Well, you can converse back and forth as to Clive's contribution to music...but nobody can doubt that he was part of an industry that took nearly complete advantage of thousands of young, talented, ignorant, motivated artists. All sides must be made available to fairly assess his place in music.

Clive Davis:The Soundtrack Of Our Lives is an awesome documentary. I knew who he was but didn't know his story.Totally cool guy and it was totally worth watching. For a guy who can't play any instruments and no real musical background,his musical ear and intuition is like Steve said "Incredible".

I have no idea how his guy became what he became or did what he did. But. He has some kind of weird talent that is not "musical" but has everything to do *music*. He's like the Jimi Hendrix of A&R. Or something.

Early 60's he started as a lawyer for CBS records. Then the bosses let him deal with all the new artists on the label. That way he started to sign bands and JANIS JOPLIN.

i mean to make it the standard again,we've allowed technology to take over in areas to our own detriment.which is why the music industry has suffered.sure,it puts pressure on the artist to try to make every song a hit,but it was so much better before when you put an album on the player with anticipation of what you were gonna hear.now its too much power in the customers hands.

Ever notice these Jewish fellows like to give themselves different un-jewish names? It's almost like they're in disguise behind enemy lines pretending to be something they're not, most of them do this, it's almost like a war strategy or something...

@keef71
@keef71 6 лет назад
it's only pretentious if you don't know what you're talking about - clive does. what he says may sound boastful, but he has been there/done that and i think is more than qualified to talk about how 'great' he his. if you've been responsible for so much great stuff, you can just be completely factual and it still sounds (to normal people) conceited and name-dropping.
