Kelli Marissa it’s your adorable little friend haha. I’m so scared of bugs and spiders that I always think every piece of fuzz floating around my house is a bug 😂
I am constantly puzzled that strangers feel it's ok to tell other strangers what they think someone should get, e.g. lip fillers. The world is judgemental enough without adding to it. I personally think you do indeed rock that lipstick. The old adage of, "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all", is a good one to live by.
Haha yeah that always confuses me too. It wouldn’t even cross my mind to tell someone (especially a stranger) to do something to their body or face, especially without prompting. Maybe a best friend, but ONLY if they asked for an honest opinion lol. And personally.. I’m not a person who encourages cosmetic surgery or fillers, so I’d probably vote no anyway lol.
@@KelliMarissa I totally agree with what you are saying, but take it from a thin-lipped 57 year-old-- Never say never! If you think your lips are thin NOW, just wait! They will disappear by 50 and you might reconsider some fillers and/or Botox for the crow's feet. If I had the cash, I'd do it, and I'm part of the "natural" hippie generation that once looked down on people even dying their hair!
calichef1962 I don't judge people for surgeries or fillers or Botox, but I don't want it for myself. I'm nearly 30 and I'm not scared of aging or getting wrinkles. It's a sign of living!
Kelli Marissa I agree. I’m nearly 48 and have no intention of getting any procedures. No judgement either, just not for me. Many people are not bothered by aging. I’m one of them ;-)
Ha my boyfriend was so into this video. He loved it, hes been wanting to do nail art on my nails since watching your nail art videos(and he likes to draw/art). He said thank you, stay cool. Lol
Kelli, you are super beautiful. I never even noticed your lips were “thin” because they look like normal lips to me. People are ridiculous. You’re gorgeous! And thanks for the tips 😍
I love how you kept pointing out that you don't have to spend a ton of money on any of these things. My striping tape stash came from your link a couple of years ago. I've still got *tons* left. I use the same Elf brush for clean up. My dotting tools came from Wish and only cost maybe $2 for a whole set. You CAN do this on the cheap!
Yes it totally doesn't have to be an expensive hobby! Even the nail polish can be bought at drugstores (although if you want to get picky you might end up spending more haha!)
Your lips are fine. The people making those negative comments don't know what they're talking about. I'm looking forward to your video on your favourite white and black polishes.
You are a beautiful girl and your makeup is always on point. Lip size, like everything else, goes through cycles. I have larger size lips and when I was a kid (70's), thinner lips were in style and I got teased. You just gotta be happy with what you have, and it seems like you are and that is what is important.
I would say that my top ten things a budding nail artist needs are: 1. Black one coat polish 2. White one coat polish 3. Quick dry topcoat or UV/LED gel topcoat 4. e.l.f. concealer/clean up brush 5. Striping tape in many colors 6. Set of 12 acrylic paints- mix any color, dries in seconds and errors scrape right off 7. A few small art brushes and dotting tools, orange wood sticks, or even toothpicks 8. French manicure guides, (or hole re-enforcers cut in half,) decals and seasonal stickers 9. Assorted fine glitters 10. Crystals, rhinestones, half pearls, metallic accents, etc.-- super cheap on Amazon! One could probably go on Ali Express and get everything on this list for about $50. Someone on a tight budget could even put everything on a wish list and then just buy a few dollars worth each pay day and have it all in a month or two.
"A feather in my hair" ha ha ha , you are to cute💕 as always, great video 😉💕 and that lipstick is gorgeous on you, NO fillers, good for you, you don't need it😄 thank you for sharing 💕💕
One of the most useful videos I have ever watched in RU-vid!!!! Thanks! Also I love that you had that aside about the feather. I never would have noticed it but if I was making the video it would probably annoy the crap outta me. So relatable! Haha. 💜 Edit: you are beautiful and talented. I hope the positivity a lot of people give you outweighs the bs. I really appreciate all your hard work please never stop being you!
Oh thank you so much for your kind words :) I honestly almost always ignore the haters and just delete their comments haha! I'd rather spend my time talking to you guys!!!
