@@coldasice1553 Oh man, i`d say yes, especially if it's on a discount. It's truly one of the few great single player campaigns out there. (It's on Gamepass too, if you have it :) )
Just wanted to say I’ve been watching your channel for a couple years now and I absolutely love how you go about your content. Very chill and easy to watch. I feel like a lot of gaming RU-vid is just endlessly complaining and critiquing games, but in your videos it’s very obvious just how much you enjoy playing games and how you just want to talk about them. It’s a lovely breath of fresh air and you’ve introduced me to dozens of games over the years. So thank you!
@@BBKDRAGOON no worries :) rn I've really been enjoying dead cells and firewatch. both have just blown me away and they're great. would def recommend if you haven't already
Thank you for making positive videos instead of just adding to the black pill content out there about how bad the current entertainment industry is. Even though people are entirely justified because movies, tv and games right now are [mostly] trash, it's refreshing to be reminded of how much there is to enjoy out there. I've got a big backlog of 360 games I can't wait to get into. I am also building up my retro collection to keep me busy. Keep it up Dragoon.
Awesome list! I have a few recommendations as well to just throw out there. The Crysis remastered trilogy, Bulletstorm, System Shock remake, and Selaco. As far as upcoming games, I can't wait for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2!
@@joerowland9128 as a hard core fps fan. i reallly dislike any halo game. also, many of my friends really dont like halo at all. we love unreal tournament, quake, duke nukem and similar games. halo was always a weak game. crysis is superb though. so you know
Borderlands 2 is my favourite game ever, I’ve gotten so many playthroughs out of it. If get in to challenge runs you can play this game for thousands of hours
Nice list. My "comfort" FPS games in the category of "Replay at least once a year" are: Black Mesa and Halo 2. I replaced Half Life with Black Mesa when it came out, because I just like it more nowadays. And Halo 2 I could just replay over and over. Definitely my favorite Halo campaign. As for suggestions: Wolfenstein The Old Blood and The New Order. Definitely something to check out. Prey, even though it's not actually an FPS, more of a Immersive Sim. Still amazing game. Crysis. Especially the first one. And a few CODs. MW1 and 2 and BO1. Best campaigns from the COD catalogue, in my opinion. Nothing even comes close to those 3.
Definitely on Wolfenstein; just played through New Order, Old Blood, and 2 New Colossus this week. On easy mode, you can fly through them in 15ish hours total. Incredible games
Nice list. On the off note, have you ever played Subnautica? It has been on my backlog for a while and I’ve finally started playing it. The game is does a great job of making you feel the beauty of the world while also feeling the dread that a predator is hunting you. The game does not hold your hand so it really feels like that you are calling the shots on how you are going to survive. Not to mention, as a paleontology and ecology nerd, the world does a fantastic job of showing an alien ecosystem that exists with or without you.
I don't usually comment on videos but as one of F.E.A.R.'s biggest fans, I recommend trying it out as soon as you can. It's such a well made and fun game (and its DLC and sequels aren't that bad, they just play differently). The only thing that keeps me from replaying it over and over again is the fact I don't like horror games
1. Turbo Overkill 2. Roboquest 10/10's that I'd even consider to be near the merit of Half Life. Also heard Selaco is really good but haven't tried it yet
@@electroidx9810 broother, fps games are exclusively made for pc. everything else is a cheap replacement. no console can emulate the feeling of playing it with an actual mouse.
Absolutely! I'm there with ya. Especially the first two. I'm not as much of a fan of The New Colossus, because it's too much on the cutscene front. It's got so many cutscenes you'd think it was made by Kojima. And I won't even dignify the last one with naming it. That's definitely one to avoid.
I got some heat for those who have never played or get the itch to replay some of these: army of two the devils cartel, batman Arkham city, max payne 3, sleeping dogs, and metal gear revengeance to name a few.
