@@Angelos42 I was legitimately about to say, "D&D does that to ya. Particularly when you play Critical Role for multiple seasons and have to redo up to the Whitestone Arc."
"I am listening now... Father." - it's a shame Blizzard left out this brilliant, yet sad phrase. Laura Bailey's voice and tone, just gives me goosebumps.
Beware, Beware the daughter of the sea Beware, I heard him cry His words carried upon the ocean breeze As he sank beneath the tide Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor, where sailors fought and died The Admiral fell at Theramore Because she left his side Choir: Why this? Why this, oh daughter of the sea? Why this? Did you forget your seaside days? Always the pride of our nation's eyes How could she go astray? When she did flee across the ocean deep The Admiral followed west What else but sail to save a daughter's life, And pray she still drew breath? But there he found upon those distant shores Enemies 'pon the rise! But when he faced those savage foes, His daughter stood aside! And buried deep beneath the waves Betrayed by family To his nation with his last breath, cried "Beware the daughter of the sea!" I heard, I heard across a moonlit sea The old voice warning me Beware, beware the daughter of the sea Beware... Beware... of me!
I could've sworn he said "those savage horde(s)" in the animated short, so when I didn't hear the "f" in this version, I legitimately thought he said "those savage hoes"
I'm gonna be honest, the moment it comes to "but when he faced those savage foes, his daughter stood aside", my eyes get a little watery. Cause when we played Warcraft 3,we didn't consider what daelin went through. We only thought about the survival of the horde and rexxar. Now that we do, it hurts a lot
To be fair, genocide was not the correct solution to the Orcs. Thrall is proof that they can be civilized, as are all the non-Aligned orcs working for the Earthen Ring and other such groups. He should've insisted on dismantling the Horde and imposing a better government without killing literally every last man, woman, and child. I feel more sympathy for what Jaina went through than what he did; if I was trying to commit ethnic cleansing, I would hope my own kids would be strong enough to do the right thing and put me down.
Too be fair, he'd been fighting the Horde for so long at this point, there was so much hate. They killed all his sons too. He only had his daughter left, and he though he was saving her
it is a nice track and decent singing with a great debths to it, but not at that level of professional singers. I like pretty much none of the music of today and think most „musicians“ are overhyped dimwits, but they do can often sing. just because they are idiots who chose crappy songs because even bigger idiots will buy it, doesn’t negate that.
God this song is addicting. Absolutely amazing composition. Her voice, the chorus singers, the instruments and use of bass is all in perfect balance. Only gripe is it isn't a bit longer. Great job.
Too many Warcraft characters I've seen break under the misery visited upon them. Not this one, Jaina has to rise above the tragedies she had to endure.
Jaina has always been the most phenomenal character with a background, but this sudden shift on to the backlines of the story... not just "she ran from her dad and men and they all died at theramore" there's just more to it than that. I always get shivers when I go in deep of the lore of the Proudmoore family and Jaina's actions in between then and up to now... it's all justified.
+[Christian Kovacs] Unreliable narrator. This song is written from the perspective of the people of Kul Thiras. And Jaina, being driven to the breaking point by the tragedies she suffered through, is starting to agree with it. Although, like Rylan above, I sincerely hope she can rise above those tragedies and become a truly good and moral person again, instead of a hate-filled one. It's not Blizzard stating that this is the official Canon now.
actually, no. jaina didn't raised aboved those tragedies . she is like this because she DIDN"T rised above them. she finally broke and let those tragedies mold her. remember that she was a peace loving woman. if she would have risen above the trafedies , she would have still been that. but that's not jaina anymore and that's why i love her so much. because she is a well writen character with a lot of backstory behind.
@@ssilentmedia That's one one way to look at it. What I'm asking for is quite simply just to get for once a happy ending. We have plenty of tragedies, as that's how Warcraft stories usually end, and I have to say I'm sick and tired of having all my efforts been in vain. We can't really save the world as there are always new threats, I can live with that, but what really annoys me, is that all the people we have been told we should save can't really be saved and I have got enough of that game.
#Blizzard please change the category of this video to 'Music' It will be more convenient for many people to listen this beautiful composition on RU-vid Musik
"When she did flee across the ocean deep, The Admiral followed west, What else but sail to save a daughter’s life? And pray she still drew breath, But there he found upon those distant shores, Enemies on the rise! But when he faced those savage hordes, His daughter stood aside" hearing this always brings me tear
This is Laura Bailey (the actress of Jaina). I think she had a huge role to play in her characters development and in that particular song. I mean she is voice acting for Jaina more than 17 years :D
I have to say I love the melody, but I thought they could have done more with the lyrics. There's just too many sections where they could have given the lyrics a bit more meat to match the energy and rhythm of the melody.
