Another reason for all the statues and stained glass is that when the Church began, many people didn’t read. The statues and windows depict the stories of the gospel and the saints visually.

@@enniomojica7812 No. What he actually means is Jews and Christians are referred to As "The People of the Book" in the Quran. I found it out myself via RU-vid.There is somebody very knowledgeable of the Quran on YT called Sam Shamoun. He answers queries and debates people via Livestream . He knows Church history for he has read and studied the writings of "The Apostolic Fathers" who were taught the faith in the late first century by the Disciples themselves, Sam's knowledge regarding both Islam and Christianity is incredible. He is able to show the pre-incarnate appearances of Jesus as "The Word" in the Old Testament as taught by the Early Church Fathers and John in Chapter 1 of his Gospel. John 1 says that Jesus is "The Word" who pre-existed prior to His Incarnation. That He was WITH God at the beginning of the world & that ALL things and people have been created BY Him and that the WORD IS God and full of Grace and Truth as the only Begotten Son of God. Jeremiah 1:4 The Word of the LORD came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Referring to John 1 the Word that visited Jeremiah was the pre-incarnate Christ. Ezekiel 1:3 The Word of the LORD came expressly to Ezekiel the Priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there on him. The oldest copy of the Gospel of John is a manuscript labelled P66 and is dated to the 2nd Century. It is word for word the same as the greek version of the Gospel that we are reading today. The appearances of Jesus as the Word during the era of the Old Testament are most clearly seen in the expanded Aramaic study pre-Christian era translations known as "The Targums" juchre.org/articles/word.htm www.forananswer.org/Top_Uni/ECF_Jn1_1.htm www.newadvent.org/cathen/01637a.htm therealpresence.org/eucharst/father/fathers.htm

^ You guys believe in the Gospel right? Then you are people of the book. In Islam, the term "People of the Book" (Ahl al-Kitāb) refers to people who follow religions that Muslims believe were guided by previous revelations, usually in the form of scripture. The term originated in early Islam to describe people who were monotheistic and shared similar belief systems, including the belief that the Torah was sacred scripture. The term "People of the Book" includes followers of Judaism and Christianity. Muslims believe that Jews and Christians have strayed from God's true faith, but they are still held in higher esteem than pagans and unbelievers because they are Monotheistic. Muslims allow people of the book to practice their own religions. "Say, 'People of the Book, you have no true basis [for your religion] unless you uphold the Torah, the Gospel, and that which has been sent down to you from your Lord,' but what has been sent down to you [Prophet] from your Lord is sure to increase many of them in their insolence and defiance" - Quran Surah Al Maida Want to learn about Islam? TRY reading the Quran. I know its hard but it will let you know what the Muslims are on about. Its good to be curious. Search "Al Quran surah Al fatiha"

This just popped up on my feed. This is awesome that you’re willing to just learn and listen from a Christian Perspective. I am Roman Catholic, born and raised. When I was in college (many many moons ago), I took a class in World Religions. It actually got me to kind of understand at least a little better, to understand and respect the other religions. I don’t fully understand every other religion but I at least got a glimpse of it. It doesn’t hurt to learn and just at least respect each other’s beliefs, even if I don’t believe in it, at least I can learn and respect it. That being said, I just totally paused in the middle of the video. Now-Christianity comes from the Jewish culture. A priest said, by reading the Bible, Jesus is “hidden” within the Old Testament, and Jesus has fulfilled the Prophecies within the New Testament. We do pray to the Saints and to Mary to pray for us. It’s the same as me asking you or a friend to pray for me or to pray for a family member (maybe they are having surgery, or maybe there was a bad car accident and they are clinging to life, etc). We don’t worship statues nor do we worship the Saints or Mary. We do have statues and pictures of Saints, Jesus and Mary. It’s the same as if I had a picture of my daughter on the wall. I don’t worship that picture of her. It’s just an image of her at a certain moment to remember or remind me of. In similar way, that’s how we have statues and pictures, to remind us of God’s Holy people, and especially if it’s of Jesus, Jesus and Mary, it’s just to be mindful of God’s presence and maybe remember who these people are and what they have done within their lives. (This is just my interpretation-I’m sure there’s a more theological explanation for everything). god bless you for being open to do this. I pray 🙏🏽 that we all (humans or humanity) can learn to love and respect each other and just learn from each other in a peaceful way. ❤

