I remember watching this live. It was mind blowing. Another thing of note was having Joe Satriani follow that was a bad idea. You can't follow srv with anything other that an encore

What a perfect way to start my day🎸‼️. So glad you liked this chance to see his prowess on a 12 string. I have read from multiple sources that this was a borrowed 12 string (from Hardrock Cafe?) but that Stevie cracked the neck after this performance. The strength in those hands, let alone each individual finger was pretty astounding so it would be easy to believe. Yes that last song was Testify. I love watching g this as Stevie was so relaxed and comfortable in that small setting and, of course, the audience loved him❣️💯. I appreciate you doing this one Justin👏🙌💙

The 12-String was loaned to him for this performance and between the heavy gauge strings that SRV uses to get his sound and his hard strumming he did on it that night, the neck got cracked :-)

He's playing a frickin 12 string and that's not even close to being easy . Had to come back and watch this one again 😂 he's not human 😂 I sure miss him and I remember the first time I saw him play and it was on a TV show called Austin City Limits and my mouth hit the floor so many times and that was the beginning of my SRV addiction 😂

Dude so sweet you have never seen this before! Love all your SRV vids! Just makes me happy knowing how much I know you had to have freaking loved that. And for any non guitar players out there, even though SRV tuned down a half-step which would give a slight bit of help, playing - like even a regular chord or single note on a 12 string - when you do it for the first time and see how hard it is to get it to press down on the fretboard adequately to resonate properly, it will make this video even more impressive. But of course Stevie couldn't do anything the easy way - he just had t make it a little harder on himself. Playing a 2 string for like a month or 2 is a great way to strengthen your fingers - all I had was my 12 string fr a year when I went to a year of college - and dude, when I came back and picked up my Strat, I felt like I was a 20 foot tall demo crushing that thing my hands were so used to efforting my way through my 12 string. Just a little personal experience - worked for me, who knows. But I do know that tuned down a bit or not, that man is not mortal to play like that period and ESPECIALLY come out with Ryde Mood at 1000 mph on that 12 string. Just not fair! But God love him for it - this show will live forever. Anytime I want to play a joke on a friend who is just starting learning acoustic guitar, like 2 months in I tell them to go watch this Unplugged "Rue Mood" as a way to gage their progress :)

SRV was an insanely good guitar player. He normally played with thick strings, so I am not surprised he easily managed a twelve string. SRV is kind of well known, but a lesser known very good blues guitarist was John Campbell. Check out his old sessions or go for some of his interpretations of "Walkin blues". He was a one man wonder. Tommy Emmanuel is also well worth checking out, if you don´t already know him. His take on Arthur Smiths "Guitar boogie" is insane.

Awesome! How about a reaction to another amazing blues player, the legendary Rory Gallagher? I love watching folks get to hear and see this guitar wizard for the first time since it usually blows their mind that he was that good. Try "Do You Read Me" from the Rock Goes to College video or "Calling Card" at the Hammersmith Odeon for an introduction to his incredible talent. He was a virtuoso on electric, acoustic and slide guitar, played mandolin, banjo, electric sitar, harmonica and sax.

@@justicegusting2476 I like Leo and his beautiful tone as well. As he is an acoustic player comparing his prowess to an electric guitar player is more like apples and oranges. Put a Stratocaster in Leo's hands and I am not sure he could acquit himself as well as Stevie given Stevie did not spend his life playing acoustic. Have you ever heard John Fahey? He is one of my most favorite acoustic players as well as Tommy Emmanuel🎸🎶❣️
