She unlike every other artist is completely honest, faults and all. She and Finneas are a watershed in music. I wish they would stand as joint presidents and really make America great again. Who needs a gun when you have great music?
Those siblings, they are exactly what was desperately needed in art, in music industry. They have their haters (remember the haters of the Beatles and the Stones?), that is almost fun to watch them with their conspiracy theories. Almost. This was beautiful review of my least favorite song of Billie's. (unpopular opinion, I know) I love the most their live sessions and they absolutely kill all the covers they have done. Music videos are so captivating that it's hard to even pay attention to the songs, they just need to be watched.
I'm an avid metal fan, like deathcore obsessed, but once I heard this song I binged and fell down that rabbit hole. She's like nothing I've ever heard before, without a doubt my favorite female artist of any genre.

This is a song that HAS TO be listened to with headphones/earphones. There is so much detail and layering in the music. It transports me to another dimension when I hear it.
This song. Oh my god. This song might be the most gorgeous song I’ve ever heard in my life. It sounds really lame to say but this song almost brings me to tears. Goosebumps every time. The emotion it invokes is just unparalleled. I need more of this in my life

I come from a dancing background, so for me I feel and "see" music through movement. I always feel like the pre-chorus to this song is like a struggle to escape, and the "billowing" you mentioned is like gasps for air as you resist drowning or something similar, and the chorus comes and it's like giving up. The tension from the struggle has released and all your muscles relax, and you're just floating.
I've watched this video today for the first time. This is one of the few videos which sounds gorgeous in headphones. Cello, back vocals and other embellishments can be heard in the right and left ears in turns. It's a feast for a music lover. I liked your reaction too. You explained the structure of the song very well. Pre-chorus is the most difficult part of this song. To sing this, a person must breath in that much air that his or her lungs can contain. It reminds me of swimming. The more air you breath in the more successful will be your stay in the water. A very wise structure of a song with these lyrics indeed. I used to be not impressed by Billie Eilish but I have changed my mind.

Thanks for your kind words :) I really wish this was the first time I heard this song. I remember when i first heard it, it was probably back in late January (same with Bury A Friend). I was sitting at my computer preparing a unit of work for the new year 7 cohort of students starting at the school I work at, I wanted to get an insight of some of the popular songs I haven't listened to. I was absolutely blown away by this, and Bury a Friend!

I know no one asked LOL but the meaning I give this song is being deep in a depressing hole, having this condition myself and seeing it closely, it's like being trapped and not finding a way out but still trying. And more so feeling alone in this cage that just keep pushing you down.
That's a good reaction video. It's lovely to see someone reacting exactly how the song is.. This song is about anxiety and it's like inside her head trying to say no matter how many days it's gonna take, they will get out of it.

Hi Im veery late to comment on This video! But I really do think that this song is about how you can feel trapped in depression. Trying to find a way out of it, but it just seems hopeless so you kinda give up and end up seeing your depression as your reality or as who you are.. But still deep inside got a hope to find a way out of it, tho it seems so far away and that it all comes in waves.. confusion, sadness, hope, and hopelessness at the same time all in a bad circle.. Thank you for this video, I have to add that I found you recently and love your reactions. I love how I can learn a little bit of the musical part behind songs as I’m much more of a lyrical person. ❤ Keep on what you’re doing!
Lovely is my inspiration and dread song, her voice soothed me when I was homeless. I dealt with some very bad times in my life so I would play this on my glitched out soundcloud.
I knew there were scientific explanations for the universal reactions to her music! 😁 I’ve been wondering (my scientific mind taking over as per usual) what the composition and triggers of her music and voice are that they get such consistent almost primal reactions from literally people of all ages and backgrounds. I have thoughts and am watching and observing reactors all over, but genuinely wish someone would conduct an official study on this. Simply put I think they manage to get that precise point of memory evocation as well as surprising exploration - and they do this on every level. Musically, lyrically, visually. It’s so consistent and thorough, and I genuinely wish there was a neurological study combined with departments of psychology, sociology and obviously music theory. I have a hypothesis that people who don’t react to her music may be lacking empathy (in the neurological sense, such as those with cluster B personality disorders) or have not engaged with the music attentively.
I'm also incredibly scientific minded when it comes to music. I mentioned in one of my other videos that emotion is both the biggest asset and flaw we have as humans. Music can cause an emotional response for all kinds of reasons, but it's all in the composition - there's a scientific reason why we always feel the way we feel, but imo, that's what makes it more incredible
@@nomadine85 I am a 61 yr old female and Billie fan. I never really connected to her music when I heard it on the radio. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics, I just figured she was just another pop singer. I got hooked when I started watching her videos and got emotionally drawn in, only then did I try to understand the lyrics. I am amazed at the true artistry and vulnerability this young girl has.
Thank you for these videos. You know, anyone can react to something. And everyone is doing it. But it seems you genuinely appreciate her and her brothers' talent. Not just click bait. And listening to you break down and explain what's going on musically helps make sense of why it's so powerful and we have no control under her spell! Lol The lyrics are definitely poetry. I really like this and I really like this song, and I've watched quite a few of your videos now and I realized something. You seriously need to look into the weeknd's firstalbum which is a compilation of his first three mixtapes, the album is called Trilogy and I promise you won't be disappointed, except for maybe some of his r-rated lyrics.

Music Teacher Reacts It’s been up for about a week 😊 Only a few videos so far. Mostly queer tv and music video reactions. I wish I could go back and record the first time I heard all of my favourite songs, but I can’t. I just have to trust in the suggestions people give me and be patient until my favourite artists (like Billie and Aurora) release new stuff.

Well done - again! 😁 I agree, "Billeas" are geniuses in what they create, but to be honest, I like Billie's vocals better than Finneas's, although he's great at harmonizing! This preference is probably, because I'm literally blown away, when I hear Billie sing. I've been listening to music from different times, genres and artists for several decades now, so I consider myself as not "new" to the matter 😉, but - much to my own astonishment - I'd never been emotionally touched this deep before as by this young artist and her vocal skills. Billie's voice really got under my skin - and there's no escaping it! 😁 During time, there have been several singers, songs, melodies or lyrics that could reach me deep within, but not to this extent and literally with every single piece of music I've listened to so far! Her videos get dislikes simply because they don't "get" her. They'll say all she does is whisper, not sing. Never mind the fact that it is vocally impossible to both whisper and sing at the same time.
Not a big deal, but his name is pronounced Kuh-leed. Love ur reaction videos to Billie! U should do some reactions to Finneas’ songs I really love Life Moves On, Heaven, Break My Heart Again, and Die Alone. I think those that hate her music don't really understand music and may have never even 'felt' music....never got goose bumps; never got tears in their eyes.....they just don't grasp. They're perhaps content with average music...who knows...

I suspect a lot of the dislikes are from people who won't actually listen to it, but for some reason have taken it upon themselves to hate on Billie (be it jealousy, or her winning a Grammy they feel someone else should or some other banal reason).
I just wanted to say (as an african american) I hear Khalid say "fear" instead of "here". This is what I always get from it. Considering the chains on his neck and his personal cultural background that his black fanbase can relate to. BLM
honestly i almost got carried away by the initial public reaction to her being just another edgy singer. I'm glad i didn't because idk why people even think badly of her music. she might not be someone's cup of tea subjectively, but objectively she's nowhere near bad.