Great tools to have for nail art, but my comment today goes to your makeup, gorgeous and flawless, best I have seen, it goes so perfect with your hair, is completely perfect. 🥰💖💅💖🥰
I’ve been doing nail art my whole life, I’ve always wanted to get dotting tools but never have... you’ve inspired me to go ahead and get them! Will be a great addition to my collection 😊
I used to take a toll painting class way back when and I had two dotting tools for that so I was excited to have something to start with when I started getting into nail art. My daughter bought me a "nail art dotting tool set," but I still reach for the old ones first! She also shared her striping tape with me and I think it was a lifetime supply for both of us! I know you mentioned that stamping is a 201 series, but if you could, I certainly would be interested in seeing that, especially how to clean up between nails! Thanks!
First, I’m doing my nails watching this. 2) your 101 series is super helpful! I have been going back to get tips on making my manis better. 3) I am SHOCKED every time someone tells me they don’t paint their nails because it always gets messed up and I’m like QUICK DRY TOP COAT! I can do my nails in 20-30 minutes and be done and they does get messed up. I love painting my nails!
I love stamping my nails. I've tried vinyls but I can't seem to get them to peel cleanly. I love Cristine's new quick dry top coat- both glossy and super glossy.
Violet M Make sure the vinyl is pressed down really really well on your nails! My nails curve, so I struggle with polish bleeding under the vinyl. But worst case scenario, the top coat will protect the color underneath, so you can use a tiny bit of acetone to crisp the edges of the vinyl design ☺️💜
Basically died when you said that using liquid latex in your nailart is to complicated cause my current nail art I used liquid latex in it, and honestly you are a lot better than me❤️💅🏼 it’s a lot easier than you think
Besides the fact that I love all of your video's...You are by far the sweetest, nicest, upbeat, positive person there is!!!! And I love that! Go Jersey girl!❤
Could your please do a nail care video? I remember i watched your older Inez but I want to know if you have new recommendations. My nail salon or sooo frail & breakable and as they’re growing even a little but I have to cut them because layers constantly peal off. 😢
A very helpful video, and definitely gonna keep a lookout for that elf brush. Your are beautiful the way your are smh at the ppl for being so rude. That Makeup look tho, stunning Kelli ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg thank you so much for this video! I’m new to nail art and I’m SO overwhelmed and don’t know what I actually need for a beginner. This was super helpful thank you so much!
i really an greatful for these basic tips !! ive just recently started with nail art and had never painted my nails before and know nothing at all so these are EXTREMELY helpful!!!
I have probably commented on a video before saying this, but your tip of the acetone and concealer brush was a GAME CHANGER for me. It is SO SIMPLE, but in my 28 years of life, I had never thought of it or had anyone directly mention it as you did. Seriously, that combined with a good, fast drying top coat and I've been painting my nails, like, religiously for the last year or so. THANK YOU! :) P.S. You are beautiful and the dark lipstick looks really, really nice! I have thin lips and hate the way dark lipstick looks on me, but I am inspired to give it a go again.
Oh gosh I'm so happy to hear that! It's absolutely my favorite trick for a salon quality manicure. So much that now I feel like the salon doesn't do as good of a job since they don't usually clean up HAHA!
Great video as always Marissa. Another reason to have a good black and white polish is that some neons needs a white under coat to reach their full potential, and a lot of glitters need a black under coat to look their best. Not really nail art, but still
Trying to improve my nail art game. Dotting tools and the brushes are what I’m playing with to improve. Recently started stamping and trying gradients with the sponge. Those are still a struggle. And your lips and lipstick are lovely.
Didn't even think anything about your lips or the color, looked so natural with your make up, now your eyes I just love your talent with the shadows.... that's what I'm always looking at
I just started with nail art but my favourite so far other than those that were mentioned are acrylic paint! They are super easy to apply with any kind of brush, dry super fast and with a top coat are just as glossy as polish. The nice thing is that over dried top coat it is easy to fix mistakes because you can gently scratch it off. So yeah that is my favorite tool for nail art details :)
THANK YOU for mentioning cleanup. I feel like somewhere in the past year or so, the nail accounts I follow on Instagram stopped cleaning up their manicures for some reason and it drives me crazy.
