A lot of people to not realize that Elvis got his start in country music. Country radio stations were playing Elvis records months before the Rock stations discovered him.

Elvis recorded this in June 70 in Nashville ... with a marathon of other songs over 4 to 5 days ... it reached the top ten in the country charts in 71 ... great country song n yet again sang with sooo much heart n soul !! I heard this song for the first time when I purchased the album, Elvis Country, as a 13 yr old kid. It is the first selection I heard when I placed the album on the turntable, and I was totally blown away. I played it over and over again. The entire album was a masterpiece on a level that Elvis never again achieved in the studio. I have always wished that I could hear Elvis sing Moody Blue and She Thinks I Still Care, with his 1970 voice, before he began to sound tired all the time. Elvis continued to do good work until his death, but he never again equaled the power and quality he had in 1969 and 1970. During those two years he was in excellent shape and conditioned to a level we would never hear again.

I really do love Elvis and I would rarely say this , however the best version of this is by Engelbert Humperdink who knocks it out of the park; treat yourself to the Engelbert version. I'm not certain but I think it was written by Hank Williams.

I think it's appropriate that they showed photos of Priscilla all throughout this song...I really believe that Elvis still loved Priscilla and never got over her. I think when Elvis and Priscilla got divorced , that was the beginning of the end for Elvis.