Isaiah 9:6 one of many Prophecies of the birth of the Messiah written centuries before Jesus's Incarnation (Dead Sea Scrolls translation) Is 9:6 For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on His shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His Government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne (The Virgin Mary was descended from King David's son Nathan), and on His kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this. See also Isaiah 53 - foretelling the future Crucifixion of the Messiah. 3:59 The images are merely reminders to prompt us to be in the right mindset when we pray. We are not worshipping the objects, which would be idolatry. In real idolatry, pagans believe the objects themselves are “gods” (demons). They worship the object itself as a god. For us, we venerate the object as a way to show respect to the person it reflects.

9:53 St. Paul was a Roman citizen, so his execution was quick - a beheading in 67 AD, three years before the Second Temple was destroyed. St. Peter, conversely, was not a Roman citizen, so he was crucified (upside down). St. Peter is typically depicted holding two keys; St. Paul with the sword that beheaded him.
@ironymatt
@ironymatt Год назад
More info re: St Peter's crucifixion, in the wider secular culture it is mistakenly thought that an upside-down cross is a reference to the occult or even satanism, but the truth is it's a reference to the fact that St Peter requested that he be executed in the inverted position because he wasn't worthy of the honor of dying in the same manner as that of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without realizing it, there's a great many rebellious atheistic types who unwittingly pay homage to St Peter's martyrdom when they wear or display an upside-down cross.

Hi! I’ve been watching your videos and I’m impressed with your understanding of Christian history and theology. I'm curious to know: do you think the New Testament affirms Christ's divinity? I’m aware that Muslims believe the New Testament was altered to present Christ as God. Interestingly, despite this view, I've noticed that many Muslims cite verses from this same scripture, often out of context, to reaffirm their own beliefs. I've also noticed that many Muslims and even other non-Christians view Christianity solely as a scripture-based religion. This perspective is understandable given the significant influence of the Protestant doctrine of Sola Scriptura, which has been widely generalized in media portrayals of Christianity. I'm also interested in your understanding of the belief that Christ didn't directly reveal the Gospels (Which I know is also a belief in Islam), but instead established the Church, which later compiled the New Testament. Apologies if I've been a bit extensive with my questions. I don't usually engage with people online, but I was genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts. Kind regards, Kyrillos :)
@MuslimMindsUS
@MuslimMindsUS Год назад
Hey Byzant2679! In some of our other reactions I have mentioned that Christianity today needs to have tradition with the scripture in order to preserve its canon understandings. Without tradition, one can have several different interpretations of biblical texts (this is what happened in the days of the early church). For example you have Docetism, Ebionites, and Arianism, just to name a few. The doctrine of the Trinity and opinions of the early church fathers are a must in order to explain verses that seem to contradict divinity. Such as when Jesus says in John 17:3 Now this is eternal life; that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Or John 14:28: the Father is greater than I. Those are only two exemplars of versus that have been understandably interpreted to mean something different compared to traditional understandings like Catholicism. This is part of the reason there are many different denominations or sects. I think it would be disingenuous to read the Bible and not see Jesus as a special person, definitely not a normal human, and in different places seemingly divine. However, it is also understandable to get the notion that Jesus is not equal to the father or even to go so far as to say he is not God, rather incredibly close to God. Or the only way to God. This is why I believe, in order the church to maintain its beliefs without severe fragmentation, there needs to be a tight grip to tradition. -Rohaib

Stigmata is the phenomenon of when a believer receives supernatural physical inflictions on the body that mirror those of Christ. Those who suffer stigmata are said to be the most pious and worthy of suffering what Christ suffered, so they usually become saints.

