Welcome to Angelina's world. It isn't actually a joke about wanting to sing for Simon. She actually told her mom when she was 3 that she wanted to sing for Simon. Angelina has performed over 140+ covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 15 which is her current age. She has already established herself as an accomplished Jazz artist. Her preferred genre is Jazz but she has done covers of about every genre you can name. At the age of 15, she is a seasoned performer with 8 years of recording and performing. Many of her live performances when she was 10, 11, and 12 years old blow away even the original adult performers of the songs she sings. 13 year old Angelina created a genius arrangement for one of the most beloved songs on Earth then delivers a flawless performance on one of the world's biggest stages. Angelina is a true music prodigy but the only one who specializes in vocals. While most vocalists need to belt to showcase their talent, Angelina is at her best singing softly with ultimate control of her beautiful voice. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, humble and filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for her. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on RU-vid recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.” At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RU-vid went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her unique arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated. Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on RU-vid. This is only a little part of Angelina's journey. From her performances on NGT at 7-8 years old (where she begins singing Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday and ends up singing Summertime) to her most recent originals Million Miles and 7th Heaven (studio versions) there is a long journey where she impresses with every performance, every arrangement she makes, singing her own songs like What is life , Oslo or Shield, or covers of songs by Adele, Rihanna, Elvis Presley, Sam Smith, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, and so on. She brings fresh air and authenticity to music, not forgetting her vital commitment and compassion to make this world better. Listen to her cover of Heal the world that she released recently. It seems that Simon made her several offers to hire her after this performance but she rejected them all. Angelina and her family know where they want to go with her art. Angelina actually was not kidding when she said she'd been waiting 10 years (i.e., from the age of three). She is a Norwegian prodigy who has been listening to, studying, learning, and singing jazz since the age of three! Plus almost every other genre imaginable since then to now at age 15, nailing each one with extraordinary proficiency. Hope y'all will continue reacting to her! Simon was correct when he said that he had never heard that version, Angelina re-arranged it for the performance. She does this with many of her cover songs. Her fans call it "Angelina-fying" a song. The lady who first stood and clapped at the end of Angelina's performance was her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani. On her right was Angelina's mother, Sara Astar, then Juliette, her sister and then her uncle, Michael Astar who is also her Manager. Heidi Klum hit the Golden Buzzer. So Angelina went straight to the Final, where she performed Elton John's classic "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".¡ My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". Well, it was a seven-year-old child who appeared on the stage. She was small and had wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. My first surprise was how she confidently answered questions put to her by one of the judges. She showed no signs of nerves and when she was asked what song she was going to perform, she declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Then she gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music and started singing. Yeah! The body of the 7-year-old child was still there, but the voice wasn't. It was that of a 40-50 year old black woman who had been singing for decades. That first moment of surprise has been experienced many times since then. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on RU-vid and in the years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Avicii, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others: in total over 220 different songs and 82 different performers. She takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. When you listen to her there is the feeling that you are the object of her attention. She is singing for you alone. I have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What I will never understand is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing. Angelina was not kidding when she said she waited for 10 years to sing for Simon. She actually started singing at age one and a half in the crib, a Whitney Houston song! She will do runs and riffs currently and a little bit of raspiness, but never overdone. It reflects her training and her roots in jazz and soul.

Angelina took off her own shoes and gave them to the girl, she vowed to perform barefoot (she already had it in mind to be a singer). Angelina wrote a book about this experience, she has performed at many charity concerts around the world. Here, on America's Got Talent - The Champions (all contestants had performed in ...Got Talent shows around the world, but only Angelina had actually won), Angelina, who is well known all around the world, but no so much in America, added a few extra frills to show the audience of what she was capable. I am absolutely amazed… That you have never heard of Angelina Jordan till now? But good On ya… You have now been introduced, to the barefoot princess, our angel in the music world, the child prodigy that is destined to become a superstar! And if you are like any of her multi millions of followers, you will follow her down this rabbit hole. You have got to listen to anyone of her Adele covers! And then react! She does all those covers, in many peoples humble opinion: better than the original artist! Like: all I ask, 1 million years, among others. And oh my gosh-Elvis Presley‘s you were always on my mind! And it almost doesn't matter which of her more than 130 YT videos you choose to watch. If you don't believe she had been preparing to sing for Simon for 10 years by the age of 13, go back and watch some of her earlier stuff; her four Norway's Got Talent performances (at ages 7 & 8), or "I Put a Spell on You" (at age 9) would be good places to start. She sings with many different voices. If she is singing Odell, Amy Winehouse, John Legend, James Brown, or a great jazz legend she has the ability to change her sound. She does her own arrangements and has written music and lyrics for her own songs. First video of her singing into a microphone she was 1 1/2. She was in recording studios at the age of 5. The outfit she is wearing she made. The pattern was from her grandmothers art. She is the youngest published author in Norway's history. The story behind book touches your heart. She speaks 4 languages and play piano, guitar, flute and violin. She has done charity concerts raising millions of dollars for charities. She has just recently signed with Republic Records as their #1 priority singer and retains all control of her own music. Congrats! You stumbled upon the greatest female jazz singer of our time! I suggest that you continue with her early appearances on the "Norway's Got Talent" show. Maybe you want to see her in "beast mode" at age 9 when performing Screaming Jay Hawking's "I put a spell on you" (make sure to watch the Black&white version. Or you jump right to her latest videos of "All I Ask" (Adele cover) or "Heal The World" (Michael Jackson cover).

It was worth waiting ten years, AJ has commented since that performance that it did change her life, Stargate signed her, and Republic Records also signed her at age 14. She is in the process of having the world recognize her as a SUPERSTAR.

Looks like you received a few comments. Just a note. She started hearing Jazz while still in the womb. There is video of her singing at eighteen months of age. She did tell her mother she wanted to sing for Simon Cowell at age three. She told her Mother at five she wanted to sing at the Noble Peace Prize Concert. She tried at five to audition for Norway’s Got Talent but is told she is too young. At six she stated she wanted to be a superstar and sing for the world. She has accomplished these goals and more.
