Before I watch the video I wanted to point out that Su-Metal, the lead singer of Babymetal, made a comment after Monochrome was released that she was surprised the fans saw it as a sad song. The imagery of the lyric video can make it seem sad and apocalyptic but it's really not. It's uplifting.

@@JasonsSongStop The lyric video has lots of strong nuclear imagery, in one part the raindrops are nuclear bombs. Su the singer is from Hiroshima, so, I took at as an apocalyptic song but Su said it wasn't.

It IS hopeful but is also sad and poignant, the key much of it is sung in (but it does seem to flip-flop)seems to indicate that if nothing else- this video seems indisputable with it's imagery

Great double reaction again.🦊 You mentioned the piano versions of their songs - have you seen the piano version for 'Monochrome' on The First Take yet? That will give you a third different experience for that one song. 'Road of Resistance' ... sounds like DragonForce you say? No, I know you didn't, but if you had it would not have been a coincidence - Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015. This was the Kami Band (West) of course. The Walls of Death, circle pits and singing along are all part of the song and the performance .... they even happened when they debuted the song in Brixton, London in December 2014 - and nobody had heard it before, it was just a brand new song nobody had been expecting - nobody even knew what it was called. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy road to follow. For another reaction you could try their very first major event outside of Japan, first time in the UK, over 50,000 potentially hostile (and very puzzled) UK metalheads to impress, just 25 minutes and 5 songs to do it. They were virtually unknown, aged 16 and only just turned 15 (Moametal's birthday was the day before). Look for 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, For Ever) live at Sonisphere 2014. It was the last song of their set - you will hear what the crowd thought as they walk off stage at the end.

Thank you for such an insightful discussion! The Road of Resistance has a very strong meaning. That is very true that BABYMETAL has truly chosen the more challenging route by going metal, but it seems very rewarding at this time with such a strong fanbase! And yes I was thinking of DragonForce when I heard some of the guitar riffs but that is really cool to know they collaborated on this song together. I will add your song suggestion to my list to come soon!

Welcome back to the Foxhole and now with the new metalverse era🦊🤘🌐 Thanks for coming back with this suggestion. Monochrome is another beautiful track from latest album, it was the 2nd single released in November 2022 and there's an official lyrics video really cool if you wanna enjoy the studio album version, later in 2023 right before that concert they released the Piano Version at The First Take surprising everyone with another stunning and beautiful one off stripped down version. The lyrics got some Norse mythology reference and when the lyrics vid came out there were many theories around, later they said they were surprised about it and saying they just wanna give a hopeful song. Here's some official info: _"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is MONOCHROME and this 2nd pre-release digital single “Monochrome” centers around this theme. From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors."_ There's a live version at BabyMetal Begins - PIA Arena MM Clear Night, Yokohama on April 2, MomoMetal first concert as an official member (she's the new official member after YuiMetal left the group in 2018), highly suggest to check it out. The composer behind this song is the same one behind Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Kagerou, the arrangement of Megitsune and also behind Believing from this same latest album, you should really not miss those songs. Next suggestion: - MAYA live at PIA Arena MM 2023 official MV. - Divine Attack live at PIA Arena MM 2023 official MV. . Like SuMetal said at the end: "Just smile".🙂 Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🌈

Great double reaction! Road of Resistance has been a staple show closer (although not at this concert) for almost a decade now. It was a collab with Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. They co-wrote guitars and played on the studio version. There has been way bigger wall of death and pits to this song over the years, especially at festivals where the crowd is not partitioned. Suggestions - Since you seen their newer performances, time to check out early Babymetal: *Headbanger (Legend 1997)* *Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014)* 🤘🦊

Another great double feature, thanks! You are totally right: there are many ways to experience BABYMETAL because they are really good in so many aspects: the music, the lyrics, the choreo, the vocals, the Kami Band, the stage setups, etc. But there is nothing like experiencing them live in concert. And even in that case, there are many ways to experience them since it's not the same to see them up front in a smaller venue when they are touring worldwide than in arena-size shows (usually only in Japan). 🤘🦊

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at the venue. Whereas this anthemic and popular song has been played in almost all of BM shows since Nov.8, 2014, it took on a very special connotation on April 2, 2023. We had to celebrate the newly born BABYMETAL with Momometal who was inducted as the official 3rd member that day. Nice double reaction! As for Monochrome, others have mentioned most points already, so I go with RoR 😉 You could call it BABYMETAL´s anthem. Sam Totman and Herman Li of Dragonforce had their hands deep into it. There is a commentor here always dropping comments saying something about that they didn´t wrote the song. I never said that😉 But they had huge influence on the songwriting, arrangement and whatnot. You could hear it. It´s a great song, very uplifting, super fast and fun to listen to. The crowd reaction is like that right from the debut of this song, back in 2014, when it was performed live the first time at Brixton Academy, London. Through the years the audiences refined their choreography and the result is what you saw here. The Wall of Death is a given, every single time BABYMETAL performs RoR. You don´t hesitate if the Queen asks for a WoD 😉 The crowds at the Japan concerts are always outstanding, they are legendary. I witnessed a great crowd in Cologne, Germany, too. There the crowd itself demanded the WoD, even before the Queen asks for it, and it was HUGE compared to the size of the venue 😆 If you want to watch another GREAT performance of RoR, try the "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan Official" one. That was in 2015, Saitama Super Arena, almost 9 years ago. The (very young at that time!) ladies were phenomenal and the Kami Band of this era sounds different, but even better, IMHO. The crowd was awesome, you will love their "woohoohohoooo" part of that performance. Just as our Queen does in the video you just reacted to. Did you notice how happy she (and Moametal as well as Momometal) was? Pure joy 😉 You should try "BABYMETAL Death". If you want to stay with the current era, there is an official video, released for the 10 year anniversary of their first album "BABYMETAL".

Why didn't you use the Live Monochrome video from the same PIA Arena concert?? It's one of Baby Metal's best live videos. I strongly suggest you react to that version.
