Music of the plants - How it works
In this video I reply to all those who asked me how the music of the plants work and more specifically whether the sound in the recordings come directly from the pants.
The U1 device allows plants to produce sounds and to make music. It does so by measuring the electrical resistance of vegetable tissues and transducing it into a MIDI signal (Musical Instruments Digital Interface). The MIDI signal then controls a synthesizer that produces the actual sound.
At first, it might be difficult to assimilate the idea that in the end the music produced by the plant is not only an automatic outcome of this electrical connection, rather a sort of "awareness" of the plant was also involved.
This is what the researchers in Damanhur (the developers of the U1 device) have found out in their forty years research. They say that after some time of being exposed to their own sounds, plants seem to become aware that the sound is coming from them and they start modulating it intentionally.
I witnessed this myself years ago, while rehearsing for a live performance. I found myself spending hours playing piano together with a plant and I was witnessing the slow development of the process. The subtle changes in the plant's music in response to the sound of the piano and its own sound was becoming more and more evident to me.

Thanks to technology we can now convert the vibrations of plants into music. It's just amazing...
@HareDeLune

The real question here is whether the plant has any active input, or whether the device is receiving an electrical variable that the plant produces involuntarily. For example, would you get the same result from something like a potato, or an inanimate object which could produce a variable electrical potential. The other question is whether there is a detectable structure or pattern to this 'music'. Is it random sounds? Is it a pattern that repeats over and over? Answering these kinds of questions will bring us closer to an understanding of whether what we are hearing is from a kind of plant intelligence, or whether it is caused by some involuntary action or electrical process that has little or nothing to do with the plant having an active input.

everything has vibration YOU just need to tune in,,everything organic has Life and Consciousness and we are connected to everything,,,,,we need to get out of the head (left brain) and move into the heart (right brain) we need to connect with our inner Self become aware who and what we really are,,,moving out of 3D reality it is the Illusion,,what we call illusion is the reality everything here is the opposite,,that is our challenge,,our journey home

Thank you for sharing your explanation. I have a Bamboo device and bought it to use as a way to introduce the fact to others that plants are sentients beings. I have introduced it to many in a public school I teach at. I am always looking for ways to connect people to nature. I have recently introduced this music of the plants in sound bath meditations to show people the connection in its healing "light". Most people do believe that it is the plants communicating and that is wonderful. Your sharing this enables me to explain a bit technologically how it works when people question it, so I appreciate that.

I have little understanding of music, but i think your explanation is lacking in resolution, while on the keyboard you have full control of the notes, the plant emits sparse signals, the vibration can induce a continuous loop(not necessarily the plant starts to like the music), the plant has little influence on the overall music, seems that the box has a processor that makes more than just translate the impulses, it uses a mathematical algorithm to interpolate notes that are not off the scale, so it's not a 1 to 1 ratio, if this is acceptable or not from a purist, scientific point of view, i don't know, because it accounts for the interval which relates to time, but i would like this device to have a raw 1 to 1 output to make some scientific study. Subbed in your channel, hope for more detailed info about the device, thanks.

He isn't in disbelief, he is unsatisfied with the human element involved in structuring/interpolating the input of the plants into sounds that are pleasing to hear. What he's saying is he wants a true 1 to 1 output of electrical impulse to raw sound, without the post-processing. Do you understand that there is software in the box that imposes timing and scales on the raw input? I don't think you do...just because this commenter doesn't subscribe to the teachings in Damanhur, he has an "un-believing heart"? What if I was to say to you "Expand your under-educated mind."? In the Book "The Panorama of Creation" the stars omit musical sounds, as they traveled through the Canopy that is no longer existent that covers the world. Also there is a Bible verse Genesis 4:10 Where God says"What have you done" The voice of your brother's blood is crying out to me from the ground! So then This makes perfect sense to me that plants can omit sound as well. Interesting work. Thank you for sharing, and God Bless for opening our understanding to this.

Q: using the same plant, and now with multiple electronic pulse detectors attached to different leaves of the same plant at the same time, will each leaf be transmitting different electrical impulses , or are the same electrical impulses shared through the plant as a whole. In other words is there just one song being played throughout the whole plant because of grounding ?

I saw a video of plants singing then the tone slightly changed when insects buzzed on by, as if the plants were saying hello. My questions are: - what about grass? Grass must hum too. When we step on grass, does it jack up their vibration? - if a tree hugger hugged a tree, would its energy mix with the human energy and sound differently as opposed to how it sounds when not hugged? - could this invention allow us to understand frequencies better and someday help us determine good plants (medicinal) vs bad plants (toxic or dying)? Like one day we can hook up to plants in the Amazon, listen to its tune then translate its frequencies and be like "this one has what's needed to cure AIDS"... Thanks, Sadie

Very good. It would have been nice to explain what is the mapping of the varying voltage levels of the plant to the different tones of sound ? This seems to be something that we ourselves force unto the plant. How about different mappings of the plant ? What would they sound like ? Also because the plant has a different type of consciousness, I see you also have a "velocity" dial to increase or decrease the time domain factor. It would be interesting to note what is the natural time domain of the plant. This would give us an indication of it's consciousness level, in other words how fast it reacts to the outside world. Thanks again. Please do another more detailed video.

