reflectics also reflects your heat back towards you so its best used ABOVE your mat/pad. My son in law used it on his metal garages walls and roof here in florida and it really helps. I have several pieces cut to fit the back windows of my trailblazer to reduce summer heat and it helped when I was using it as my escape pod steel tent. I was going to use it on my vans windows but I found some 1/2 foam insulation on the curb that I'll be using.. Using a reflective wrap or pocket is suggested for people living in their vehicle in cold weather, either use enough to wrap completely over and under you and your primary bag or blankets or make a pocket by taping the bottom and 1/3 up the side, if you slide that combo inside another bag you will be as comfortable as a roasted potato.. you could also use one of the reflective tarps but those are bulky.. TOTS AGREE on the detectors! although the tent you have now seems to have a lot of ventilation around the bottom that could quickly change in a snow storm

@Doc Ink I use it under the mat cause it’s too loud for me above it. Lol. Using it on windows works great. When I used those insulated bags from the dollar tree they worked great as a bag to go into. I’ve used a survival bivy once when temperatures dropped much lower than expected. It was the SOL brand. The kind that you go inside of with your sleeping bag and all. It kept me warm but that thing was so small it was ridiculous. Snow fall is no joke. Last year I feel asleep with an inch and woke up with nearly 3 feet lol. Ventilation is very important but even your vents can be covered with snow like you said so detectors are key especially if you plan to burn while you sleep. Thanks a lot for watching man!

CO detector is a good idea . I have most of my camping stuff in an enclosed trailer we got after Harvey , in case we have to evacuate with her critters. A lot of the time I just hook up to it rather loading the truck. Slept in it several times . It has vents but a detector would be a wise investment. Bought that exact heater right before Texas turned into a freezer earlier this year . Handy little piece of equipment. No comment on Joe 😑 . Have a good one and thanks for the info

@John Burgin oh cool, I likey! A bug out trailer is a good idea. Even if you’re bug out from a Hurricane. Those heaters will definitely keep you warm in a pinch, luck you got one before hell, I mean Texas froze over lol. Jk Texas is cool. I’m assuming from Texas? If so did you use that heater during that time? You’re welcome! Thanks for watching

Great Sunday video. Hey if you use one of those 1 gallon bucket paint grids and bend it over the top of the heater, you can make a stovetop for heating up food. I learned that from ice fishermen videos last year. It’s a fun diy job too - and a great AOS project. Ps that Carbon monoxide video was scary. I remember that one.
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 2 года назад
@Miles Robertson oh that’s cool, I have one that I bought for a diy thing but I haven’t figured out what to use it for. I’ve seen people just take the grate off the stove and flip it over to use as a cook top. But then it leaves the front wide open. Thanks for tip bro! Thanks for watching!

@@AdventureswithSpackmann that’s a great idea with that thermal padding. How much does that stuff run at places like Home Depot? Would a car’s sunshade work or is it a little sturdier than that?
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 2 года назад
@Miles Robertson that stuff ain’t too cheap but I was able to find a partial roll for kinda cheap someone had left over. Yeah a windshield cover will work as well. May not be as efficient but they definitely work, I was looking for those for the Dollar Tree challenge

"Reflectix" is a waste of time, except as a vapor barrier. "Reflectix" is N0T insulation , it is a radiant barrier (shiny surface) . A radiant barrier reflects radiant energy 180° directly back to the source.. It requires a minimum 1 inch "sealed" dead air space to to be efficient. Any time the shiny surface comes in direct contact with any other material ALL reflective benefits are negated. The shiny surface IS a thin coating of Aluminum, which can actually conduct body heat away from you. It also conducts electricity, so please use caution. W

do you get more condensation in a hot tent
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 4 месяца назад
Typically yes cause you spend a lot of time it. If you have a floor that helps. Floorless hot tents definitely collect moisture from the ground. There is usually a “frost line” on your tent where the heat from your stove drys the moisture and below that will be frozen/wet. Thanks for watching

@@AdventureswithSpackmann Will just a foam mat in combination with the cot be enough in 0°F? I just can’t see how I will not fall off the cot with a thicker neoair type of thing on it LOL
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 2 года назад
@Bohan Zhang well no pad will help if you don’t have a warm enough sleeping bag for the temp you’re in. But a foam mat will work instead of a blow up pad. I’ve not had an issue falling off, yet lol, the cot kinda forms a dent in the middle so I personally stay in the middle.