I’m glad rage 2 made the cut in this video, also I think people should try singularity because it’s a very enjoyable game, could have been way better if developers were given more time but it’s still great, if you are into time travel, history rewriting and stuff like that you will feel at home
@@SlCKNESS_ still mourn the day when raven became COD mine worker, singularity needed more time to become a game which would be as well recognized as doom, wolfenstein, half life, bioshock, halo and so on
I'll add some: Thief Franchise from early 2000's: Made by 'Looking Glass Studios', same guys that made System Shock 1/2, they made 2 thief games, inspired the okay'ish 3rd through another studio. They're old, some bolster HD graphic textures that touch it up to some degree if it's a problem. However I am immersed despite its older graphics. Splinter Cell is a classic stealth property, as is Metal Gear Solid from sounds of it, and Payday 2 with an arcade-like stealth approach has its audience including myself, but thief is the definitive stealth experience. Never have I experienced such a feeling of not wanting to get caught (besides a horror game, and at times it can feel like that, so maybe not the most comfortable FPS experience). I'd pitch the comparison to TitanFall 2, spawning a dedicated fanbase who sees the quality in a niche product. Just in awe and pure admiration for the game, that is the same with the Thief franchise. Not for everyone, but for who its for, you'll love it. And its worth at least a look, I'd watch MandaloreGaming's videos on them. There is also mod support with plenty of fan maps. Dying Light. I know there's like a million zombie games, but this is one of my favorites. The melee in visceral and satisfying like no other zombie game, and you'll explore a zombi-fied environment (a few, including DLC's), via parkour and jumping like a jelly bean all over the place, while being afraid of the oppressive atmosphere of the very unique visuals, sounds and tone of it all. Worth mentioning Dying Light's parkour is akin to Mirrors Edge's parkour. And also, not quite a comfort experience but good singleplayer FPS. Early installments of Gears of War are classics to me with Borderlands, each subsequent game innovating and improving (But not talking about Judgement and beyond). BK mentioned Far Cry 3 DLC, I'll add Far Cry 4 as my favorite of Ubisoft's old works (Field of View awful however). Bioshock that was touched on here, but they're definitely worth a playthrough if not played yet. Games I can vouch for that I haven't played yet are S.T.A.L.K.E.R's franchise (mods too), Penumbra (Amnesia developers), F.E.A.R. as mentioned (Trepang 2 created with FEAR's essence as well recently). Dishonored 1, probably 2 the sequel in some ways. I've picked them all up and on my backlog to try, FEAR this week.
F.E.A.R is a masterpiece in atmosphere. While it isn't fully a horror game, it's still the game that felt the creepiest to me out of everything I played. SWAT 4 is a tactical shooter that also has a really well made atmosphere, it can also get as creepy as a horror game at times. You also have to try No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, actually made by the same guys that made F.E.A.R, but these have the complete opposite tone, they are humorous games where you play as basically female James Bond. NOLF 1&2 are abandonware at this point though. You can find them on a website where they have been properly patched for modern PCs and free to download, but I forgot the name, it's been quite some years.
Great list, I'm a very competitive game and it's important for me to have chill games like this to go back to in order not to get burned out on always playing the same comp game. The only thing I would've added but that's more of a very personal and niche pick, would have been "Serious sam: Next Encounter" on the Gamecube which is probably the most cozy laidback fps I've ever played, it's just Aesthetically pleasing and straight to the point.
My recommendation for FEAR-play at 720p or lower, possibly play it at a 4:3 aspect ratio too. Bring yourself back in time a bit to when that game came out, let the lower resolution add to the atmosphere by obscuring your visuals, play it at night and turn off the lights, get a nice cup of tea and commit to 2 hours and see if it sucks you in
Rage 2 is like doom eternal combat in an open world. The open world is incredibly boring and the combat encounters arent designed as well as doom eternal so its nowhere near as tight and good of an experience but i think its an underrated game. Good game to pop on and listen to a podcast and just mindlessly blast through imo
I agree with so much of what you have here. I will say though that I have replayed the Bioshock series MANY times. Its possibly my favorite of all time. Story1 and Gameplay 2
Idk if the video mentions any arena shooters but i highly recommend Splitgate, Space Marine 2, and the best arena fps of all time: Unreal Tournament 1999 (yes the online community is still active!)
Amazing list. Got most of these but never finished them and want to put my hands on Cyberpunk 2077 one day, once the price of the complete edition goes down.
Try PREY, the newer one that came out in 2017 I think. Has a lot of the Bioshock type gameplay and atmosphere but the immersive sandbox is modernized a bit and a little more polished. I replay both games maybe once a year I think very highly of them.