An algorithm is translating random voltage fluctuations into notes that sound harmonious. The reason it sounds pleasant and interesting is because a human has programmed it to sound that way. Hi Herman, the U1 has two options: it can send MIDI notes in either chromatic scale or major scale. The major scale is in E and I use the computer to transpose it to other keys.
@augustus6148
@augustus6148 6 лет назад
So are the sounds that we hear the actual summation of the frequencies generated from the plant, or is there a software component within the device which rounds the frequencies to the nearest note value? And if there are staccato notes played, then is the volume actually representative of the amplitude from the plant? (ei, -12dbs to a ratio to what frequency generated from the plant). Also what is the spectrum of biometric energy and how is that mathematically converted to the sound spectrum which is between 20hz and 20khz? I guess I will have to read more into this before incorporating it into legit electronic music.
@SoundOfGoldenLight
@SoundOfGoldenLight 6 лет назад
In this device, the readings from the plant are converted into two musical scales you can choose from, one is chromatic and one is major. With computer software it is possible to add more options, it all depends on the kind of musicality one wants to experiment with. I have not designed the device so, unfortunately, I am not able to provide technical details on how the electrical signals are converted exactly.
@augustus6148
@augustus6148 6 лет назад
Interesting, so I see. So if you were to use the major function, you would more or less be utilizing the device for partially randomized notations in order to relax to, or draw inspiration from, but the TRUE musicality coming from the plant is what I'm interested in ei chromatic. People must realize that it is possible to translate any form of modulation, electrical signal or other inputs into a decent sounding soundscape using the correct type of synthesizer and software. I did a little reading regarding the function of bio metric feedback within the human body for healing and medical research, and it appears that most of the vital systems within a human fall well beneath 40hz. Do you think it is possible that the biometric feedback within various devices such as this simply elevate the octaves so they come within audible ranges? If that is the case, bravo, but I still think that the notion of simply elevating the Hz frequencies so they may be audible may sound a little more convoluted than definable notes on the musical scale. I would like to hear the actual frequencies after they are amplified (and transposed from the low octaves) to hear what they sound like before being modulated and translated into midi by the device, if you see what I mean.

And like I said I talked to them take me crazy I don't care I also hug trees until I tell them I love them and that I hope they are always safe and can grow very very big and strong. And that I wish especially the very old trees that I am around sometimes if they could just tell a pathically tell me all the things that happened throughout their many years but so far that has not happened.

Hello. I love this and am fascinated by it. Could you please answer some questions for me? If you are placing the electrodes in the soil, wouldn't it be picking up the electrical resistance between the leaves and the soil, not the leaves and the roots? Wouldn't you have to place the electrode on the roots directly for it to pick up the electrical resistance between them and the leaves? Also, how has the U1 been calibrated specifically for plants? How did you determine what the calibrated parameters should be? And finally, why have you restricted the output to correlate with the Western 12-note scale? Doesn't this round up/down the tones as the plants frequencies would surely translate to be microtonal? Has this just been done for creative license? Thank you!

Hi Emma, thank you for your comment. I am afraid I cannot answer your questions because I have not designed this device. There are also other devices on the market nowadays, so if you do a search on the internet you may be able to find some answers. Personally, I would like to see an alternative with various tonal systems, including microtonal.

Thank you for this interesting video. I would like to ask something: if we place the plant electrodes in a cat, or a person we would hear the same music right?

Hi Question about tuning. Do the plants produce 440jz or432hz sound scales.
@SoundOfGoldenLight
@SoundOfGoldenLight 5 лет назад
Hi, everything that has to do with the sound depends on the instrument, pretty much like for human musicians. If you tune the instrument to 432Hz, it will play accordingly.

Thank you for sharing. I love this. I'm curious have you tried attaching the electrodes to your body like an ear and an armpit? If so what was the result? It intrigues me how we can use this technology to create music from our thoughts and emotions.

THE ENGINE OF OUR BODIES INSIDE IS EXTREMELLY LOUD BUT WE CSNNOT HEAR. IF YOU EVER HEARD THE ULTRASOUND OF A FETUS YOU CAN HEAR THE SOUND. WE ARE STILL WAY BEHIND OURS CAPABILITIES. YES! THE PLANTS SING. THE WHOLE UNIVERSE HAS SOUNDS. PEACE TO YOU. 🌻✌

An example to prove that life is music. If there is no life in plant, there will be no chemical change in it, hence there will not be any electricity production due to ion exchange of salt contained in the plant and hence no variations of signal to produce musical input. Has anyone tried our pulse rate as a varying input to produce music?

This device is designed to work with plants. To do the same with human beings one should adapt a polygraph, similar to a lie-detector, and add a MIDI converter to it.

You need a device that connects to the plant like, for example, the one I show in the video.
