an older guy hummed this song and I asked him about it he told me look it up...It made me emotional because The elderly have watched this generation deteriorate so much that Music, musicians are being forgotten... .Notice how we Always refer to 80's or before to the good old days..Where music is concerned..Glad I looked it up..
I caught Teresa Brewer in New York-AT an appearance when this was a hit for her she was wonderful so young and what a powerful voice but that was a long time ago! commenting here, Barbara Gray
My grandparents and I were on vacation in the mountains and we drove past this place called the Nickelodeon and my grandpa started singing this to my grandma.
Nice job! What a spitfire! I tried to find her nationality on the internet (because of her unique lyric pronunciation and vocal styling), but couldn't find anything.
i wish some of this 50s stuff could be remastered music from the past on dvd is ideal for me as i do old age pensioners shows using a projector and 16.9 screen they love em and why not there were not many tvs around in the 50s in the uk and stars like terresa were never seen only heard on the radio -good post thanks
If someone wanted to make a commercial DVD, performances are available at places like Historic Films or Retro Video (www.retrovideo.com/footage_library/jimmy-dean-show/). It costs hundreds. I could give more information. You don't "remaster".
This must have been one of the very first songs that I had learned to 'sing' when I was about four years old! At that time I had no idea what a Nickelodeon was, let alone seen one.
You can either download it with Real Player (you must hover over the top corner to get the button) or there are a couple of sites which do it for you, save it and then burn it to disc.
So natural. Her voice reminds me of the Barbie & Ken song...no relation...I don't think unless Teresa lost a baby in the mid fifties. There is something about her mouth. It's like...she has another acting name...not Mitzi Gaynor....??? My mother would have picked her as a winner over me. Why? It's the teeth. My mother thought that was the perfect smile.