A few great FPS games I've been playing recently are Amid Evil, Forgive Me Father, Exosuit and Fashion Police Squad. They are all fantastic Boomer Shooters and I highly recommend checking them out
Great great great list, if I could pick i would pick every single one of them, respect (played them all in the past on release dates except cyberpunk). Blood dragon is also a very neglected and forgotten game. Absolutely loved it and it ran like a charm on my PC back on the day.
Im seeing some CRYSIS mentions as well. The remastered version of the OG Crysis is a fantastic remaster on pc. I havent played metro exodus yet but imagine they are similar
One the most underrated FPS gem imo would be C&C: Renegade. It may not be perfect Singleplayer game but it's very entertaining, and not to mention the Multiplayer, it's by far the best & well thoughtout Multiplayer game that really solves the problem for most FPS/RTS hybrids out there even to this day. Even Silica Multiplayer wasn't as new player friendly compared to C&C: Renegade. Totally worth giving it a try. :)
I personally recommend trying out the Crisis Trilogy and Star Wars Republic Commando. These were the games that got me into FPS shooters (I have my dad to thank for that 😁).
Have you ever wondered what Borderlands would be like if it was an open world sandbox game? in this case i can recommend Generation Zero. On the surface it has nothing to do with BL bc it starts off looking and playing like a survival shooter, but it does borrow several elements of BL such as dedicated loot drops, loot rarities "go there, do this" quest structures and loot containers everywhere. But instead of bandits, eridians and corporate enemies you'll be fighting different types of robots that are roaming the open world and have erradicated nearly all human life in sweden (the game takes place there). It starts off a bit slow and spooky and the survival aspects are definitely the focus there, but the more you progress, the more chaos unleashes around you until you see yourself in the middle of an active warzone with groups of 3 metre high mega robots stomping around you, firing rockets and miniguns at each other, deploying smaller machines to aid in combat and so much more. It can get really intense when it wants to :)
I can't stop playing STALKER Anomaly GAMMA. I always come back every month or so to do a new run and check out the updates. It's my perfect immersive survival fps. Also gotta do the TF2 campaign at least twice a year.
ngl Black ops cold war was really good. im not a huge cod fan and i try to avoid the hype but i got this one on a sale and it was really good and i loved the cold war aesthetic
i 100% get what u mean about how a game can be a 7/10 yet still be such a fun laid back experience that it can become almost a 10/10 if ur talking about the experience instead of the game itself, sometimes jank, simple and mediocre games can be the most fun, an example of a game i had that experience with is spongebob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated, it feels kinda jank and 100% low budget and the gameplay is beyond simple yet it was such a chill and fun experience i ended up getting all the achievements
I’m big on siege but I’ve been wanting something more relaxing and I’ve started playing the division 2 and I find it very satisfying and relaxing I know it’s not an fps but it’s definitely better than i thought it was gonna be
@@BBKDRAGOON I have a Zer0 addiction problem. B0ring addiction, specifically. Although I have played melee builds. Whenever I fire up that game I end up playing Zer0, basically no matter what. To be fair I have played Krieg, too. Also, unfortunately, Gauge (once) as well and it literally made my friends uninstall the game. I shouldn't have chosen Gauge.
Portal and Mirror's Edge are not shooters. Otherwise it's a decent list. You should check out Singularity from 2010. Also, Rage 2 copied Doom 2016's combat and it did it well. The weapon upgrades were a bit lackluster (compared to Doom 2016), but the game was tons of fun and is definitely underrated. My recommendations: Crysis 1 (and the whole trilogy in general, but especially 1). TimeShift - This game is one of my favorites. Unfortunately it released 2 weeks before Crysis and nobody ever played that game. It didn't really get advertised and everybody just played Crysis when Crysis came out and sadly both games, on the surface, had the same premise so it was easy to overlook TimeShift. Singularity, I mentioned it earlier, but it's another underrated game, in my opinion. CoD 4 (2007) has an incredible campaign, top tier experience, especially when it came out. Medal of Honor (2010) has one of the best campaigns I've ever played, extremely underrated. Maybe I was in the proper mood or w/e at the time, but it's probably the best military campaign I've played and I've played most of them. You know how a lot of military games, during the promo period of their campaign, tell you how they hired all these "real life SEALs" or "former Delta force operators" and other "experts" to make the game seem more realistic? I don't recall if this game had a similar PR campaign, but it's the one game where I really felt it in the conversations of the characters and just how the campaign was. S.T.A.L.K.E.R - the atmosphere in these games is only rivaled by Metro and Fallout, in my opinion. When it comes to that kind of a dystopian setting. Like someone else mentioned in the comments - Dishonored, both games, but especially the first one, are exceptional. And lastly, Prey (2017) is an amazing game, if you haven't played it. Definitely my favorite Arkane Studios game.