I'd add plain old cotton balls or I prefer the cotton rounds that don't leave any fuzzies behind. I use them to take polish off, clean around the top of the polish bottle and of course for cleaning stamping plates. Probably my #1 nail polish tool and go though a lot of them. I also like the pointy little cutips for cleaning up around cuticles and for placing glue for crystals. They are great for cleaning the inside lid around the brush if you get polish inside it as it will dry and seal the polish shut if you don't, Don't you have a very old video showing how to do that - I think I learned that trick from you actually. Great video. I saw the feather and thought it was something floating across my computer screen but couldn't get it to go away. Glad you cleared that up (haha).
Great video, Kelli!! Believe it or not. I used to use colors pencil, water paints and markers as nail art(1978-1982). Today there are all kinds of things to use for nail art.
I love using the ELF brush for cleanup. My manicure looks so much better that I get asked if I get them done 😉. BTW, LMAO when the feather gently landed on your head!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I hope you rock dark lips so much more. It really suits you! 100% enjoy these 101’s. I was wondering later on in the series. If you could do a video on how you take care of your tools. Ie.. silicon mats, dotting tool, stamping plates, stampers, clean up brushes and nail art brushes. How you clean them how you store them etc... I got a silicone mat. And I have no idea how I’m supposed to clean it. So haven’t really been using it. 😳
I applaud that you love your lips the way they are. I'm tired of people shaming other people for the type of lips that they have. God blesses us to be uniquely individual in the way we look, the way we think, and our brilliant personalities. I love your uniqueness!
I have always loved your 101 videos! Some I learn a lot from and some are a refresher! Love your whole look today with the hair, make up, and lips. Gorgeous! People have no shame when it comes to telling someone what they think a person should have done, but are also the first to comment negatively if a person does decided to have work done on themselves. Unless it directly affects you, close your mouth and keep scrolling!!
Oh gosh thanks Erin! I'm glad these videos can be helpful :) yeah I don't understand the compulsive need online to tell people to get work done, especially when it's totally not related to their videos (I really don't see how bigger lips would affect my nail art hahaha)
I love your videos. Newer subscriber here. Who says that about your lips? You are rocking that lipstick. Not for one second did I think your lips were thin. I think you have a beautiful unique look and are an amazing make up artist. I love your eye shadow looks. You can totally pull it off. I envy your look! ❤️
Haha honestly if I see a comment about it I just delete it. Especially since my lip size doesn't affect my videos at all cause I review nail polish lol! And thank you so much 😄❤️
Love these videos! More 101 videos please! Also would love if you started a more advanced series teaching things like stamping, reverse stamping etc. I have not seen good videos explaining how to do these techniques. They are usually missing information like how long you should let your polish dry before reverse stamping etc. Completely dry? Partially dry? Wet? Would love to know your tips and tricks for this in an advanced nail art video series.
If you start watching at all the different stores that carry drugstore brands (Walmart, Target, Meijer, etc, and the drugstores) are starting to put out their boxed gift sets with things like makeup brushes, makeup, nail sets, etc. I'm sure you get the point. IMO most of them are pretty good items. I used to replace my makeup brushes and hair care items that I needed after Christmas, when that stuff would all go on clearance. (but they are already heavily reduced prices, in case you don't want to wait). Last year, at Meijer - think Walmart Supercenter - when the items hit 75% off I bought this cute LA Colors 'Sophisticated Mani' set that came with 5 mini polishes, 1 glitter, 1 base/top coat, 8 foil strips, 75 tiny gems and tweezers. It said it was a $20 value, originally sold for $5, but I got it for under $2. Sorry, I know that was a WHOLE LOT of words to say that if you look now you'd probably find a great selection of those types of sets, but if you're like me I'll be looking now and buying what they have after Christmas. I'm really sorry for being long winded. 💜
It's so great that nail art kits are easily accessible now! They used to be so hard to find, when I first started, I could only get stuff online and for so expensive!
