too many reactors out there that add no value. As for this band, any of there OMVs or OLVs are reaction-worthy. You'll get a ton of suggestions for Perennial Live at Wacken, which is great, but I'd suggest Pit of Consciousness Live in Kiev.

Some suggestions could be compare the OMV and OLV but it would make for it a longer video but you definitely are able to notice differences

I absolutely love the fact that a female is making the boys PISS in the metal community as the best lead singer in a metal band in 2022...and I am male. Fuck the system, long live Jinjer...and Slava Ukraini. X

You are in for a treat with this band, as PISCES is one of their least complex songs. ;-) Jinjer are from Ukraine, and the music video for the song HOME BACK will give you a clue at what the current war their country has been torn into means to them. And you'll love the music, too, a 7/8 jazzy part is hidden within it. PERENNIAL, as others have suggested, is great as well, and a must, but oh boy, TEACHER, TEACHER is a prog monster of a track, and then I'd like to hear your thoughts on the (I think) accelerando to quadruple time drumming in parts of the track named I SPEAK ASTRONOMY (official music video is fine for this, as it features the previous drummer, and Vlad, the current one, plays it differently live). Also: subscribed. :-) Looking forward to more Jinjer reactions, and I'm sure you will react to Babymetal, too, soon.

I think they show Off more versatility in their song "I speak Astronomy" but they have a different drummer .