The Catholic Church includes The Liturgy of The Hours or Divine Offices a sersis of prayers and psalms said at 9 specific times during the day. mostly only those in Holy Orders are required to observe. the bells helped keep track of the time and when to begin the brevery before modern times. Holy Water is to remind us of our shared baptism. The Easter Candle is lit during Easter Vigil and reprents Jesus overcoming death and lighting the way. the candle must be lit all the time and all other candles in the church are lit from it. your guide could be better. Statues and Icons help us focus we dont believe they are the saint. mass is supposed to engage all of your senses. In Catholic Theology is The Paschal Sacrafice is Eternal and the mass is occuring in the same space time as The Crucifiction so all Catholics that were, that are and that will be are experiencing it together

The people of Gubbio were bothered by a wolf who was eating their sheep, or something, and they appealed to St. Francis. He told the wolf he shouldn't do that anymore, and if he would agree to stop, the people of the town would feed him. The wolf seemed to agree, and so he never killed again and the people of Gubbio kept him fed. A famous story! :)

Stigmata is the wounds of Christ's crucifixion on the hands, side, feet, and head. Some saints actually bleed from those areas. True saints have been examined and there is no "medical cause" for the bleeding. Quite amazing.

Salamalaycom brothers...my dad's middle name us Sultan...mindanao Philippines 🇵🇭 What is the unbloody sacrifice of the Mass? On Calvary, He offered Himself once only in the bloody sacrifice which caused his bodily death. In the Mass, He offers Himself in an unbloody manner, since He can no longer die. However, in the Mass it is the same Jesus, now in his glorified humanity, who surrenders Himself with his human will to the heavenly Father.

5:51 This was the day of atonement. If you touched the Ark, you died. The Spirit of God hovered over the Ark. The Spirit of God left the Temple in 30 AD, when the veil was torn in two at the moment of the earthquake at Jesus’s death at 3 pm on Good Friday. He was crucified at noon. The devil is the inversion of the truth; this is why the witching hour is at midnight (inversion of noon) and why the devil’s hour is 3 am (the inversion of 3 pm).

Come and follow the truth! Muhammad claims to follow the path of Jesus Christ and Moses, but his prophecy was not fulfilled, he is not after God And it is written in the Bible that anyone who does not say that Jesus is the Messiah as he is, is a liar and anti-Christ. In the Quran, he did not say that Jesus is the way he is, so Islam, the Quran, Muhammad and Allah are liars and anti-Christ. The Messiah is God.Anti-him means anti-God, like Satan who is anti-God So we conclude that Islam, Muhammad, the Qur'an and Allah are not from God, but they are also liars and anti-God Only Jesus Christ is the way of salvation, whoever believes in him will be forgiven and saved. Amen Hallelujah

Firstly, thank you both for being at least open-minded and inquiring. I'd like to mention the statues. I don't think your friend finished the explanation. The Golden Calf and the ancient Romans and Greeks, they worshipped the statues as God. That is what is wrong. But we Catholics use statues as 'representations' and reminders. Much like you would have wedding photos, or family albums full of children's photos through the years (or maybe that is now all on Instagram and Facebook). Now on the Lamb of God - Transubstantiation topic. That is a huge topic, cannot be done on a comment. May I suggest you keep this same open-minded attitude, and start looking at the Eucharistic Miracles. There are 152 approved, and more under study. While many are lost through war, destruction by enemies (both Communists and sadly Protestants), however, the modern ones have been subjected to DNA analysis. The Eucharistic Miracles basically confirm Transubstantiation doctrine. Slam dunk. There are videos, and talks are in Spanish, Italian, Polish, very few miracles happen in English speaking countries. But you can tune in, they have slides, and also auto-translation. Look for Dr Ricardo Castanon and Dr Serafino (cardiologist) and others, but these 2 I know examined a few miraculous events, and speak up (in the university and medical world, talking about miracles means end of career). There was a German female professor who refused to even examine, because the university was founded as atheistic science. Anyway, if you do a deep dive into that topic, my friends, you will become Catholic. Guaranteed. God is calling you.
