Haha ABSOLUTELY… 😂… At this point, I’ve bought so many of them, they’re all over the place. Toyota also uses 10mm, so I have them everywhere 🤘🎸

I bought a set of these to upgrade my Slick SL54T. A few of them had tight bushings too, but that wasnt the worst of it. I had a lot of string breakage on the high E that was only remedied by wrapping the string around the post, thereby defeating the purpose of a locking tuner. Also, the posts are too tall, so the angle of the strings over the nut was too shallow. This caused my low E string to sound mushy...unless i wound it around the post, again defeating the purpose of locking tuners. I eventually decided to replace them with Gotoh locking tuners. The Gotoh's were only about $25 more per set at Philadelphia Luthier Supply than I paid the Music Lily ones at Amazon. My advice is don't skimp on tuners, especially when much higher quality can be had for just a few more bucks.

That’s interesting man… The height doesn’t seem to effect the tone with this guitar at all. I’ve played the guitar for about a week, few hours a night, say 10 hours and haven’t had any string breakage yet either, but if it becomes a problem, I’ll definitely update the description. Normally I agree with you on buying a quality set of Tuners, but to me, it doesn’t really make sense to do that on a $79 guitar… and Gotoh’s are around $70 for the locking tuners on Amazon now, so it’s more than double the cost of these, and almost as much as the guitar 😂 I play this guitar a lot, so I’ll see how the High E holds up, thanks for commenting

just because you have locking tuners doesnt mean you dont wrap the strings some still. you would never rely on the lock alone on any brand because not only will you keep breaking string you wear out the locks themselves faster. im speaking about cheaper brands mainly but i would still do the same with any brand for the same reason.

he said not to put them on a $1000 guitar.....thats exactly what i did LOL !!! i put them on a gibson sg faded, and you know what it looks great, especially since i couldnt find any black gibson delxe tulip tuners

@FretboardDiaries 4 дня назад
😂 😂… I mean, I may have said it like that, but what I really meant was, if I had a $1000 guitar, I’d likely spend a bit more for a better quality tuner. Not taking anything away from these, they’ve been great on my budget Harley Benton. I’d just likely jump up to Grover’s or something similar for a higher end instrument. That said, I’m glad they’ve worked out for you 🎸🤘

Hey thanks for watching and thanks for the sub… Unfortunately I don’t really have an answer for you on the guitar charm, my Mom bought it for me when I was in High School 30 years ago and I have no idea where she got it. It had been lost for many years and I found it in her jewelry box when she passed away in 2018… So I’ve worn it ever since as a tribute to her and it’s been in every video I’ve done… Wish I had a better answer for you… Thanks for watching 🤘🎸

Nice one mate - Quality review 👌. I reviewed and installed the exact same ones, and had the exact same experience with the tight bushing threads. I think they're decent but a few £'s more for a set of Vansons or Wilkinsons, is well worth it imo. My MusicLily ones are not as smooth quality as the Vansons. Probably wouldn't buy the MusicLilys again. 😬
@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries 11 месяцев назад
Hey thanks man! I completely agree that Wilkinson and Gotoh are absolutely better (never heard of Vansons but will check them out) With that said, for a guitar this cheap ($79), I’d certainly do the MusicLily’s again. Mine were actually the smoothest of any budget tuner I’ve tried, and by budget, I mean under $30… That said, I really prefer Gotoh or Grover, and if I’m putting them on a guitar of value, that’s what I’m going for. Wouldn’t make sense to cheap out on tuners for a higher end instrument Thanks for watching, appreciate the comment 🤘🎸

@@FretboardDiaries I concur with you too 😆👍 The only differences are we are in the US & UK so £ & $. I don't know if Vanson's are available in the US but they're basically re-branded Korean JN tuners. Very good quality. I also put the £25 musiclily Tuners on a £66 Fazley guitar 👍 Vanson's are only £35 here. Wilkinson's about £40, Fender around £55+ and Gotohs etc are £60+. Vanson's are my current top pic for quality/value ratio. Would love to find some staggered locking tuners for around £40. Let me know if you hear of any 😜 Soz - that was long 😆

That’s interesting 🧐 … Was the guitar holding tune with the previous tuners? Also was it just one string, or the whole guitar? Just curious… I’ve picked my guitar up after it sitting for a week and it was still in tune, and it holds tune quite well. Kinda surprised to hear that…

I just installed some pegs from this brand, but from another model and they had a problem: the entire mechanism was very loose, it did not have the internal plates that fit correctly, I had to put the peg plates that I had replaced on it.