This song is so beautiful and gives me chills. The lyrics, music, the voices, everything is so balanced and beautiful. I am still new to WOW but this is amazing. Jaina is my favourite so far.
I'm going to guess its about the old gods and gives away too many spoilers and will be an in-game cutscene, hence will berelease after the launch of BFA. Cant wait!
Where I live, we have a yearly pirate-themed celebration. 2019 I got to work in the parade alongside a pirate 'boat' float, and sang this among other shanties. This year, they've invited me aboard to sing through speakers through the parade. Though I sadly won't sing this, for fear of copyright strike, I can definitely say that this song lead me through this far already, and helped me find my voice for music. Thank you, Blizzard, though I don't play nearly as much now as I did back in Burning Crusade, I'll always be able to say you impacted my life.
“Beware, beware, the Daughter of the Sea!” “Beware!” I heard him cry, His words carried upon the ocean breeze, As he sank beneath the tide. Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor, Where sailors fought and died, The Admiral fell at Theramore, Because she left his side. Why this? Why this, O Daughter of the Sea? Why this? Did she forget her seaside days? Always the pride of our nation’s eyes, How could she go astray? When she did flee ‘cross the ocean deep, The Admiral followed west. What else but sail to save a daughter’s life, And pray she still drew breath? But there he found, upon those distant shores, Enemies on the rise! But when he faced those savage hordes, His daughter stood aside! And buried deep beneath the waves, Betrayed by family, To his nation with his last breath cried, “Beware the Daughter of the Sea!” I heard, I heard, across an moonlit sea, The old voice warning me, “Beware, beware, the Daughter of the Sea,” Beware, Beware... of me.
Jaina is arguably one of the most interesting characters in BFA, love her story. I could write an entire essay in why Jaina is the way she is, but I already did that under the Jaina theme from MoP, which btw is still onion cuttingly good
I would actually be interested in that essay, if you would have the time. While it's arranged decently, Jaina's piece has as little common with Jaina's actual character as Sylvannas. Claiming that she did not listen to her father and stood aside would be as asinine as claiming Varok did not listen to the Warchief and stood aside during the Siege. I mean, seriously? Literally becoming what she hated? Jaina, the warmonger? The girl whose catchphrase is "All I ever wanted was to study?" Why so few people rage against this travesty? Do they just... not... care?..
Thank you Blizzard for jaina and her amazing voice actress and making a song that is truly hauntingly beautiful I have been waiting for jaina to take the spotlight and bfa brings her out quite well so thank you blizzgods for your gift of jaina
When this played randomly on my RU-vid playlist (already in my liked videos), I just stopped working and switch to here to look at the screen like a idiot until the song ends.
Because Azshara's Warbringer video is the only one I care about. We've seen so much of Sylvanas and Jaina in Warcraft 3 and WoW, but we've barely seen anything of Azshara.
I love listening to this and then immediately playing the battle for undercity cinematic where Jaina shows up... because thats where she was going in the animation
I really love this song and as a main Horde I feel that the relationship between Jaina and the Horde could be better if Blizzard wanted that. I mean c'mon she fight against her father for us and in exchange for that years later we destroy her home. Not cool
I did the Jaina questlines on 8 chars because i get so emotional every time i see and hear this ! Its a really amazing storyline and the way its connected with audio and visuals i fantastic !
this brings me back to memories of the days at home, after school, passed while playing Warcraft 3 and WoW lich king... those days I dreamed while playing... never felt anymore like that. Now, this song, takes me back to those days, remembering the story, what she suffered, the story I so loved to play, the story in which I was so absorbed. This song is, for real, a new masterpiece. Something WoW desperatly needed, to be honest I can't play anymore, partly because real life, partly because the game has changed drastically and the story doesn't absorb me so much as was for the Lich King. Such memories... true masterpiece.
My life for the Banshee Queen. That is something I go by in WoW... But after listening to this for an hour, I must bow as deep as I can. Thank you Aliance for this.
The most important thing that i learned playing these games is that there's always a story behind every character. No matter how ruthless a character could be, there's always a story behind them that we could all relate to.
