I hated this style of filter after my first OC on my third gen. But I’ve come to appreciate it as it makes it very easy to inspect the oil filter element for any suspect debris.

Never fill to the top dot . Fill around half way, warm up the engine and recheck. Then you can fill accordingly.

Get rid of that oem battery it corrode terminals and cables and hold down bracket. Get an AGM battery.

You can get a terminal/corrosion inhibitor coating that’s a red spray, works great!

My plastic oil filter canister swelled and siezed and sheared 3 of the 4 splines for the removal tool and nearly stripped it out trying to remove it. Common issue I’m surprised to see your plastic one still working. Had to upgrade to aluminum.

I changed mine today and forgot to loosen the oil cap.. it came out so hard and fast it splashed all over my driveway.. i cant imagine if i had taken it off.. its gonna be a long time before thia driveway cleans up at least the oil wasnt dirty yet

why would you want the oil to "drain better"? 0w20 is like water and splashes EVERYWHERE when you drain it, better if it starts slow. you're video is giving abd advice right off the bat.

I actually try it without removing it and it seems to work just fine. I really thought you need to remove it.

Nah you don’t have to take the clip off. I did this two days ago. Filter housing gets stuck on there pretty good though

Retaining clip? I just notice it a few days ago when I changed oil. But I've never removed it. I used to have the valve on my other vehicles, but have not put one on my 2019 Taco.

I've never done an oil change on my taco. When you take the drain plug out, will oil start to drain immediately? Or is there something to keep it in until you insert the adapter and tube? Thanks!

The OEM plug yes but once you replace it with the fumoto oil drain valve like I did. It make for an easy way to drain without spill. It's the best $15 investment if you're planning on doing your own oil change.

I have 4k miles on my taco why is Toyota suggesting to change my oil at 10k? My first service is in a few days and they said all they are doing is tire rotation and topping off fluids?

Don’t go by 10,000 mile intervals change it every 5,000 so while you have Toyota care you change it at 5,000 and they change it at 10,000 and so on until 25,000 when you are on your own and then stick to 5,000 mile intervals with a OEM filter and good oil 👍

Honestly I saw another video of people removing it and thought that was holding the filter...but I did my last oil change without it and it not needed. You learn new things every time haha

@@5THGENPAPI I recommend getting some basic recovery tools...like recovery boards, straps and a good shovel. Most of the time those will help you out on some situation

Yea it's been like that for awhile haha...im currently researching for a new battery but I'll clean it up soon. Hasn't had an issue with it yet

You put the filter gasket in the wrong place. It goes in the open slot part way up from the bottom , not all the way down to the bottom. If you use a Toyota filter replacement you will see the diagram on the outside of the box.

Its on the exact place that's on the diagram...hard to miss that since the o ring have a small slot for it.