So far this is the only model I’ve tried… looks like this brand has a whole website full of budget parts. I found these to be about what I expected, the one area that really mattered to me was that they were tight and held tune, so far, that’s what they were best at… Chrome quality was meh… Glad you got your issue worked out, that’s why I always save my old parts

compare to the Planet Wave Auto Trim Tuners?.. which I have on my JS32T. I love those things, but at $100+ CDN, not sure I wanna put those on my Bentons, as they're about 30% of the cost of the actual guitar.

Totally understandable and I feel the same way… Oddly enough I just bought some Wilkinson locking tuners for my JS32, but like you, didn’t want to spend that much for my HB’s. That said, these tuners have done just fine on my HB St-20… For the price paid, they have been functioning as they should. I play the guitar quite frequently, and they’re doing just fine. Definitely a good option for a budget instrument

Is there a particular order you install the tuners? I noticed a number on the back like "jh-R3"?
@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries 5 месяцев назад
🤔 hmm… Can’t say I’ve ever heard of that… Are you possibly installing them in a 3x3 headstock? And maybe that R3 is used by the manufacturer to denote that they’re for the right side of the 3x3 headstock… and the other three would say L3? I’m actually working on another locking tuner install tonight for a set of DoBro (Wilkinson) so I’ll take a look at those and see if anything is stamped on them… I’ll reply tomorrow 👍 🤘🎸

i have 3 sets of these. one set chrome and the rest black. i think one color is harder to thread cus the coating is in the threads. it was hard not stripping them but they went on eventually. the clamping isnt bad either altho the high e makes weird sounds when tuning sometimes. i let the strings have a least one full wrap around the post to try to help it get some friction and not rely 100% on the locks. there really cheap but not bad for a budget buid. the kaynes aor guiker brand have slightly better qulity for a little more money. i have those as well and like them better.
@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries 8 месяцев назад
It’s interesting that between the Guyker, Kaynes, and MusicLily, the MusicLily turned the smoothest… All 6 individual tuners were really smooth… That said, the Guyker and Kaynes definitely looked better (to be fair, only the MusicLily was chrome) and the threads were better on the Guyker and Kaynes, although the Guyker had two that were a little tight. To be fair, I’m basing my opinion off of one set of each, and obviously, that may not be the norm. Interestingly enough, I have never done a full wrap around any of the locking tuners I own. I’ve never felt that I had to, and I’ve never had an issue. That said, doing a full wrap is a great solution for folks who’ve had trouble with the locks holding. That’ll definitely reduce the tension on the locking mechanism. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! 🤘🎸

Who's better kaynes,guyker or this?there is another brand "artfit",everyone looks to similar
@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries 11 месяцев назад
So the Kaynes and Guykers were nearly identical… Only difference I could tell really was the weight, the Guykers were heavier and felt more solid, but…. If you’re guitar has or may have neck dive, then perhaps the Kaynes would be better. Seemed like Guyker and Kaynes could have been manufactured in the same plant. MusicLily’s were different and I would say they were the smoothest of the group. That said, the chrome was not great and the bushing threads were tight (Guyker had this with two of the bushings as well). Overall functionality though, all three have worked and held up well… MusicLily being the smoothest when you turn the button though. As far as “Artfit” I almost bought a set recently to do an install vid with but haven’t checked them out yet. So we’ll see, probably in the next few months I’ll throw them on a budget instrument. Hope this helps 🤘🎸

@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries 7 месяцев назад
🤔 🤨 🧐 Tough question actually… I liked both… Guyker’s bushing threading was smoother when installing them, but MusicLily’s overall peg turning was smoother… To complicate matters further. I’m doing a DoPro install vid this next week. They’re Korean made, but a little more money at the $40 price point… But for now, I’d probably do the Guyker’s, if only because I’ve had them a lot longer and can speak for their long term durability. I also use that guitar a lot and they still function perfectly after a ton of use…
