He is singing about pure unconditional love. Love that lasts when looks, wealth, youth, and all the other material things have abandoned you. Too many people (men and women) will leave you in a heartbeat if the relationship is no longer perfect. This the kind of love I believe in but unfortunately no one has ever took the trouble to look within me to see it there waiting for the right person. All they see is my exterior and go no further. I see love all around me but never got the chance to give it or receive it. Great song, gives me an idea about what I am missing in my life and that makes me very sad.

I'm in mid 50's, grew ip in the era where R&B music had love,passion and soul. The music allowed guys to express their love if they could not find the words. Just put on a song like this, hold her hand and she would know. Ms. India you a beautiful woman and one day you will have that special guy love you and show you the romance and passion from his heart and music. And you will have a love you will never forget. That's the gold standard of love. Like a fantasy, almost. We've become so obsessed with immediate gratification and with little patience for long-term goals. It's still out there. We need to be able to see beyond the moment to better things.

I have been married to my husband & this April will be our 14 yr anniversary. My husband was the one who got into a car accident back when we were 6 months into our marriage back in 2009. I never left his side. Took care of him when he had his accident. Looking back, we lived in our 2nd floor apartment & I had to help him up & down the stairs. Took him to his doc appointments & took care of everything. I never regretted it. I would do it all over again. We have 2 boys now & still going strong. God does see us through it the rest of the way.

That's because some of it has to do with how our societal expectations have shifted for the worst. Nowadays, if you show even a bit of affection, you're seen as desperate or thirsty. People are too afraid to express their true feelings. It's a mind fuck nowadays. Also, people don't want to work through their issues anymore. Just leave when there is an issue instead of facing it

I was gonna ask you to also do “Don’t Change” by INXS, but I see you already beat me to it. (You’ve also done Eric Clapton’s “Change The World.”) Some other classics: David Bowie - “Changes,” Exposé - “Seasons Change,” Tears For Fears - “Change,” Sam Cooke - “A Change Is Gonna Come.” Chris Cornell’s “Can’t Change Me” is pretty disappointing, so skip it.

He contradicts himself 4 times in this song and not in a good way.In the last line of verse 1, he says "... my feelings are truly unconditional." Then twice in each chorus he says, "Just as long as your love don't change ..." If his love was truly unconditional her love for him wouldn't come into it. In fact, his love IS conditional and he's lying when he says it isn't!

Your lyrical interpretation is so far off.. There’s no contradiction.. Love always was and is a two way street. How do you love someone who doesn’t want you? Also, unconditional is an abstract.. If someone says I would give you my all. It doesn’t mean they’ll give you all their possessions and go live in the street to prove a point..