I miss playing Borderlands with friends. Sadly I lost that group of friends and now can only play solo. Luckily I've gotten through BL3 completely on my own and learned that I can enjoy the same game solo. Would like to get back into BL2 and finally get through the DLC for the game.
Wow, you still enjoy BL2 after BL3? Don't get me wrong, I think BL3's itemization is a bit generic, but the gunplay is so much better I can never get back to BL2. I also have like a thousand hours in BL2, so I've done pretty much all that I can anyways.
@SlCKNESS_ Yes, I enjoy BL2 for what it has. Though I will say BL3 is my favourite for what you mentioned. The characters are all amazing in 3 and the general feel of moving around is excellent. Just like the story slightly better in 2 not that 3 was a right off on my end.
Games I always go back to for fun would have to be dead space games halo games, BioShock infinite and call of duty infinite warfare. Also bullet storm is always a fun romp.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is another great game that not a lot of people know about. If you play it on PC play the OG release, don't play the version that comes with Dark Athena, that version makes Butcher Bay look bad graphically. The OG version looks sharp.
@@BBKDRAGOON Rage 2 is fun besides the story lol but like Bulletstorm is really really fun with a decent story in my opinion. I hate using the word “underrated” but that game definitely is. Worth a play and if you ever do hope you enjoy it bro!
since i don't believe anyone mentioned it yet : ULTRAKILL is probably the best indie singleplayer fps out there right now, and it isn't even out yet! Based on what i've seen here i believe you will like it. Also, Prey 2017, goated game, underrated, creative, replayable, nuff said
Not an FPS game, but Max Payne 1 should be here or something Game's great Story's Great Gameplay's Great the only problem is that the difficulty is borked on PC and technical wise is also borked, Use patches to fix it. Apart from that, Pretty recommendable!
I wish I could like Cyberpunk but the visuals genuinely hurt my eyes to the point where I can't play more than 30 minutes without discomfort. Everything looks so grainy no matter what settings I use, and the lack of FSR 3 is a struggle when I can't run the game smoothly at 60fps despite having a 6700xt
Sometimes then i'am bored and have nothing to play, i install Half-life 2 and only play through the route canal chapter. It was so mainstream to hate that part of the game. Don't care, the graphics, color are the best for me in that chapter.
Borderlands 2 is the bester looter shooter EVER! BL3 is great too, but BL2 set the standard for looter shooters...I don't agree that you have to play with friends, much of this I played alone...but I'm glad you mentioned it either way lol. And No... Fallout 4 is a great game. My favorite honestly. 3 & NV are amazing, but F4 was a treat. The thought of that being blasphemy is a joke. Rage 2...loved it. Rage 2 is starting to get more respect lately I've noticed. as well. And Halo...the Bungie Halo's are my babies. DOOM....#1...enough said.
Few suggestions I think some ppl may like: Dishonored, Ghostrunner, Left4Dead (Coop is best), Outer Worlds (for ppl who have played fallout already), Post Void, Shadow Warrior reboot series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, Ultrakill, and the Wolfenstein series. I think a lot of these are gonna be a good fit for some ppl and many have a lot of replayability.
Shadow Warrior 2 is great, but I literally can't play that game without getting extremely ill. Because of how they made the camera sway like crazy. There used to be a mod that fixed that (and I had the pleasure of playing throughout the whole game at the time with the mod), but they disabled mod support a while ago. That's why I never bought Shadow Warrior 3, cause it has the exact same camera sway and they still don't allow for mods. Shadow Warrior 2 is still a great game, though.
@@BBKDRAGOON That game pissed me off on release. They had some really broken combinations of traits that the Captains could have that literally made them unkillable. I'm sure they fixed that like a month after release, but I'm still mad about it. I'll play the game some day, I'm sure.
fallout 3? fallout 3??? fallout 3. GOG version works fine and it's definitely better than 4. another vote for the deus ex series, also METROID PRIME. if you are an fps player who never payed attention to metroid prime because "it's metroid" just play it lol.
