It might be a song about Newfoundland, but as a Cape Bretoner living away it says alot about the desire to go home. We have some great ties....Newfoundlanders and Cape Bretoners.
Definitely goosebumps for Bud Davidge, but ‘twas a little cheesy how Critch got himself and Royle in the video. I’d love to hear either one of them sing one line of a Simani song.
I have a place in Florida (Melody Gardens) and we all get together and play music and sing and this song is done each week as we hold hands and sing together. What a beautiful bring together song!!
I'm a Newfoundlander away from home. This is my favourite waltz that I had with my Pop Randell. It means so much to me this song. Everytime there was a time back home when I was home we sure waltz this one. Thanks for sharing this with us. My Pop has since left this earth, but this song I fond memories.
I hear this and it takes me back… I can see my pop waltzing my grandmother around arm in arm … 😢 love it and a hometown legend … love being a Newfie and dam proud of it… no matter where I live Newfoundland is always home !!

My grandfather actually did have exactly that. One of his friends would always sing is at church functions, so he sang it as pop was being lowered. I don't think there was a dry eye.