Yassss girl!!! Love natural girls!! And you're deff rocking that shade! Also... Fun fact... I wouldn't even have noticed the feather.. Or.. Maybe I would have.. Idk! 🤷 But it was pretty funny when you pointed it out 🤣 You're hilarious! Definitely my favorite nail youtuber!!! Been binging your videos since the other day when I found you!!
Thx for the video. I love you 😘 and your videos. Some people don't have any good things to say about anybody. Really like your make up look for this video. You inspire me to do nail art. Thx Kelli
Thanks for the video! I’m still building my collection. Just got the Holo Taco Kay ch collection: wearing Olivera from Zoya and Scattered Holo! Lasted one day so far and am excited for more Holo taco this year. Still need some jojoba oil, a clean up brush and some liquid latex and vinyls (nail sponges and such)!
Thanks! I just got some lavender/jojoba/Ylang ylang oil and a clean up brush! I’m enjoying this scattered holo immensely. I watched your holo taco review before buying the collection and it’s very beautiful!
I'm a little lip lady, too! Trying to boldly rock those rich shades as well. My hurdle used to be worrying about lip colour feathering but I found liquid matte (matte ink) product. Worth it! ... (I wait for sales though)
Water slide decals are the easiest way to get beautiful nail art. I order them from AliExpress for 25 cents to $1 and they have consistently worked for me. I like them way more than stamping!
The feather 😂😂 This is why I love your videos, you're not above pointing out things like that. It's very relatable. One thing I wish more nail artists would mention that I never knew- you put Quick Dry Top Coat on the polish while it's still wet. That blew me away. I was constantly struggling with accidentally bumping my nails before they were 100% dry, which prevented me from ever wanting to put in the effort to do nice nail art, knowing I would inevitably ruin it right away. Throwing on Quick Dry Top Coat to help everything solidify faster resolves that whole issue. Never knew what I was missing. And how silly and shallow are these people going around criticizing lip volume, what on earth. With your makeup looks, you could definitely rock a dark lipstick. Your hair would look great with a darker maroon shade like your shirt! It'd be very autumnal. 😊
Haha yes that is absolutely a game changer! I'll definitely mention it in my favorite top coats video because it's super important. And thank you so much for your kind words and support :)
I like your lips/smile. It was the first thing I noticed about you when I started watching and I feel like it’s one of your best features. Also if you don’t have a video like this already, I’d like to see a basic nail art video where you use these tools from this video and show us how to do some easy nail art designs or show us the different designs you can do with them. Especially the brushes.
I find stamping easier than vinyls sometimes! Haha. Lay the polish, scrape, *s t a m p.* Sometimes I struggle with the vinyls sticking bc my nails have a strong curve, so that's probably why.
Thank you for this video! I really appreciate your 101 videos, they are super helpful. I'm excited to see your favorite whites and quick dry top coats videos.
Kelli, f them! Ive always had small lips. Sometimes, especially if I'm not wearing any lipstick, my top lip disappears when I smile. Don't know where it goes 😂 but I'm fine with it.
Looking forward to your "favorite quick dry topcoat" vid. I love the Glisten n Glow one but always looking for a new one! Oh, and rock that dark lippy, it looks AMAZING ONY YOU;!
I have almost everything you said (except nails vinyls) and I must to confess, I still suck at nail art ahahahahaha. It doesn't matter if you've big or small lips, if you want to use a dark lipstick GO GIRL! :D
This was one of my favorite videos! I use all the nail 💅 tools you talked about in your video. My dotting tools are probably my favorite, as they are so easy to use, and make perfect dots in all sizes. My next favorite are my black and white 💅 nail polishes. OMG I just bought a new bottle of black polish, and it fell and broke all over the floor, walls, my door. What a mess that was to clean up! I think your 💋 lips are beautiful just as they are. Don't listen to people who make stupid comments. I also think you look great in all lip colors, however, I'm really liking the darker color on you. You're an incredible makeup artist Kelli, so you look gorgeous in everything! Thx for a great video. Miss and love you lots!
